just thought youd like to know. i raise these dogs its not an american eskimo.... its a german great spitz. american eskimos are much larger and a totally different breed. they have smooshed snouts and short ears. sorry not trying to sound like a jerk just informing you :) everyone makes this common misconception.
I see a lot of you have lost Eskies over the last year or so. I have to ask, does it get easier? We lost our Casper last week and we are not handling it well. We are a broken family. My 19yr old is sullen, he doesn't greet her at the gate barking like he hadn't seen her in a week when it's only been 5 minutes. My 3yr old shakes the treat bag at the door waiting for him. I'm barely holding it together.
@barrysgrl74 Doesn't look like anyone answered you. I do not think it gets any easier to lose a beloved pet, personally...not if you actually felt a bond with the animal. That'd be like asking if it gets easier to lose children, even though you have other ones left. It hurts every time, but does that make the years of joy no longer worth it when you have to deal with that pain? I dont think so. I lost my sweet dog a year ago 9/16. I still miss her occasionally, though the pain has faded. *hugs*
@bowiechaser We have adopted a new puppy eskie my 3yr old named "Bolt". While nothing can ever replace Casper, he sure is a great grief counselor. Casper came to us around 5/6 months old. Bolt was only 8weeks. Seeing an eskie from puppy point of view is hysterical. Oh my. I have never seen puppy zoomies. Silly pup.
@barrysgrl74 awww, i feel your pain hun. i lost my pomeranian/american eskie on halloween and it was the hardest thing i've ever went through.. believe me hun, it gets better.. i adopted a puppy shortly after Coco's death and it was probably the most rewarding, benificial & non-selfish thing you can do. not only for yourself but for the lucky puppy you'll give the love to.. it does get easier.. i just uploaded and watched a video of my late pup Coco and i smiled & remembered all the good times

We had the best bond anyone could ask for One day my Dad was playing fetch with him and he through the ball away from the road and it rickashayed he got hit and died instantly.I miss him but what keeps me going are memories. I was told by a breeder when I get another dog don't get the same breed I will compare it to my Casper. Trust me she is right! I now have a Eksimo that I love! I hope this helped

@MELISSA84008 - Physically, I think poms tend to have a lot smaller noses/faces than mini american eskimos. Typically, mini american eskimos are bigger than poms. Attitude and personality wise, poms are easy to spot because they love to bark, have tons of energy, and want to be "top dog" all the time. I think my dog is either all pom or at least part pom.
American Eskimos are larger there are three types of the American Eskimo toy mini standard, Also some American Eskimo have blue eyes. The American Eskimo is believed to have descended from the German Spitz

It's like American Eskimos don't age. No matter how old they get, they're still like a puppy, inside and out. I have one. His name is Snowy and he's the best. :) I'd really appreciate it if you'd check out the video of him on my channel. :)
We rescued our Am Esky "Flea" with a front leg limp and needed to pull 5 teeth out due to bad prior owners. She came out of being a recluse (hiding under anything) to a great,great friend to my wife. 7 years old too!
These dogs are especially great friends. If you are the one in your family who does the most with them, they will greatly respect you. They are my favorite.
@MeWasLike They get a little less hyper when they get older. Going for walks will always be too much for them to handle to not get a little hyper. My 5 year old Eskimo jumps constantly when I take him outside to throw a ball.
I miss my bebe ( american eskimo ) so much.. i had her for 17 years.. she just died last week.. i never thought this will happen some day ,, till that day comes.. its like someone rip an piece off you ..

It's part and parcel with this breed. They are hyper and tend to act like puppies alot longer then the average dog and I think that makes them extra special. Bring on the eskie love.
My American Eskimo is super old. I adopted her as an adult already when I was 6 years old. Im 21 now so she is an old lady. She sheds like CRAAAAAAAZY now.... But she is still hyper and prances like that
the breed is great and their hearts are so full of love and play. my wife are i are on our second one, our first was such a performer, liked to do tricks and stuff, our newer one is just never void of energy.
@ItsDayne1 I'm so sorry about your loss. My dog, Sabrina, will be with us 17 years this year. Like I said before though, we got her as an adult so I can't be sure how old she really is. They're great loveable dogs!

These dogs (american eskimos) are white and have a lot more advantages than other dogs. People with dog allergies will not be allergic to American eskimos because their fur is different.
They do not shed as much as other breeds, mainly just twice a year. and they are very very smart and loving. They like everyone and many aren't aggressive.
mine does that too haha. and then he sprints around the entire floor of the house in circles lol

@ItsDayne1 I'm so sorry about your loss. My dog, Sabrina, will be with us 17 years this year. Like I said before though, we got her as an adult so I can't be sure how old she really is. They're great loveable dogs!

Thank you so much for posting this!!! I can watch it over and over. It reminds me of my dog Bungi who had the same strong personality. He got his name from jumping like Prancer. I miss him so much and this brought back so many memories. Thanks again!!!!!

it's their breed.
These dogs (american eskimos) are white and have a lot more advantages than other dogs. People with dog allergies will not be allergic to American eskimos because their fur is different.
They do not shed as much as other breeds, mainly just twice a year. and they are very very smart and loving. They like everyone and many aren't aggressive.
