Just read the book, regardless of your views. you don’t have to buy it if you don’t support the message. The entire book is online at addictedtowar . com (no spaces)
fourteen people can't handle the truth...!;^) too bad that my first copy of it [autographed by the author] was never returned. i end up hipping people to this "leftist colouring-book" at least once a year.... Andreas sums up the violent and greedy pursuit of "The United States" from past to present in less than eighty pages ~ all with accurate footnotes! big ups to AK Press for carrying this great work!
You skip other cost: we hate your government and its army worldwide (Europe included), so there is not a good concept of Americans, who are considered aggressors, and idiotic to support that.
YOU IDIOT 9/11 WAS PRESIDENT GEORGE BUSH'S CONSPIRACY HE PLANTED BOMBS IN THE WTC AND SET THEM OFF BLAMED TERRORISTS AND THAT PLOT WAS USED TO GET INTO THOSE COUNTRYS AND START A WAR THE PRESIDENT AT THE TIME WAS A TARD
The arms makers and bankers and other suppliers are structured in a way so as to make money off both sides of conflicts. Henry ford supported Hitler as did Bush's grandpa as did many others like IBM. War is about profit, period. I can't believe so many of you even encourage your sons and daughters to go and die for that, and worse yet, to go and kill for it. All right, well do some real studying and come to your own conclusions, If you have the attention span for doing such things, most don't.
@heartfire451 - you are a true patriot. It is truly sick how parents are fooled into thinking the military is some good vocaton to enter. It is a gang of killers, plunderers and thugs. Organized crime is another word for it.
In adding to the previous I say that few americans truly understand how the military industrial congressional complex rapes us and those who fight for it. Arms suppliers don't give a shit about a soldiers life. They make bilions and give our soldiers rifles that jam. Past leaders themselves have said flat out that they consider our soldiers to be usefull idiots. arms makers don't care about soldiers who give up all to defend others. they care only about profit and they start wars to make money.
I like the stance I heard that Eisenhower took. He seemed to hate war but knew all too well that in the nature of the good/evil battle that goes on in this world that only a strong nation survives. He also always wanted us to make sure that we were a good and kind nation and spent not one penny more on defense than needed. I think he would have considered the Bushes and other modern politicians to be guilty of capitol treason. and would have ordered them shot for their murdering evil ways.
@heartfire451 - Eisenhower is the General who starved to death 2,000,000 German soliders after the war by housing them outside with little food and no shelter. Serious historians in and out of the military agree on this.
The facts are in a book called OTHER LOSSES, by James Bacque a respected Canadian author.
IKE was true scum of the earth and just as evil, in his soul, as Bush, Cheney, Gates, and Rumsfeld
@holocaustexpert I did not know of the incident with the 2 million germans. I will look it up right now. I always appreciate constructive criticism such as you offered and thanks.
You can't enjoy freedom if your dead, you need a military to protect the country that houses those freedoms, you also need to use that military when that country is threaten.
@holocaustexpert Holy shit cut 90% of the military! while were at it we might as well the rename the United States, New China or New Korea because that who will take us over. You sir are a moron.
@agent4051 We have like 50,000 nukes, both MX-50 peace keepers out in silos in Montana to micro nukes that we make and GIVE to the Zionists. Nobody will invade America. 99% of US military actions are acts of aggression towards others. I think it is a deliberate policy to create many enemies so one eventally attacks.
Then you brand an entire nation terrorists. If that is not the case, then the US military are just murderers pure and simple.
@agent4051 - Actions speak louder than words. I have a masters degree in history, so I know the history of American involvement in hundreds of military operations spanning hundreds of years. USA has toppled more than 15 Democracies in the world in the past 50 years. You read that right.
@holocaustexpert Yeah, and it really saddens me that so few people know what wickedness has been done in our country's name by our intelligence agencies and flagship corporations. I'm always glad to see that at least folks like yourself and some others are aware of it though. I love my country but when it comes to my government that love stops right there. That goes for the big banks and corporations too. Nests of evil they mostly are.
@heartfire451 - James Bacque , author of Other Losses, is now ignored and shunned by the MSM, because
he has exposed the truth of what happened to Germans after the war. You see, Germans were portrayed as sub human, in order to promote the hoax known as the holocaust and prevent folks from questioning it. Its all about covering up the truth, the ugly truth of American and British actions in WW2. Truth is Germans obeyed the Geneva Conventions while we did not . THAT is embarassing to USA.
@America really needs 50,000 border patrol agents on the border as the Mexican economy is declining fast. Once Mexico runs out of oil, and they are, then 10,000,000 per yr will be crossing the border.
Fuckn america is just a big bully we kill innocent lives cause a great deal of colateral damage them build embassies all over the world to keep the world in check
Why can't we be an empire? Because it's always at the expense of someone else. We need to push people down and keep them down to keep ourselves up. This breeds the hatred and distrust that the world feels for us. It's happened with every other empire but nobody learns.
When people begin to support each other to keep global corporate elite/govt./feds. from militarizing everyone, we might see positive change. Realizing that systematic accumulation by dispossession to militarize has been going on for centuries is key! "Every man for himself/dog eat dog” will never work because militarism & control of the masses will ramp. Awareness of the divide& conquer schemes of the elite is also an issue. The emperor has no clothes and people of the earth have the power!
The War on Terror started after 9/11 you idiot, its their religion to fly planes into buildings. 0 terrorist attacks after 9/11 with Bush, Obama over a year and there has been about 10. Your in harms way either way, with us over there your safer. Our military actions only help you survive. The men and women that died are proud to have served the US and keep you little FUCKS that trash them every day safe.
@69salford69 What you are saying is understood, but this fight is not against countries, its against religious extremists who desire to murder every non-Muslim. So you can tell all you want but there are many people out there who plan day and night for terrorist attacks. And if out troops were not in Iraq searching for those terrorists we would see a lot more terror on our land. Most operations are classified so you cant hear them on news
"The War is against religious extremists"...OK I agree with that 100% because religion is an ancient tool used to control the population. There is no such thing as God can we agree?
Surely this War should be a War on ALL religion?
Surely we can't kill Muslims who believe they're fighting for God, and then allow the Catholic Pope to visit our country and bless our people?
@69salford69 a minor difference between Pope and BinLaden in this issue is that Catholics have done crusades centuries ago and reject violence today when Islamists say violence is the only way and every non-muslim shall die. Religious issues shlould not have violent resolution. This applies to all religions.
Catholics may reject violence today because they have no need for it do they really? They're made.
Islam is a rising power and it's violent because it needs to be. There are many ways to end Wars but we can end most of them if we banned all religion.
You can neither argue in favor nor condemn the status quo. All throughout human history there have been national powers that have exerted control over other peoples. Ecclesiastes 8:9 states that "man has dominated man to his own injury". Man is inclined to greed, ambition and violence.
Imagine incompetent and uncooperative construction workers who attempt to construct a home. There will be delays, shoddy quality and eventual failure.
hahahah!!! what a fuckin idiot! if you had any idea about what you are talking about youd be worth talking to. do your country a favour and kill yourself.
Russian Federation and China? rofl hahahahahaha. lets see those 2 country's have killed millions and millions of there own ppl. the USA has never killed millions of it's own ppl.
also this is a dumb vid. the Federal Government does not need to pay for education that is done by the states. NOT THE FED GOVERNMENT! the Fed just gives money cause they can. they don't have too.
Those who don't believe that Americans are addicted to unenlightened savage activities like say, war, should just search videos for gun violence and other stupid ignorant shit like Gatling guns, jet videos and other firearms videos and read the inferior minds comment on them.
The NWO puppet states like USA, UK and EU are the biggest danger to world peace and progress thanks to the Rothschild banking elite.
U.S. Folks, don't forget the BILL OF YOUR EMPIRE! How much did you pay? And how much have paid the other Nations of the world? Empire=militarism-Pentagon-CIA-War-innocent Blood, 9/11, etc.... Don't forget, please!
are you from America? If you are I don't see why we can't be an empire? Safety and Security. When was the last time we were ever under threat of foreign or domestic invasion?
Hitler saw a need for empire as well. Somehow, someone had the idea that guy was going to take over the world. I see parallels between extreme nationalism, religious fanaticism, and fascism in the Doctrine of Manifest Destiny. Makes one wonder how many people have been killed just in the name of "anti-communism."
@TourofDuty07 Many more people have been killed by communism then in the fight combating communism, and most of those people were innocent, whereas the people killed fighting communism were most likely communists themselves or they were fighting for communist regimes.
@founder222 'Safety and Security.' At what cost? Will you sacrifice your economy for safety? Will you sacrifice your constitutional libertys for security? Cause thats what they are doing to get it.
So yes, it may or may not lower your odds of being killed by terrorists. But it comes at the cost of all the things americans are told is right and good.
Personally I would rather be free than safe. You can always fight for personal safety. For freedom, though? That takes a war to win back.
The US is a master at Manufacturing 'enemies' to justify its Imperial Military hegemon. There's no end in sight, as there will ALWAYS need to be an adversarial pretext by which to rationalize the priveleges of wealth & power of the ruling elites & their corporate clients. Mainstream American society will be the last to realize they live in a post-democratic society; They've been conned & conditioned to accept the status quo of power, mass-propagandized to accomodate their political irrelevance.
even in the 90s the pentagon knew the bankruptcy of the US was inevitably soon. the 9-11 false flag attack and wars were planned to attempt to pre-empt national vulnerability brought about under an economic collapse.
the wars were just a emergency plan to keep a broke and humilited america from having to change its way of living.
The Pentagon plans to never leave their (economic) colonizations of Iraq, Afghanistan, Palestine
-The Pentagon must soon again false flag attack it's OWN people: Americans and/or Europeans incl Israeli. TO BLAME IT ON innocent independant civilization it needs to villify
-They plan this soon. Circumstances and world opinion again threatens to defy the US Pentagon-MIC illegal aggressions for profit
-The next attack the Pentagon has in store for us: biological having 100,000's+ of deaths
American Christian Jihadists: What makes us so different is that we own the best and most powerful weapons in the world, can feed our troops 3 square meals a day and give 'em a cot to sleep on too! Oh, and don't forget the clean uniforms as well! We bring bibles and spread the Good News of the Gospel of Prosperity and Consumerism and a ticket to heaven to boot! Google 'Witness for Jesus' in Afghanistan - to see why God has anointed the United States with a military this strong!
I'm sure by now you've heard that CHENEY SAYS NO LINK BETWEEN SADDAM HUSSEIN, 9/11 or that GW Bush has said SADDAM HUSSEIN WAS NOT CONNECTED TO 9/11 or that there is NO HARD EVIDENCE CONNECTING BIN LADEN TO 9/11. Google those key words to find the source. War and occupation is terrorism and the American flag looks so very different when on the receiving end of the barrel of our "freedom loving" kindness.
If america didnt have such a powerful army, they wouldnt be 1 of the top countrys in the world.. soo so what if u half ur taxes go to the army... The army is what keeps ur nation strong.
Respect for the troops out ther- British and American!
Fascism is alive and well and lives on in US foreign policy. The puropse of having a military on the scale that we do has not one thing to do with "bringing demorcacy and freedom to others." Nor does it serve for the purpose of bringing humanitarian aid or to protect women's rights (as in Afghanistan). It's sole purpose IS to protect and secure capitialism and private profit for a few by any means necessary. As you can see living in a capitalist country that it does not "trickle down."
Addicted to war??? I'd say more like addicted to peace, justice, and the American way. Which just so happens to include the right of self-defense and the willingness to bitch-slap any and all of the world's dictators.
I'd say most of the rest of the world is addicted to pussificism, better known as pacificism, even when they're being over-run by their enemies.
Peace is just not defined by the lack of conflict. It's defined by the pressence of justice as well.
And once again...there ya go again, you liberals ALWAYS look at war as bodycounts. It's never about the goal or righteous, always about bodycounts. THAT is why we lost the Vietnam War. Not because we couldn't lick the enemy in each engagement.
Now why is that? Why do liberals always bring up the body count? I'll tell you why....because you don't believe in anything greater than yourself, ie. your body. Those that serve in Iraq believe in the cause, and they're proud of it too.
I serve in the Army. I would rather be chilling at home having a brew than get sent to a war zone, just like anyone would. But I consider it a duty as a grateful citizen of this amazing country to sacrifice my time and effort and even my life, so that everyone else can chill at home with a cold one. Or chill at home attacking the military on youtube. Oh, and my buddies that died in Irag have an answer for you. They think an army is necessary and they want you to be grateful.
Where were the "weapons of mass destruction"? You know, that little thing that Americans were told was the justification for attacking Iraq in the first place. Given America's strategic postion, moated by two huge oceans east to west and with two weak countries north to south, I don't see how a huge military is needed. But it provides lots of money for the military-industrial complex. Eisenhower - himself a senior military man - worried and warned about this as long ago as the 1960's.
Actually, it was the Intelligence reports by almost every major western nation that said they had WMD's. Also, a common misconception was that we attacked Iraq simply because we said they had WMD's. Plenty of countries have them, North Korea, Iran, China, Russia, the US. We attacked Iraq because they were supporting the Taliban. Whether that was reason enough, i won't be the judge. But our military spending is necessary to remain half a step ahead of those who want us destroyed.
The voices warning against invading Iraq were there, they spoke loud and clear (Scott Ritter on CNN). Remember the protests BEFORE the invasion?
An Iraq-Taliban link was never taken seriously outside the White House. It was roundly laughed at. No such link exists, except in Cheney's mind. Where do you get this?
Sadly, this is what passes for popular political opinion today. Fable: The Taliban had NO place in Iraqi society -- Saddam was violently hostile to ANY challenges to his power. I defy you to find a single, credible source that established this hypothetical link that only existed in the fevered minds of the Bush/Cheney neocon warmonger crowd. Besides, Iraq's 50-yr horror under Saddam is the direct legacy of US's own cynical foreign policy. The US sabotaged Iraq's budding democracy in the 50's.
@footballfan9015 Actually it was pretty clear what Bush said about it in many press conferences, the reason was that they 'got' WMDs, no other reason at all. He never mention the Taliban as the main reason in any interview.
Um nice little vid but this is not Militarism. I dont get why the american people are hated for there goverments moves. And the US military personal are just trying to make a living like everyone else but there job happens to be in the military. Alot of people who dont live in the US dont understand that. you join the military get out and you're schooling is paid for and you go on with you're life. unless you die in the military. lol that sounds bad but its the truth
Ever heard of the No Child Left Behind Act? That's the Federal program for funding public education, which comes with stipulations that the schools must bring up the test scores of the students or risk having their funding slashed. Another requirement of this act is that the schools must make available to the military (for recruiting purposes) the names and records of the students names and their academic progress. You might want to google that NCLBA.
well the state government is responsible for schools n hospital, cops, so when the next candidate to presidency says more schools he is lying the federal government doesnt take care of our schools it is the state government.. any high school teacher n student knows this well if the student pays attention
thanks for posting this. i just finished the book last night and it combined everything i've learned in the last year all in one awesome little book. visualisations really help and he's funny with his drawings, too. loved it.
Don't say such a asinine thing of course the military makes it safer. What your thinking of is occupation. If we had no military 9/11 would look like a nickel 0/05. China or Russia would just take us it would only make sense.
The stationing of U.S. troops in Saudi Arabia after Gulf War 1 was Bin Laden's number one grievance against the USA. Why does the USA maintain NATO 17 years after the collapse of the USSR, Warsaw Pact, Berlin wall and East Germany? Why stay in South Korea? Google a picture of the Korean peninsula at night. How would China or Russia attack the USA? Why? China can't even attack Taiwan. As long ago as the 50's Eisenhower warned Americans about the military-industrial complex. Ike was a soldier too.
Of course we maintained troops in those countries after the matter to prevent it from happening again. North Korea is a near despotism driven country they are a nuclear power and there goal is to pretty much destroy and conquer. China is a tolitarianistic communist country. If there was not military powers around the world they would have already spread there borders. The real question is why not? Russia has more nuclear bombs then the US how? Simple drop bombs, they do have a military aswell.
All of these scenarios are very unlikely but that is because of our military. I agree being stationed in countries when they don't want us can and is very detrimental but that does not mean we do not need an actual military.
Yeah, stationing of US troops in Saudi Arabia was one of UBL's top grievances...but so what? You agree with him? We kept them there so that Saddam wouldn't invade it.
Why does US maintain NATO? Have you heard Putin lately? The Russian Bear is starting to come out of hibernation.
Why stay in S. Korea? Because Kim Dong Mentally Ill would invade it the first chance he got.
Taiwan? Same thing...US pressence there is a detterant to China. China is aching to take them over.
S.Korea has twice the north's population and a GDP FORTY times larger. Google a picture of the Korean peninsula at night. S.K. can easily look after itself. Why is Taiwan any more important to America then Hainan island? The E.U. has more people and a larger GDP then America and can easily safeguard itself against Russia. Hussein never had any intention of invading S. Arabia. Check out the book THE EMPIRE HAS NO CLOTHES.
There ya go...using Obama's definition of "timy countries" again. S. Korea's military isn't all that big, yet for anybody to get the necessities of life in N. Korea, you have to serve in the military. Therefore their military is HUGE.
As for the EU, the EU isn't a unified defense force, as each country has their own military. And those that do are very small and unwilling to fight. Germany won't let its troops fight on foreign soil. Lot of good that'd do on Russian soil.
And one more thing about this N. Korea thing. You keep bringing up the picture of Korean Pennynsula at night. Yes, I know about that picture. It was Donald Rumsfeld's favorite pics. It also counterdicts your point. The reason why North Korea doesn't have any lights on at night is because they spend all their money on their military and on building nukes.
It's amazing how often you libs under-estimate the rogue regimes in this world. Size has nothing to do with their potency.
More tha Addicted to War, the US economy is dependent on War. If the US stops waging war, the American way of life will be substantially impoverished, as the war profits will no longer make its way into the American economy. Jobs will be lost; as more workers flood the market, wages will go down. The American Way of life is at stake. If you find that the Military-Industrial complex is so bad, are you willing to sacrifice your current standard of living?
The Military-Industrial complex employs millions of Americans, directly and indirectly. All the military personnel, the contractors that make weapons, artillery, ammunition, high tech, Boeing, etc, etc... create jobs and revenues that help to sustain the American Way of Life. Close to 60% of taxes go to the War Industry, which in turn is reinvested in creating jobs in the USA in the areas mentioned above. Read the book.
Actually, it's much less than 60% of taxes that go to the defense budget. I think it's somewhere close to 20% (up from like 10% during the 90s due to the war in Iraq). A huge percentage (about 60% to 70%) goes to social welfare programs like social security, medicare, medicaid, etc, and the rest is spent on other stuff like research for new forms of energy, NASA or other stuff. I know this from college courses, unless the professors and their books lied to me. What book are you talking about?
I'm talking about the book "Addicted to War: Why the U.S. can't kick Militarism", from which the text and drawings illustrating this youtube page are taken. "Military spending represents more than half..." Some say 51%, if you don't count spending. Social programs, like education, Medicare and Social Security represent a much smaller section of the budget and they don't create animosity, destroy whole countries or create mass killing of civilians, among other things.
CC- it goes beyond just war industry at home. without our military bases around the world we wouldnt be able to keep certain regimes in power and US corporations might lose priority over their resources. essentiall y wealth would stop flowing from "3rd world" countries into the pockets of wealthy westerners.
Well, let's see: Freedom, Justice, and Equality? Or an illegitimately high standard of living propped up by imperialism and endless war for the purpose of enriching our corporate masters and keeping the American lower classes fat enough that they never reach a level of discontent like that of the late 19th century again? Choose security over freedom and you shall have neither.
This is just a flake on the tip of an iceberg that espouses the belicose, belligerent, and hegemonic practices of the US foreign policy since its inception. There is so much more to it, but this is a very good primer.
In order to reach the widest possible audience with this history of the United States, delving into who was actually responsible for the attacks on 911 would not work. Mainstream America is not ready to hear such notions of government complicity in controlled demolition.
i don't quite 'get' your reply. i pointed out that the attacks on 9/11 weren't retaliation from any foreign country -as you're being told in this video- but a 'false flag' operation within the U.S. to further it's agenda on domestic policy, of course you need only to take look at the FACTS of those 'incidents', but i guess your arrogance blinds you
yeah you did, and i think that's wrong. Facts? 9/11 conspiracy theory facts are based off of false logic and outrageous assumptions. And your saying that im arrogant, when you 9/11 conspirists all act like you've got degrees in world economics, sociology, theology, and political sciences. And if you WERE more educated in those areas, then maybe you would see a larger more international view of the motivations, actions, and outcomes of that event. You probably believe in the new world order to...
9-11 was an inside job and one only need to look at the evidence to see this. I am amazed how people/the media can stick their heads in the sand and avoid painful truths. The only place to find it is on Free Speech TV, which is only carried on Dish Network (ch 9415).
Even if one doesn't agree about it being an inside job, the LEAST we should do is have an investigation into 9-11. The "investigation" that Bushitler & Cheney fought like screaming Banshees NOT to have was a pre-ordained farce.
It's the silent wars that are being waged up us everyday that are really killing us. I'd like to see people wake up and stop joining the military and killing for means of population control and guns and drug smuggeling.
Look at our economy! money fleeting, rights fleeting... We are becoming prisoners the right only to spend money! All of the things we did as kids, they no longer do! everything is fading! Bombarded by commercials in the safety of our homes! You need this and that and now you cant sleep, take these pills your depressed! Buy this stuff, look at your celebrities their messed up too! Do and buy this now, for your country! Look at all the things you can buy here! The PPL r just food for this gov!
The biggest cowards are those who skip the military and then later puts on suit and tie and stand behind a kid with a gun and tell them to fire at .. well, anyone
Don't forget the ones who were given special slots in the TX Air National Guard, way ahead of 1000s of better more intelligent, skilled guys, then had the balls to go AWOL then DESERT the military.
The fact he was never put on trial for this is a travesty & abomination, something the world will never forget. What a shame 1 million+ innocent dead Iraqis have died @ the hands of this bloodthirsty monster when just 1 court martial & proper punishment (military execution) would have prevented it.
Ive not read that book but can easily recommend reading "War is a Racket" by Major General Butler, it dates back to the 30s its on the internet and a must read.
finally the truth is out..i just read this book...great...the american people realy needs the truth with no sugar coating. we shouldn't allow anymore of our troops to die.. the government should use our tax money to support health insurance and other shit that can benifit us the people and not the stupid old guys controling our government.
ha...it may make sense to a moron like you, but in general, here on earth, nodody buys your stupid rhetoric and lies anymore. have a nice day. PS. Blowbacks a mother fucker eh?
period...as in grammar, as in static one dimension that reduces and divides life into simple word/ideas that idiots like you confuse for reality? thats a question mark begining of your end.
Supposedly the military - and those who serve in it - are protecting the right to free speech. A fable if ever there was one. But assuming that were so, then I spent 10 years in the military just so I could have that right and USE IT. "Use it or lose it" as the saying goes. Fascism is alive and well and finds its best expression by way of US foreign policy and a police state on the homefront. Most folks in this country wouldn't recognize fascism if it slapped them in the face.
So all the money for war is coming frm taxpayers and not enough is here for the people. Maybe all the rich should contribute to our schools or we should raise tax rates for education and s.s.
Don't kick militarism in America! We need to be able to fight! We just need to be smarter and simply defend ourselves! Why are we powerfull? --A great question to ask.
Can we stay powerfull if we are never at war? Would we be crushed if we weren't powerful?
Starting Wars and Couping Democratic Governments to install US puppets is EVIL America! It is time to make America an Empire of Liberty not an Empire of Tyranny!
This is a great book. The simple fact is the American public has been indoctrinated in to a pro-military shoot em up mindset for several deacdes now and this happens in many forms. The Military Industrial Complex has taken over the government and only when we are blessed with courageous leaders will this bowing down stop. A huge portion of Americans are largely delusional in how they conceptualize our military and the CIA's past, as always being somehow for altruistic purposes. Come on now.
We have made the entire book available for review on our web site addictedtowar dot com/bookpreview.html. One might also find the Arlington West web site useful for reflection: arlingtonwestsantamonica dot org
Quotes are actual quotes. Photos and source material are referenced at the back of the book and are indicated where ever you see number inside of a circle. The bit about the toilet paper has no quote and is therefore thrown in for interest and humor in light all that is examined further in the text.
Count yourself lucky, Silenced140, if you're arguing with atheists. Then you'll actually get to have a rational discussion about something where facts actually matter.
Also, TourofDuty, great work on the video. Keep it up.
If we weren't a militarily strong nation we would probably be speaking German or Russian now. Let's face it, this world has gone to hell, there are too many rogue nations and terrorists to have a weaker military. And whats with "Put down your bible"? Am i arguing with Athiests?
Can't see the forest for the trees, eh? All that shrink wrap around your brain has you suffering from a lack of oxygen? Try reading the book for yourself,or any book for that matter that doesn't regurgitate everything you've learned since elementary school about the red, white and blue.
Yayyy!! Translated in 13 languages, huh? I'm going to bet one of them is Arabic, and another is Farsi. Am I right? So how does it feel to be actively undermining your home country?
The US isn't "addicted to militarism." That's a made-up concept. We have a military. It's necessary to our sovereignty to have a military. We've been attacked here and through our interests overseas. We must take action sometimes to prevent such things. That isn't "addicted to militarism." If you believe it, why do you still live here? Obviously the nation and the majority of citizens have wildly different ideas about how this nation should exist. So why stay?
and WHEN the hell has the average public school asked for fund raisers for notebooks and toilet paper? You buy your own school supplies and Ive never head of a school running out of toilet paper. An isolationist country is a weak country militarily.
Thing is, corporate assholes getting over financed government contracts are the problem. We could have a much stronger military if the government would stop giving contracts to crooked companies. There is a way to keep our military the strongest in the world AND reduce taxes..but there is to many of the 1% squeezing the government for money on bogus overpriced contacts.
Why does it seem that most Americans are so incapable of a national self-examination and critique, preferring instead to embrace the same old song and dance of American Imperialism? Are our minds shrink wrapped in red, white and blue cellophane, so tight that even air can't get in? Give us all a break and put down your Bible and pick up a REAL book for a change. Oh and pull your head outta your *&#$!!
This isn't Mr. Dorrel's book. As for saying anything "good about our military" goes, have you even taken the time to READ the book for yourself? Even if the book has nothing "good to say about our military," one can find 10,000 other sources (not including mainstream media and Hollywood films of that genre) that all sing the praises of and advocates for more from our most expensive, most advanced and our best equipped (with weapons of mass destruction even) state sanctioned murder machine.

Why doesnt America have a right to defend itself? Why does Mr. Dorrel's book say nothing good about our military? All great civilizations and nations had both strong military and economic power that complemented each other! Mr. Dorrel's FACTS are WRONG.
that's like saying there's no diffrence between saying we're not going to deal with someone , and saying we're going to kill them, completely diffrent, we just didnt want to deal with them so we established sanctions, and other foreign policy usualy says, you leave me alone, i leave you alone, and well, they didnt leave us alone.
those attacks were totaly un provoked on 9/11, they attacked because we give women same rights as men, and our way of life, and unless you want to adopt islamic beliefs and burn your churches, or live in constant fear of terrorist, you best support our military!
I just finished the book "Addicted to War." It is great. Everyone should read it. If our world is to survive, we must change to a peaceful approach to problems.
wow this video needs to get some of it facts streight we the people dont pay taxes for war, and our property taxes pay for education. seems kind of funny that property values sky rocketed and in turn raised all the taxes on our homes and we still dont have enough for education. so there you have your real lie. corporations pay taxes for most of our defence. our taxes pay intrest on the national debt. watch it (america from freedom to fascism). it is on google video
We the people DO pay taxes for war. It's a fact. Corporations only pay 10% of the federal income tax while individuals pay 90%. Of the total income tax paid to the U.S. government over 50% is spent on defense. It's not called a war tax - it's called income tax. And yes, we are all paying for U.S. adventurism and militarism across the globe. Maybe it's time to resist.
Pretty basic stuff. I agree the notion that 911 was blowback or reprisal from fern'ers is a myth that should not be perpetuated anywhere. It's US policy but its the globalists and elitists that rule the world that keep this going. Everyone in the bottom 50% of the world pay the costs. US average citizens do not in any way benefit from any of these damn wars. The oil wars are the best example of that.
We have individuals who are using positions of political power for ideological reasons, and a public willing to let them do so. It is difficult to look in the mirror and recognize the face of a killer by proxy. Militarism is the soul of the collection of the American people. Why? Because we believe we have the answer to how life "should" be lived. And the rest of the world had better damn well fall in line! Remember, we now have NUCLEAR WEAPONS!
People of the world Unite against super powers, witch want to enslave you
Fight for freedom and humanity, for good of people, for truth, for Justus.
we should use our energy for reaching peace, and all of us can take steps toward this gift from God, peace is the great thing, by understanding each other and loving another, we can bring this god giving gift to every single human on earth. Call me dreamer but come and dream with me, and then we make a paradise on earth.
I read the book, I love what I see of the video! I am so glad this information is coming out in another media - now all we have to do is help it reach the masses! A real eye opener for the new peacenick. A great educational tool for all. Thanks Frank!
the message is good, but the format is dry. could have been more clever, entertaining, imaginative. that moveon dot org animation with the Ben & Jerry's guy was way more compelling.
The book is an awesome read for all, kids and adults, and now the animated video seems poised to deliver the same quality to even more people. Rock on !
The corporate grip on opinion in the United States is one of the wonders of the Western world. No First World country has ever managed to eliminate so entirely from its media all objectivity - much less dissent.
"It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious. It is the only one international in scope. It is the only one in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the losses in lives. "

Organized crime is another word for it.
holocaustexpert 1 year ago

I think he would have considered the Bushes and other modern politicians to be guilty of capitol treason. and would have ordered them shot for their murdering evil ways.
heartfire451 1 year ago
@heartfire451 - Eisenhower is the General who starved to death 2,000,000 German soliders after the war by housing them outside with little food and no shelter. Serious historians in and out of the military agree on this.
The facts are in a book called OTHER LOSSES, by James Bacque a respected Canadian author.
IKE was true scum of the earth and just as evil, in his soul, as Bush, Cheney, Gates, and Rumsfeld

@holocaustexpert Sir, your either insane or retarded. So this is my last reply.

@agent4051 - Actions speak louder than words. I have a masters degree in history, so I know the history of American involvement in hundreds of military operations spanning hundreds of years. USA has toppled more than 15 Democracies in the world in the past 50 years. You read that right.
holocaustexpert 1 year ago
@holocaustexpert Yeah, and it really saddens me that so few people know what wickedness has been done in our country's name by our intelligence agencies and flagship corporations. I'm always glad to see that at least folks like yourself and some others are aware of it though. I love my country but when it comes to my government that love stops right there. That goes for the big banks and corporations too. Nests of evil they mostly are.
heartfire451 1 year ago
@heartfire451 - James Bacque , author of Other Losses, is now ignored and shunned by the MSM, because
he has exposed the truth of what happened to Germans after the war. You see, Germans were portrayed as sub human, in order to promote the hoax known as the holocaust and prevent folks from questioning it. Its all about covering up the truth, the ugly truth of American and British actions in WW2. Truth is Germans obeyed the Geneva Conventions while we did not . THAT is embarassing to USA.

69salford69 1 year ago
@69salford69 What you are saying is understood, but this fight is not against countries, its against religious extremists who desire to murder every non-Muslim. So you can tell all you want but there are many people out there who plan day and night for terrorist attacks. And if out troops were not in Iraq searching for those terrorists we would see a lot more terror on our land. Most operations are classified so you cant hear them on news
alaskaproduction 1 year ago
@alaskaproduction
We are hipocrites.
69salford69 1 year ago
@69salford69 a minor difference between Pope and BinLaden in this issue is that Catholics have done crusades centuries ago and reject violence today when Islamists say violence is the only way and every non-muslim shall die. Religious issues shlould not have violent resolution. This applies to all religions.
alaskaproduction 1 year ago
@alaskaproduction
Catholics may reject violence today because they have no need for it do they really? They're made.
Islam is a rising power and it's violent because it needs to be. There are many ways to end Wars but we can end most of them if we banned all religion.
Any religious person is a threat to me.

That is mankind today.

It's defined by the pressence of justice as well.

breezeman199 3 years ago
And once again...there ya go again, you liberals ALWAYS look at war as bodycounts. It's never about the goal or righteous, always about bodycounts. THAT is why we lost the Vietnam War. Not because we couldn't lick the enemy in each engagement.
Now why is that? Why do liberals always bring up the body count? I'll tell you why....because you don't believe in anything greater than yourself, ie. your body. Those that serve in Iraq believe in the cause, and they're proud of it too.
Lincoln6Echo1 3 years ago
I serve in the Army. I would rather be chilling at home having a brew than get sent to a war zone, just like anyone would. Or chill at home attacking the military on youtube. Oh, and my buddies that died in Irag have an answer for you. They think an army is necessary and they want you to be grateful.
footballfan9015 2 years ago
Where were the "weapons of mass destruction"? You know, that little thing that Americans were told was the justification for attacking Iraq in the first place. Given America's strategic postion, moated by two huge oceans east to west and with two weak countries north to south, I don't see how a huge military is needed. But it provides lots of money for the military-industrial complex. Eisenhower - himself a senior military man - worried and warned about this as long ago as the 1960's.
breezeman199 2 years ago
Actually, it was the Intelligence reports by almost every major western nation that said they had WMD's. Also, a common misconception was that we attacked Iraq simply because we said they had WMD's. Plenty of countries have them, North Korea, Iran, China, Russia, the US. We attacked Iraq because they were supporting the Taliban. Whether that was reason enough, i won't be the judge. But our military spending is necessary to remain half a step ahead of those who want us destroyed.

12stringsforme 2 years ago
Sadly, this is what passes for popular political opinion today. Fable: The Taliban had NO place in Iraqi society -- Saddam was violently hostile to ANY challenges to his power. I defy you to find a single, credible source that established this hypothetical link that only existed in the fevered minds of the Bush/Cheney neocon warmonger crowd. Besides, Iraq's 50-yr horror under Saddam is the direct legacy of US's own cynical foreign policy. The US sabotaged Iraq's budding democracy in the 50's.

Ever heard of the No Child Left Behind Act? That's the Federal program for funding public education, which comes with stipulations that the schools must bring up the test scores of the students or risk having their funding slashed. Ike was a soldier too.
breezeman199 3 years ago 2
Of course we maintained troops in those countries after the matter to prevent it from happening again. North Korea is a near despotism driven country they are a nuclear power and there goal is to pretty much destroy and conquer. China is a tolitarianistic communist country. If there was not military powers around the world they would have already spread there borders. The real question is why not? Russia has more nuclear bombs then the US how? Simple drop bombs, they do have a military aswell.
LifeLibertyLove 3 years ago
All of these scenarios are very unlikely but that is because of our military. I agree being stationed in countries when they don't want us can and is very detrimental but that does not mean we do not need an actual military.
LifeLibertyLove 3 years ago
Yeah, stationing of US troops in Saudi Arabia was one of UBL's top grievances...but so what? You agree with him? We kept them there so that Saddam wouldn't invade it.
Why does US maintain NATO? Have you heard Putin lately? The Russian Bear is starting to come out of hibernation.
Why stay in S. Korea? Because Kim Dong Mentally Ill would invade it the first chance he got.
Taiwan? Same thing...US pressence there is a detterant to China. China is aching to take them over.
Lincoln6Echo1 3 years ago

Lincoln6Echo1 3 years ago

ConserveCompassion 3 years ago
How is the US economy dependent on war?
dam417 3 years ago
The Military-Industrial complex employs millions of Americans, directly and indirectly. All the military personnel, the contractors that make weapons, artillery, ammunition, high tech, Boeing, etc, etc... create jobs and revenues that help to sustain the American Way of Life. Close to 60% of taxes go to the War Industry, which in turn is reinvested in creating jobs in the USA in the areas mentioned above. Read the book.
ConserveCompassion 3 years ago
Obviously you've never heard of the broken window theory of economics. You must be a Keynesian.
breezeman199 3 years ago
Actually, it's much less than 60% of taxes that go to the defense budget. I think it's somewhere close to 20% (up from like 10% during the 90s due to the war in Iraq). A huge percentage (about 60% to 70%) goes to social welfare programs like social security, medicare, medicaid, etc, and the rest is spent on other stuff like research for new forms of energy, NASA or other stuff. I know this from college courses, unless the professors and their books lied to me. What book are you talking about?
dam417 3 years ago
I'm talking about the book "Addicted to War: Why the U.S. can't kick Militarism", from which the text and drawings illustrating this youtube page are taken. "Military spending represents more than half..." Some say 51%, if you don't count spending. Social programs, like education, Medicare and Social Security represent a much smaller section of the budget and they don't create animosity, destroy whole countries or create mass killing of civilians, among other things.
ConserveCompassion 3 years ago
CC- it goes beyond just war industry at home. without our military bases around the world we wouldnt be able to keep certain regimes in power and US corporations might lose priority over their resources. essentiall y wealth would stop flowing from "3rd world" countries into the pockets of wealthy westerners.
sheepblitzer 3 years ago
Well, let's see: Freedom, Justice, and Equality? Or an illegitimately high standard of living propped up by imperialism and endless war for the purpose of enriching our corporate masters and keeping the American lower classes fat enough that they never reach a level of discontent like that of the late 19th century again? Choose security over freedom and you shall have neither.

Well done!! Bravo.

TourofDuty07 3 years ago
I disagree totally!
We are not paying for the military! The privately owned Federal Reserve Bank is paying for it! And we hold the IOU
All of our tax at the end of the year is not enough to pay the interest on old debt!
And don't forget the 96 Trillion pledged to SS and medicare - that comes down to one million dollars from every single adult in America

i don't quite 'get' your reply. i pointed out that the attacks on 9/11 weren't retaliation from any foreign country -as you're being told in this video- but a 'false flag' operation within the U.S. to further it's agenda on domestic policy, of course you need only to take look at the FACTS of those 'incidents', but i guess your arrogance blinds you
firebloodjsa 3 years ago
yeah you did, and i think that's wrong.

The fact he was never put on trial for this is a travesty & abomination, something the world will never forget. What a shame 1 million+ innocent dead Iraqis have died @ the hands of this bloodthirsty monster when just 1 court martial & proper punishment (military execution) would have prevented it.

Quotes are actual quotes. Photos and source material are referenced at the back of the book and are indicated where ever you see number inside of a circle. The bit about the toilet paper has no quote and is therefore thrown in for interest and humor in light all that is examined further in the text.

NoGuff 4 years ago
and WHEN the hell has the average public school asked for fund raisers for notebooks and toilet paper?

Mr. Dorrel's FACTS are WRONG.

wow this video needs to get some of it facts streight we the people dont pay taxes for war, and our property taxes pay for education. seems kind of funny that property values sky rocketed and in turn raised all the taxes on our homes and we still dont have enough for education. so there you have your real lie. corporations pay taxes for most of our defence. our taxes pay intrest on the national debt. watch it (america from freedom to fascism). it is on google video
interceptor6fen 4 years ago

Common people don't want war. It is the leaders who determine the policy,
and it is always a simple matter to drag people along whether it is a democracy,
or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no
voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders.
Simply tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack
of patriotism and exposing the country to danger.
