  • the first time ive heard mick really use his double kick. (that rhymes! :D)

  • ND eats hipster pussies for breakfast

  • GRRRRRIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNDDDDDDDD!!!!!!

  • When i first seen the title, i thought it was gonna be a Black Flag cover lol. definitly better than Black Flag, no disrespect to them guys, i just like Napalm Death much more...

  • i fuckin love this ep. its mixing of death metal and grind from the other side, grind first! Stay fuckin chuffed.

  • this ep was when they started steering towards death metal, but really its my favorite just cause it still has the brutal rocfall grind style just a bit more death metal influence. great fuckin ep.

  • Its a shame this record doesn't have any screams on it like the 2 before, and Lee's voclas are deeper and more growl-y and less shouted than on the previous stuff. I'm guessing this was a result of them beginning to move towards death metal. This is still basically grindcore though.

  • @Eddgravaged For the same reasons, i don´t like the continuous double bass that goes with the initial scream. Too death metallish for me. I like it more hardcore

  • @manifestoHC Yeah, whilst this is still grind, its got some DM slipping into it. For me true grindcore is free of full on DM influence and is basically a form of metallic hardcore. If you're into that sort of stuff you should look up the song 'Fear of Radtiation' by my band Gran Toucher, total punky grind.

  • @Eddgravaged The problem with your assessment is that Carcass was comonly referred to as 'grindcore' for their first two albums. The two terms were, at that time, essentially interchangeable.

  • @moparmonster1965 Reek is obviously Grindcore to a large degree, still quite death metalish. The fact that Symphonies is called grind is due to the fact the album that preceded it was grind. If it were released without the preivous album I very much doubt it would have been called grind.

  • @eddgrindcore That's not a very good rationalization because if I have a band that sounds like ABBA for one album and we then dramatically change our sound to death metal for the next, you wouldn't call the new album disco, would you?

The point is that grind and death metal, politcal lyrics aside, are basically the same.

  • @moparmonster1965 No, they're totally different. Grind is based in punk, whereas death metal is based in thrash. Just compare the music on Scum to the music on Leprosy and you'll see what I'm talking about.

  • @shockofhyperbole You're referring more to lyrical content than actualy musical structure here because while your example is sound, Carcass' early work is often considered grindcore but has more in common with death metal than punk/hardcore.

My point is that the two are so closely related and intertwined that quibbling about the label is often pointless.

  • @moparmonster1965 You're thinking of basic aesthetics. As a guitarist, I can say that the riffing is totally different. Death metal is much more technical and complex, whereas grind has a punkish simplicity to it.

  • @manifestoHC Death-metallish or not - who gives a shit? As long as it's great - that's all that matters.

  • @NapalmDeathMania just a matter of taste

  • one of the best napalm death songs ever.

  • used to have this lp back in the day..

  • One of my favorite songs of all time, and my personal vote for greatest vocals of all time.

  • @KNessJM

    Thank you for commenting.

It would seem that there's a low appreciation for ND when there shouldn't be.

  • @ClayDanzig138 Fuck that ND should be appreciated by all metalheads!!

  • @ClayDanzig138 I have had a great appreciation for Napalm Death since 89'

  • @KNessJM Napalm is freaking genius, and yeah you're right, Barney is one of the best vocalists ever. I heard too many bands and I've have not found any voice like this, that powerful and deep.

  • @SergeLktrRckr vocals on this by lee dorrian actually.

  • @KNessJM sure thing! Dorian´s initial scream in my opinion is the best in the metal underground scene ever
