My question is- why is America still in Afganhnistan and Iraq, they are obviously not doing any goo, they are just letting the people suffer! And why do the soldiers that go there think that they are doing it for the greater good? And why are people even considering John Mcain for president when he seems to think that war is good and he wouldnt give a damn if the soldiers stayed there for a 100 years??

All I read is comments gathered from media and peoples perception, rather then reality in Afghanistan. Afghans as a majourity are a civil nation, they welcome all the support and presence of Nto and US in Afghanistan inc their Military force. There has been and is 1000's of good news Happening and coming out of Afghanistan, Unfortunatly Media very rarely focuses on good news, but one day soon Afghans will recover from eyars of hardship and truly appreciate these times

So why did the US help make Japan and Germany the 2nd and 3rd most powerful economies in the world? Afghanistan socially, politically and economically is so pathetic it would take 30 years of sustained investment to even get them to respectable levels. You would probably never see a return on your investment either like you see with Japan. Some radical would take over the gov. again.  The task is just depressing.

Japan and Germany bowed down to the U.S. Afghan being a Muslim nation would never agree with the US. Investment is not possible by the US because they do not share similar moral grounds. The religion prevents such. The US will only help a country that is willing to submit their social, political and economic identity.

if the citizens are happy there definitely wouldn't be any problems. That's why so many military/police troops are switching sides and fighting for the militants (As seen on past video post on Al Jazzeera).

We know this (military coming in to earn $)is happening but is there a way to stop it?

The only way I could c this problem resolve is to get other large nations2step in & take over the driving seat.But apparently none of tat is happening so far.

Poor people are more likely to become militants. If there is an increase in militantcy there is a reason for the US to continue occupation. The Defense Contractors continue to make money, there is more money devoted to the Pentagon and the military. The Generals are 'milking' money on the US being there.
