It's actually a human reaction to be pissed when someone cuts your hair by force, over evolution we grow a custom to our hair, it's something we can control by ourselfs, something that defines us. It's the same with any human, by doing this to this kid (all though I completely, 100% understand it) it's normal for him to get sad, it's his personality in a way.

I'm completely opposite. My aunt used to cut my hair. Each time I would say go shorter! But she would leave it like a 4 at the top and 3 on the sides. I hated it! and it would be like 6 weeks between each haircut! One day I got sick of it and decided to do it myself. It's all about having proper mirror placement and lighting. First time I did 0. It was cool but didn't work for me. The next time I did a 1 and it was perfect! I think different lenghts work for different people. the 1 works for me.

I have a few questions. Don't they cut your hair during boot camp orientation? Or are the parents responsible for getting the haircut before the first day? Also, does regulation require that you have a induction(Skin Fade) cut or was that your way of demeaning the kid? Did you lie to the kid and tell him he wouldn't have to cut his hair extremely short? You first told the barber a flat-top.
