  • did you guys know the e2 gts weighs that much that initial turn is not as good as the previous VZ models?

    Sure the VE holds the corners better once it has settled but I found that when i test drove recently.

    My friend has a VZ clubsport R8 with full modified suspension such as sway bars shocks springs etc, and his unbalanced car will maul any VE HSV on a corner. I was actually suprised by my experience as i thought the VE would maul it regardless....

    Vz r8 MODIFIED, sway bars all bushes springs shocks custom allignment, tru trac diff, and other bits and pieces. Now has coil over suspension. If you think that would not beat a stock ve hsv on a corner you need to kill yourself. Stock for stock as mentioned of course the ve is better but not by a big deal. The biggest difference is better control at the limits. The extra 200kg is felt.

    My old man has an e3 gts one month old. I have it right now for a couple more weeks and I'm telling you there is no way in hell it would beat that z r8. The modified r8 is much lighter on turn in and has quicker turn in speeds.

  • superchargers suck, turos are way better, they do not take power from the engine and save petrol, they akso produce more power and do not make a whining noise.

  • @TomlinMetal The whining sound is annoying, dosing is awesome and superchargers can't do that only turbos can. Turbo's also provide more power that does not take power out of the engine and with anti lag there is no noticeable delay whatsoever. and thats why it is more popular and more makers use it.

  • @sixspeed2 Hey mate, this is a Harrop kit which is around the $15k mark including fitting and tuning. You typically make around 100kw at the wheels with one of these kits.

  • @03vyCLUB The HTV-2300 with a head and cam can pick up around 150kw over standard. Adding better components to the bottom end will not necessarily make any more power, however if you lower the compression (which you would) you could add more boost. We built a 427 (stroker LS3) with a HTV-2300 for a customer with a VE GTS, it makes about 220kw more than standard but the blower is now to small, we would option a Yella Terra 2.9litre (2900) Whipple supercharger for this sort of build in the future.

  • brencooke you are right - my guy got into 'throttle files' and improved throttle response but only took it from super responsive to fukn touchy and at the end of the day an engine is an air pump (as much in and out as fast as possible) and high velocity at low rpm is not something every engine can achieve (design).

    I shouldn't be so harsh really as I'm sure it has the goods, just that all mine is 9lbs on a 5l windsor with heavily ported heads/cam/tune and it boils em even hitn it in 3rd at 100k

  • Hear that lack of throttle response and lag down low - fukn soft.

    If it doesn't instantly bark up within a millisecond of hittn it then may as well fit a turbo. I'm spoilt with a Kenny Bell making 790nm 1870rpm, 568nm at just 1200rpm so perhaps a bit harsh but those VE's are like the Boss, nothing down low - torque wins races and turns the tyres - no time for dyno queens!!

    True, but there was a fair bit of control in what was done. Wasn't exactly a race so it doesn't matter too much if you take a sec between gears.
