  • Hey, brighteyes, you most certainly are one blind and deaf person....

  • Mario, fratello, your soul can be felt through the character of your voice, thank you and our maker for blessing us with this. until we meet one day!

  • i heard lanza as a young boy my mother was asoprano on the old tivoli theatre in melbourne i grew up in rough melbourne fitzroy collingwood and it was regarded as being asissy if you had singing lessons but lanza inspired me and 8 years later i was singing around melbourne myself because your mine ill walk with god and this year will complete my diploma of music thanks mario for the inspiration and the music and my voice

  • ok... let me say this. i've sung at lincoln center, carnegie hall, russia, recorded with sony in london, sung all over the usa and europe and on pbs...

and to anybody who doesn't realize the immense talent this man had you know not what you're talking about. the sound is animalistic. his diction is remarkable, he e vowel is amazing and it's open and immensely powerful. there's a difference between size and power and he had unbelieveable power. he would have made any opera house ring.

  • @operacaster

Love it, love it. Wonderful response. Lanza has his detractors. I'm certainly no officionado (SP) on tenors but I know what I like to hear. Lanza's voice is one in a lifetime, never to be reproduced, repeated or copied. Thank you.

  • there's quite a difference in the 2 recordings ML made of this... the earlier one is much brighter and you could tell he was in fine health.. on this recording it's quite evident he was struggling with some kind of health issue... his tone is darker, his high notes aren't as powerful and you can hear he's just not a happy man, at least at the time of this recording...

  • To dear Brighteyes- Not only is such a voice as was given to Mario Lanza an anointed gift, he continues to anoint us with it, leaving us imbued with a sense of magnificence. Such talent expressed elevates our souls, and is our taste of immortality.

  • Makes me cry each time I hear you.

  • Wonderful singing, wonderful song, and a sobering reminder.

  • @ Brighteyes~ "to my knowledge" is poor evidence that you have concerning the state of Mario's heart, salvation and his faith; especially during the time and circumstances surrounding his death. BY you saying that he is NOT one of the anointed, is a declaration that you are; and if so, why do you judge what only God in this case alone knows. When Mario sings of angels and God, he touches heaven and one can feel/perceive his faith and what and to Whom his last cry/prayer most likely entailed.:)

  • Mario to my knowledge is not one of the anointed, so he will not be walking with God or his son Jesus Christ, but if God wills it he may be Resurrectred in to a new world where drink etc will not rule the day, i just hope that he enjoys the rest for there will be plenty to learn and do.

  • This is not the same vocal as was on the U.S. recording, which was done live with the orchestra in Los Angeles in one take.

  • Mario Lanza had a voice touched by GOD. He was destined to be the next Caruso. When I was a little boy my father played his albums all the time, and I grew to love the man and his magnificent voice.I have all of his original albums on LP. I play them all the time. Now he is in Heaven singing to GOD. Bravo Mario ! YOUR THE GREATEST !

  • You're not disrespectful at all. Your words are words of wisdom.

Pictures fit perfectly this beautiful aria.

thank you so much for all these

  • @VieilEtang I agree.

Stoltapaura: Is the first time I see this touching video. Thank you so much for posting it. Lanza's voice is insuperable. Listening to this wonderful prayer and looking at him in his coffin not only makes us realize that this unforgettable tenor did exist but simultaneously brings a pain in our soul to think that such magnificent singer disappeared so soon in life. So all that's left to us is listening to his incomparable recordings again and again.

    Thank you again.
