Is this the version actually taken from the soundtrack?? If so, it's sung by the Bede College Choir of Billingham in North East England... Shame I left in 2002 or it coulda been me singing :-)

Maybe worth to listen to the adoption of this song by Jeff Beck. From his latest cd 'Emotion & Commotion'. He picked up the cello line for the guitar part. Search Youtube on 'Jeff Beck Elegy for Dunkirk'. I think its's also beautiful!

THe music is arranged by D Marianelli, and it is very moving, but the original hymn is by an american Quaker called J Whittier, and the tune is by Sir Hubert Parry who also wrote the music to "Jerusalem"l a great British composer.

I love the pictures. With the music it is very emotional. You can almost feel what they are feeling and think what they are thinking. I love the order that you put the pictures in. It is like at first you see the exterior of her and then as the music builds and the pictures pass, you feel her pain and understand it. Absolutely fantastic job.

It is a hymn, not really a song; just because it is sung doesn't mean it is a song -think bathroom howler, also.

Check out Songs Of Praise on television it is sung nearly every time the show is on.
