  • Was this on tv in the 90's?

  • oh god, paul's pose at the end :') Mr. Show is so awesome.

  • Hell yeah! Mr Show rules!!

  • Ummm, YMMV but for some of you who are complaining about the title...

You keep using that word ("punch line"). I do not think it means what you think it means.

Mr Show is weird. Perhaps you should look elsewhere. There are many fine television viewing options available these days so I'm sure you'll have no trouble finding what you're looking for.

Good journey, friend. May you reach your goal!

  • @smithwiggler Now if this clip had been titled, "Well, I love shoes!", then you'd have a point.

But it would still be on the top of your head.

  • ... AND YOU PROBABLY FAVORITED THIS PIECE OF SHIT ON 'STUMBLE UPON' , SO OTHER PPL CAN SEE IT, YOU FuCKING IDIOT!

  • YOU GAVE AWAY THE PUNCHLINE IN THE TITLE, DUMBASS!

  • Comment removed

  • employers hiring today careerstarttoday .info copy and paste

  • and some plan's...space plan's

    love the delivery

  • it was great. it's crack. it gets you really high.

  • Bob Odenkirk saying "yes!" to angeldust at 1:03 is priceless

  • Bob Odenkirk saying "yes!" to PCP at 1:03 is priceless

  • In all fairness all the good stuff in this sketch has nothing to do with the punchline. They acknowledge that with the overly cheesy reaction at the end. In comedy it's the journey, not the destination.

  • Does anyone know if Cross or Odenkirk ever appeared on Reno 911? They both seem like they'd fit right in there.

  • II people work at shoe stores.

  • @2:37 Paul's world just shatters lmao.

  • There were no punchlines in Mr. Show, you guys.

  • [SOILER ALERT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!]

    you are on the internet.

grow a fucking pair of balls

  • Not funny, I know what a shocker, somebody has an opinion not equal to the rest of the sheep.

  • pussy pounder 5000 should be the name of this and all items to wit david cross spreads his pussy gloss over

  • change the title to 'it's crack. it gets you really high.'

  • Change the title to 'Mr Show: Lie Detector"

  • "It was for charity! "

  • "Space plans."

  • Okay Mr. Pants here we go!

  • One of the main points of Mr. Show is that there is no punchline in sketches. They felt that the body of the sketch is where the humor is and you loose much of that humor trying to get to a punchline. So in sketches like this one where there is a 'punch line' they are making fun of sketch shows (snl) that have punchlines. So the title really isn't ruining the joke because the lame punchline isn't the funny part of the sketch.

  • Without question one of the best unknown shows of all time.

  • "it was for charity!!" hahaha

  • The "punchline" of the sketch isn't the point, here - it's just kind of a goofy thing they tacked onto the end. It's funny, sure, but not the point.

If the title of the video ruins the ENTIRE SKETCH for you, then you don't get it.

  • ...with your mind!

  • One of the most memorable and funniest sketches from Mr. Show.

  • "It was for charity!"

    Very witty sketch.

  • thats the title of the sketch on the dvd! u cant just change the title, cause it might give away the punchline lol

  • what the HELL moron! Don't give away the punch line in the video description!!!!!

  • Yeah I think h3nry1 has "movie where Bruce Willis is dead the whole time" written on his copy of the Sixth Sense

  • "It was great, its crack."

  • It was for charity :D

  • Brian Posehn=awesome.

  • well, i love shoes!

  • "Plans?"

    "Space plans."

    Bwahahahahaha!!!

  • Classic.

  • Lol. "Duuuuuude you're out there!"

  • I was surprised to learn that Bob, David etc. did not think very highly of this sketch. It has always been one of my favorites, yet on the DVD commentary they say that it feels more like a cheesy 80s SNL sketch than something that belongs on Mr. Show.

  • @freeform83 If I remember correctly, I think the gist of what they were saying was more that the premise seemed like an SNL premise, but the end result was really good. I don't think they actually disliked the sketch.

  • Have you ever dreamed of kissing your brother?

  • very nice.

  • A sketch like this has no single "punchline" and there are plenty of equally funny moments aside from the crack getting you high part. you guys are whiners

  • Eh, but him actually getting the job and it just being a shoe store and "I like shoes" really work as punchlines for the whole sketch, I'd say.

You're right, it doesn't completely ruin the sketch, but "lie detector" would be a better description.

  • Change the title, it gives away the punch line.

  • rename bit

  • "Oh god...what a breakthrough."

  • "It was great, it's crack, it gets you really high" priceless

  • Yeah it's a good idea to change your title to Lie Detector Tester. Conceals the punch line and gets more relevant hits. You can't lose.

  • i love this one...

  • ...It's great, it's crack. It gets you really high.

  • Would be funnier if you could conjugate grammar properly.

  • Don't give up on Mr. Show just yet! If nothing else, they're better than Mad tv. Ok that's no big feat but they do have some really good stuff.

  • Now I wanna take one of these tests.

  • That was one of the greatest, most well planned skits ive seen since abbot and costellos "whos on first" i fucking lol'd till i sharted

  • yes, derailing speeding trains with my penis is something I do often as well

  • as long as it was for charity.

  • SPACE PLANS

  • LOL..."It was great..It's crack, it gets you really high"

  • Great title, spoily.

  • stumbled

  • "DUDE, YOU'RE OUT THERE!"

  • Yeah, but I StumbledUpon the video. Therefore had no idea what it was about.

  • Jesus, the whole punchline of the sketch is given away in the title of this video. Great job reducing the comedy value by several orders of magnitude.

  • Chances are most people searching for this have already seen it. Also, you need the metadata there for searching...

  • @Jafo38506 Chill out dude...it's the name of the sketch. That's what the creators named it, not the poster. Go buy the dvd, you'll see the same name. If you're that pissed about it...call bob oedenkirk and david cross and tell them all about how to write and title their comedy. just a side note, the fact that it's a shoe store interview isn't necessarily the funny part of the scene, it's that this guy has done so much unbelievable shit.

  • @Jafo38506 Ha, thanks to you I dodged reading the title.

    A+

  • @Jafo38506 ??? I don't see how the title ruined anything

  • @dracomasta13 Are you kidding????!

  • @RedCloak01 I'm dead serious, sorry if I'm a retard

  • @Jafo38506 Most excellent use of the fantastic phrase "orders of magnitude". You got the usage spot on!

I love that phrase and probably use it way more than I should.

I agree with the 99 thumbs up this comment has received in the last two years and exhort you to keep pluckin' that chicken!

  • now HE is the most interesting man on earth

  • lol "space plans"

  • IT WAS FOR CHARITY lol

  • "Have you ever killed a man..." "BORING"

    "Let me finish...WITH YOUR MIND?"

  • plz help how i change my vote?

    i made a mistake i voted 2!!!

no way when i see bob and david i shout praise the lord!

  • "...space plans"

  • dude you are out there!

  • it was great, its crack, it gets you really high. HAHAHAHAHA

  • cool - it has a punchline.

  • yeah, the title DOES ruin it

  • DUDE YOUR OUT THERE!!!haha

Nasa...jus some pens, and plans, space plans

Hey Remember he kissed his brother!

HAHA One of the best sketches!

  • "It was for charity!"

Such a great show, its a shame hbo played it thursday night at 2am or it could have lasted for more than 4 seasons. I have bought the 4 season box set 3 times (lent out my first 2 box sets and never saw them again)

  • even worse it was behind the chirs rock show on fridays so people ditch out on it before it even aired

  • "They have TWO USES! Heeheeheeheehee!"

  • Comment removed

  • I've seen it 50 times and the title still ruined it. I own the complete collection.

  • Baby Paul F. Tompkins - so adorable.

  • it was great..its crack

  • it's crack, it's great it gets you really high.

  • you shouldn't name this shoe store interview, it ruins it

  • @ising4kings I stumbled onto this, luckily I didn't read the title.

  • @ising4kings How does making it easy to search for ruin it exactly????

  • @bobvillain this concept might be over your head....but, for one, SHOECOURT SHOE STORE IS THE PUNCHLINE, and two, maybe calling it "mr. show job interview", since there was only one that really matter and focused on this process.

go back to masturbating, youre thinking too hard.

  • @ising4kings Well Captain Snarkypants, I can see it didn't occur to you that most anyone coming to this clip is more than likely to have seen it before, thus having it labeled as Shoecourt makes perfect sense in making it easily searched and located. I'll go back to masturbating and you can go back to DJing on your FisherPrice Record player.

  • @bobvillain either way. still ruins it.

  • @ising4kings I still found it as amusing as when I first saw it, so it doesn't ruin it for me at all.

  • @bobvillain Agreed

  • "yes, our story was made into a hit broadway musical"

    best line evah.

  • lmao this is fucking hilarious! :p

  • it was for charity

  • rofl...space plans

  • Why'd you have to ruin the punchline with the title?

  • Mr. Show for life.

  • those two guys in the back are now in the sarah silverman show

  • Wow, Posehn was actually kind of skinny back then.

  • I almost think they wrote this sketch to show how awful SNL was at that point. I know Bob used to write for that show and they cut him. It's a very SNL-style sketch, but this one is 100x better!

  • That guy is my role model.

    "Space Plans"

    lmao

  • it was great, its crack, it gets you really high

  • holy shit that charity line made me shit myself. Seriously I better clean that up

  • Ehh I am so glad that I am not the only one who finds the line "dude you're out there", its such a simple line that makes fun of american societal perception. Before anyone attacks me for being an elitist douche, let me attack myself: Fuck you me!

  • it isn't elitist, it just doesn't make any sense

  • finds it what?

  • "space plans"

  • DUDE! You're Out There!

Brian makes this scene more win.

  • THIS IS THE BESSSSSST !!!!!!!!

  • please change the title

  • Yeah, it does kind of spoil it. Why not call it "Lie Detector"?

  • exactly what I was going to say, the title's a bit of a giveaway. but great clip.

  • rotflmfao

  • One of the best skits they've ever done.

But yes, the title is "Lie Detector". Title should be changed.

  • it was meant to sound like a david cross menagerie of words...i like the fucking title you jackaboob. the right title is on the DVD of the show. the dude put it up can name it what he likes. get off his back, douchebag.

  • great clip. must change title though!!!

  • change the title!

  • it was for charity haha

  • dude change the title, it gives away the punchline

  • space plans

  • Best sketch they did. A train?

  • It's from Mr Show Season #1 (2 dvd set) GET IT!

  • anybody know what episode this clip is from?

  • Meehan....are you crazy? Maybe not, because I blame Carrot Top, too.

  • I love Mr. Show

  • one of my favorite Mr. Show

  • i love brian pohsen!!!

  • "it was great it's crack it gets you high"

  • It was for charity

  • funniest skit ever!!!

  • haha this is hilarious i love it! :)

  • i meant to rate it 5 star, but hit 2 star by mistake,, D'OOOOHOHHHHHHHHH!!!

  • this is their funniest skit EVER!

  • it is illegal to ask ppl personal questions during interviews..but then again it is a show lol

  • Ahaha...

  • THAT WAS FOR CHARITY!!!

  • Hysterical

  • whats the hip broadway musical they mention?

  • I think its M butterfly but I could be wrong there

  • No, M Butterfly is about espionage and wasn't a musical. I don't know what musical they are describing.

  • No i'm definitely right, I know that now

I think either the musical was called either madame butterfly or M butterfly

  • No, it couldn't be M Butterfly since it isn't a musical, there was no singing. Madame Butterfly was Italian.

  • No, jogiff is right, M Butterfly is about a cross-dressing Chinese spy and Madame Butterfly has no cross-dressing.

  • yeah, you should just say "The Job Interview" in the title to spare the punchline

  • Just some pens, and some plans......space plans.

  • best sketch EVER

  • "Ddddude your out there!"

  • it was great, its crack, it gets you really high

  • Way to ruin the punchline in the title of this video.

  • yeah, the title should be changed

  • LMAO... Mr.Show is so awesome. "...after you derailed it with your penis...it was for charity!" Classic!

  • hilarious

  • "it was for charity" ahaha

  • I love this skit, seriously the best skit ever.
