  • esta bien chafa

  • Since its so basic and its just a web browser, I read on Wiki It'll run on ARM processors, does that mean that it has the potential to run on Iphones/Ipod Touches with relative ease?

  • @yasorachi You would need to get the source and compile it to run on the processor for the ipod/ipad/iphone. Even then it would need customization to have zoom and special buttons to close tabs.

While it's possible... it's not worth it to cut down a more capable device and limit it to such simple tasks.

  • @DefconComputers ...lol I'm actually not sure why I thought it would be a good idea last night. But it does sound like a fun project just for show off purposes though. o.o

  • We can say "Infrastructure" and until reasonably priced universal unlimited wireless Internet access becomes available the Chrome OS will not have it. Nitch users will always be, mainstream this ain't! Challenge: Find a reputable positive comment about Chrome OS.

  • I agree with varquez7!!!

  • "Google" Chrome OS = Epic Fail, probably THE WORST OS, ever made.

  • what's with the double epic mouse? D:

  • Rubbish

  • Where can I get this operating system?

  • @ZieVideoGuy it's still in beta, and when it's released it will be embeded in devices so it won't be a download. There are plenty of sites offering it in a virtual machine, but no big improvements from what you see in this video.

  • @DefconComputers wait what, its going to cost money, why, theres no reason for them to make money on this, in my opinion

  • so, chrome os is basically a linux distro that can't do anything but browse the web...

  • i don t know why are so many critics here but I love Google Chrome Os because i know a lot of online applications who does the job better that offlince applications. If you need a Online Word just search google, if you need a online photo album just search google, if you need a hot women same, search google haha.

My job is executed without any problems with a tons of online applications, and i love it !

  • @ericmotanu it all sounds real nice and all, but thing is you can get the same apps on a regular netbook running windows, with google chrome and still have more functionality.it's just basically the same thing.im no hater but they gotta make this dirt cheap to compete with regular netbooks.

  • I think you guys really miss the point, as did the reviewer. ChromeOS is supposed to be an Instant-On OS it's not supposed to be for full fledged notebook or desktop computers. The target is a Netbook or tablet device of some sort, probably without even a hard drive. Being as lightweight as it is already you could get by with fitting everything in 16GB of storage.. A'la iOS on iPod or iPad, etc. The simplicity of the OS and the Cloud-centric nature is the whole point.

  • to fix the problem with in loggin (you can do it i Virtalbox) if you change the network fron NAS to bridge it will work.. donnon if any one said it..

  • these comments reminds me of when android was starting out ...

an OS for a phone that is ridiculous... oh well

  • I will never ever buy a computer to install this OS.Why having dvd-rw, quality ghrapic driver, and all other s**t if you cannot use it. You cannot use office, msn and so many other things.Watching video's from a DVD?or adding photo's/movies from your camera to your computer,it will not be possible if I see this video.90% using webbrowser only?yeah right?!You'd better install Ubuntu than.It can do anything windows can and is already use-able after 30 secs pushing the power button on my 7y old pc.

  • @MisterJoah this is you're opinon, but I telling you that my job can be done with google online applications, and for me Chrome OS is more than perfect !

  • Chrome will be good for libraries, authority pc's and thats about it..

  • Utterly non-impressive OS. Basically, just a browser.

  • You don't need a shutdown.. you just turn the fugger off

  • can u play games on it? Like if u install a PC game?

If the entire thing is stateless, how can we keep our data confidential? I mean google can snoop into it

  • @DreamRaider1111 It's all in how much you trust them.

  • @DreamRaider1111 no way

  • @DreamRaider1111 the Chinese can come in and jizz on u r data anytime they want :)

  • @DreamRaider1111 You know after all my dealings now with Google, I trust them even less now. I don't think I could ever use this unless it was only for browsing other websites and nothing that is Google powered.

  • @DreamRaider1111 well for wat i saw i think that the only games that you can play there is web games like flash games an shockwave games only cuz its not an sistem operative its like a mini aplication for netbooks so it can run faster cuz the only os that runs fine in netbooks is WXP cuz W7 runs kind of slow thats if you have an netbook with 1 Gb of ram like mine :3 but its seems kool and good por ntbk that is only for web use

  • can u play games on it? Like if u install a PC game?

  • @DreamRaider1111 It is just a web browser, there is no way to install applications. You only run web pages/web apps (ie gmail, facebook, twitter)

  • @DefconComputers Chrome OS Final will be just a web browser or just in this beta version ?

i mean, the Chrome OS, is a complete OS or just a web browser ??!!

  • @nourlines It will only ever be a web browser. That is the goal, just browse the web.

  • @DefconComputers ohhhh my god!, i thing Windows & MAC OS & Linux still the only OS can be used.. its not a nice news for me.. web browser !! what a crazy goal !!

Thank You DefconComputers for your video and comment

  • Imma install this on my nans pc, seeing as she has no clue how to do anything with a computer apart from the web, this will make it all the more easier

  • now who would like that no for thumbs up yes for thumbs down

  • haha if you dont have internet it sucks

  • @Jakob0andreas if you don't have internet on Windows/Mac/Linux.... it sucks..

  • @Jakob0andreas who doesn't have acces to the internet in 2010 ????

  • @ericmotanu A lot of people. And please count the situations when you need to work on an important document while you're disconnected from the internet, like in a plane, and you won't be able to use your google chrome OS netbook for anything during those times. It becomes useless.

  • @ericmotanu My school is running DSL and there's at least four kids in each of my classes that have no internet access.

  • the os is a browser... THAT THE DUMBEST THING IV EVER HEARD

  • It'll be perfect OS for netbooks.

  • So basically they've said, "Nah, you dont need a proper OS, where you can actually do things, all you need is a web browser".. WTF!!! I really dont think this will do any good, as Linux based OS's and XP work fine for net books and other portable devices.. STUPID!

  • Looks too simple. Worse than the iPad OS, and that's saying something.

  • @PoliticalHell It is simpler as it is only the browser, it only does web browsing. However ironically, you could connect a camera or other USB device to the system and browse the files on it. Something the ipad can't do without addons.

  • If they are trying to go with a simpler use, I do not think they will get many fans. I think the whole "all done online" isn't really what most of the people who are going to hear about this, want.

  • @minyo5 Google's plan is for HTML 5 to catch on, and with HTML 5 have built in support for offline web applications. If so then their simple browser operating system can run any normal special web applications. However I don't see any web app approaching the capability needed for serious word processing, only basic formating.

  • google has got alot of hype in the past anyone rember the faller gos. so far chrome os seems tro be just as lack luster.

  • @luther349 My parents used to think that the browser is the internet :P!

  • The hype is all in the name "Google". Remember how everyone hyped up that the Google phone would be the best thing ever, and then Apple stole the thunder with the iPod. Then Android is released and hardly anyone cares about it now.

People were very hyped about Chrome OS because they thought it was going to be a full fledged OS and be free, and now they see it will only run on specific hardware, and is basically linux... I expect it to fade as well.

  • Two finger scrolling does work im in it right now

  • I've looked at some laptop pads that apparently they just detect the motion and send to the OS a mouse wheel up or down signal. So I don't think this is a feature of the operating systems anymore... Which is cool!

  • Defcon, Vista started up on my Celeron D 356 system with 1.5GB DDR2 266Ram

and started up on Vista Ultimate in about 7-14 seconds (OS boot time, not with turning on, BIOS splash, POST etc.).

(That was before I changed my system.

  • @AmH032uTuBe Sounds about right to me. I am not terribly impressed with the boot times I've heard and personally seen with Chrome. For something that does internet only it should be instant on, which means it should be running directly on a chip or always in a sleep mode when not being used.

  • Well Defcon, that's where ASUS ExpressGate comes in! :D
