@CityIzMyRez That's a little narrow minded. You can't generalize any group of people that way. Sure, some Christians hate homosexuals (but then again if they have hate in their hearts they aren't being true Christians are they?), and some support and love them. Acceptance is key. Not people like you telling everyone who hates gays to fuck off. You have your opinion, so do they. I personally side with you when it comes to gay people, but arguments like yours aren't getting us anywhere.

@Bucefal80 Oh, it's quite simple. You see, civilized countries don't find killing at whim to be humane, for one.

And, two, they actually use sense and reason and understand that the idea of gays being perverts is an archaic stereotype that's been dispelled by the medical community 2 or 3 decades ago.

And, three, it was a really good movie. Generally you celebrate talented art. That's...kinda a given.

Harvey Milk is one of my heroes. He stepped up to society and went against "moral values". His speeches were amazing, and his courage was. When I did my persuasive speech on gay marriage, I used Harvey Milk's words from this video (of course, gave the rights to him).

I watched the movie and read up on the man. He was a gay-rights activist and believed in strengthening neighborhoods.

He was a great American, but not a great politician.

I am a 38 year old gay man, I only learnt about Harvey last year whilst in San Francisco. Saw the film last night and I feel ashamed that I havent educated myself sooner to the fantastic efforts of people like Harvey. We now live in a society where there is legal acceptance and we have to remember the fight our gay older brothers fought for us. We should teach this at school. Harvey Milk makes me feel so proud.I reccommend all young gay and lesbien people see this film and take notes.

I wouldn't worry to much about homosexuals destroying the moral fabric of society. The heterosexuals are doing a pretty good job all by themselves. Most of the gay people I know are kind, considerate, hard working tax payers with more class and morals than a whole sack full of heterosexuals. prop 8 reminds me of those old signs that read "no coloreds allowed". remember how white people used to think how correct that mentality was? and now thats considered inappropriate. prop 8 is really not too different from saying "no coloreds allowed".

He fought and persisted for a group of Americans that were consistently the victims of prejudice (and still are today) -- the gays. He promoted equality and justice for ALL people, and THAT is why he is such a great American.
