  • the announcer called the 2ndhorse Flying paste er' but to me was always"Flying past her" in pronunciation. Thanks for the excellent post.

  • You're very welcome. Have you heard his name called in a race as "Flying Past her" before this one?

    Take care.

  • The Bid was brilliant as usual. Major props also to the Paster. Flying Paster was a super horse. Because he ran most of his races in Cali, I dont think he has ever received the national attention he deserves. At 2 he won the Del Mar Futurity and Norfolk, at 3 the Santa Anita and Hollywood Derbies, at 5 the San Carlos, San Paqual, and San Antonio. At 4 he beat everybody except the Bid in his first 4 races: Malibu,San Fernando,Strub,Big Cap. And he really made the Bid work in this one.

  • shout out to the great cf 70.

  • I very much appreciate your kind support.

    Have a good week!

  • Flying Paster was another one of my faves, but Spectacular Bid was just a completely different animal. He was as good as a horse ever was. Thanks for posting!

  • I wish they still made horses like this....now you win 3-3 like Big Brown and people (check out the comments on his FL Derby win) are calling him the best they have ever seen...great to see these races again.

  • because a lot of these never seen the bid,the truth is if you come from the youth generation, they never saw real talent as relates to pop culture, when you realy go back in time ,you have sinatra, ella, armstrong and many more, today kids have britney and miley, not exactly comparable to the all time greats.

  • @drfager01 : Hear, hear--I second that emotion. I'm 61 and I think horseracing is just a shadow of what it used to be. Ridiculous purses, pampered horses, emphasis on speed instead of stamina. I'm beginning to think that Affirmed will be remembered as the last Triple Crown winner...

  • great race, bid made a huge comeback, flying paster is my mare's sire. she has GREAT bloodlines. he was an amazing racehorse. we need more horses like him

  • Wow, what memories!! Thanx for posting this great race. Love Dave Johnson as a track announcer. Do you or anyone out there have any races with the great Vigors?

    Thank You!

  • You're welcome. Dave Johnson sure was good back in the day.

Fellow youtuber "fightsnraces" has Vigors in the 78 Big Cap. That's a fantastic clip.

    Thanks for watching.

  • no horse is ever going to be like the Bid gotta love the Bid no matter what anyone say he is the real deal, simply a horse that can do anything thanks for posting this

  • Glad you liked it. I love The Bid!

    Take care.

  • Excellent race call by Dave Johnson, who worked the race for TV and on the Santa Anita PA system.

  • Yep, Dave was terrific. Thanks for watching. Take care.

  • Thanks for posting this CF, I have been looking for the Strub series for quite some time. This is wonderful stuff!

  • You're very welcome, glad you liked it. The '80 Strub Series was/is a real gem, I'm happy to share it. Thanks for watching. Take care.

  • Flying Paster appeared damn menacing, but it didn't look like Shoemaker was much worried.

I think he was worried about Relaunch stealing an easy lead.

  • Excellent race, thanks for posting...

  • You're welcome. Thanks for stopping by. Take care.
