yeah like Trustin said...you did an excellent job my friend sharing what the distinctions are and definitions of bishop, elder, apostle and such. It is very clear that salary is not the norm. It is right to give these ministers support if they rule well. Sure any saint wouldnt give to a leader who really is an awesome example. But to set salaries/pensions and such taht we see nowadays is profiteering. ALL men should work for their food. Hospitality is for everyone. But we love good leaders.
Scripture tells us that those people who travel from town to town are to recieve food and lodging only and should not stay more than 3 days. But if thre is no existing pastor in the town they can than stay and become the towns pastor (elder), in which case they should be supported financially.
Today, however, traveling pastors recieve much more than this. Benny Hinn, for example.
And than there is the question of how much a pastor should recieve.
@TrustinJC The Bible does not set a limit on how much ministers of the Gospel need to live on. All of us are responsible before God for how we handle earthly possessions. Seeing preacher's drive Ferraris or Mercedes while the congregation drive Hondas doesn't look right to me, either. Esp. those preachers who preach about their fancy cars as if their possessions are a mark of spirituality.
@TrustinJC The 3-day limit you mentioned is from the Didache and not the Bible, it could be about people imposing hospitality. It's not in the Bible anyway. There is no restriction on supporting them only while present. Paul received support from churches when he was not present there. A gift is gift, and one may receive it.

Pt 2
Should a pastor become wealthy and live well above the means of the average person?
The Didache specifically warns against turning the preaching of the gospel into a trade.
You never covered the issue of "how much" is acceptable other than to speak on the double honor idea. So what do you think?
You did a great job, by the way, of explaining the definition of elder and pastor. Good message
