From this very port sailed Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo for the first time on June 27, 1542 with three sailships all the way up north along the coast of Mexico, discovering what is today the ports of San Diego and San Pedro in California, among with others (Point Mugu) being the first europeans in the west coast of the United Sates, now the name of Juan Cabrillo is everywhere in the San Diego area, schools, streets, even there is a National Park bearing his name, all of this coming from a little town
