They're both good, in my opinion and I don't think one can rightly compare them - Enya's version is soft and romantic and yet powerful in a very calm, lullaby-esque way. Celtic Woman's version is more upbeat, and more adventure than lullaby-romance.

Overall, I prefer Enya's voice - but both versions of the song are good, though I'd choose Enya over CW purely because I prefer the soft, subtleness of it.

Love the Celtic Women. Their Performance in the open air environment superb; orchestra and choir great. Great Performance. Enya on the other hand has a romantic story to tell; it is about a great and powerful river, the Orinoco, and her voice portrays the many moods of the river. Therefore Enya to me is still the best.

I think Enya is better, instrument wise. It was really intended to be more of a song with Irish undertones, however it is a song about the studio, Orinoco Records, and their struggles with the song, it also has another meaning about the Orinoco River, however to get caught up in the song's melody, most people do not even listen to the words, but they should, because it not just about taking chance, and hard work, it is also a statement about the world itself...

Celtic woman: Their vocals are clearer (I could never work out what Enya was saying, now I know!). I prefer the natural sound than the weird synth-y sound of Enya (although I do like Enya in genera;). And although Enya's is more "simple" so to speak, rivers are powerful things and I think the orchestration and choir suited that power.

I'm a firm believer that you shouldn't cover anything if you can't do it better or bring something new to it, and I like the Celtic Woman cover.

I love Enya's version of course, after all it's the original one. But she has the advantage of having all the studio controlled conditions. Performing live is an altogether different challenge, and here the Celtic angels perform superbly. So I wouldn't classify any version as "better", both are enjoyable in my opinion.

Enya is a master of her craft and to put this together in the first place is simply astounding, but for all that Enya could not sing this in public,  to the best of my knowledge she has never done a live tour! ...So performace wise and for sheer voice talent Celtic Woman are better they nail this song, it sounds better and more natural than the original . Of course that's just my opinion for what it's worth :-)

Enya has definitely got to be the winner no question. Celtic Woman is good, but they use an orchestra and a huge background chorus when Enya is all by herself. Plus, Enya played pretty much all the instrumentals and did all the vocals in her song and took forever to make her video(s).

Although they sing it very well, the song was transposed up a few keys to fit their voices better, and the song lost some of the deep, full timbre the original is known for. In short, the Celtic Woman's version is a beautiful piece in its own right, but I prefer the original.

They don't posess Enya's richness of voice. Any choir can replicate the sound, with or accompanied by a big band. Their middle octaves lack timbre, sometimes they are flat and out of tune, and all have receding foreheads.
