That was fucking sick at 2:45! I love it! Now I know what I need to do before I die: drive a Delta S4 on a narrow dirt road at 150mph. Look at how the tires still spin up dirt even when the car is going straight ahead at 100. Anything that involves cars getting all four wheels off the ground at high speed on a routine basis is good in my book. Especially if it is on dirt! To bad Group B can't be as cool as NASCAR; they put those poor rally drivers to shame, driving in circles like that. (joke!!)
It's mostly because of the tire compound, they didn't even have special compounds just for rally racing back then. The rest is the driver taking advantage of the cars disadvantage by pulling the car around with it's front wheels and pushing with the back wheels, that's just how you should drive a 4WD, no matter what the tires are like.
Actually, unoficially at the Tour De Course Rally in 1986 the S4's power output was 612 bhp. The Peugeot 205T16 was putting out 600bhp plus, and the Audi Quattro S1 was putting out 650bhp (Audi got the engine in the S1 to put out 1000bhp, but unsurprisingly it didn't go round corners very well preferring instead to go straight on!!!). Group B was always, and still is, the best!
Where are you getting your figures from? The figures given by the teams were never intentionally altered because there were no power restrictions in the Group B class, they had no reason to fake a lower power output. The S1 was reported to having a little over 600hp, it was something like 451kw which converted to hp would be 604.55 and that's only at the engine not the wheels. The S4 and 205 obviously didn't have more than the S1.
@kisetsushin I might confuse u a bit, but both 205 and delta s4 had more bhp than S1. Delta was known to have around 650bhp at the end of group B era, and 205 had far over 600hp when audi used to have 300 with older model
When the Quattro had less power and a longer wheel base it wasn't the S1. So yes the 205 would have had more power before they made the S1 since it obviously didn't exist.
The S4 never had 650Bhp during Group B, you're talking about the Autocross cars, which had significantly more power.

yeah most of it was in new zealand and some of it was in finland. i saw a couple of shots of the australia rally in there and the one where it's chasing the metro is in san remo i believe. it could be rallie de corse but i'm not sure.
You're pretty well informed, i actually could only notice the New Zealand parts at the beginning and the Sanremo. I got the clips from a video that was narrated in Portuguese, so i really had no idea what was happening in it.
you can pretty much tell by the scenery. every rally has it's own "characteristic" surroundings i guess you could say. if the roads are wide and smooth and lined with tall trees, it's finland. new zealand is similar to that but instead of tall trees it's lined with pastures and grazing land with wire stretched on fenceposts. australia is easy to spot because the dirt is red and the roads have wild forrests on all sides.

The 451KW figure i gave was from Audi themselves, and it was from the flywheel, 604.5 at the flywheel.
