  • Best song Brian Wilson or John Phillips never wrote.

  • A very unusual single in that it extended over both sides of the record (the only previous examples I can call to mind were the Barron Knights' spoofs - "Call Up The Groups", etc).

The only time the BBC played the full version of this was on "Pick of the Pops" one Sunday afternoon, when it had reached what proved to be its highest position in the charts.

  • What a great song !!!

  • You're welcome, 26greenrose-san!!

August 1967 Scott McKenzie was #1 with San Francisco (Be Sure To Wear Some Flowers In Your Hair)

One month later, The Flower Pot Men reached peak position #7 in the UK charts - September 1967 -

    Famous in France as well.

  • Was this even a regional hit in the USA? I don't remember it. Sounds very much like the Beach Boys. Very nice. Now I find out on Wikipedia that they were Brits!

  • I think this song did not make a hit that much in USA.

    Of course in Japan too.
