Just extraordinary. This song was first made popular by R. H. Harris and The Soul Stirrers; some say it was the first gospel hit within the quartet field. The Selah Jubilee Singers had the hottest quartet record of the early 40s with this song, and Sister Rosetta Tharpe was magical with it, either as a solo and as a duet with Marie Knight. But Marion Williams found stuff in the song that none of them had imagined. Sheer gospel bliss.
