I have the same white face cockatiel as yours...Rio also lost all his flight feathers, half of the smal feathers on his right wing and 2 tail feathers 2 days ago. He had a night terror, the thrashing around in his cage and bashing into the bars, luckily the bleeding stopped. I sat with him for nearly 4 hours until he had calmed down. Poor little guy..guess he's 'grounded' for the next 2 months until his feathers grow back. He also won't stretch his right wing fully out. He's so quiet too,
He can lift his shoulders, but can't stretch out his right wing. There is a drooping feather, but that's not his problem. He screeches when he tries to preen. He is in a really bad mood.
Thank you. He is going to see the avian vet at 9:00 AM this morning (Aug. 16, 2010). He pulled out that feather and a few more and is sitting quietly as long as he keeps the wing still. He is eating but not drinking, so I am trying to give him water on lettuce leaves. He doesn't like vegetables, though.
At his vet visit yesterday ,the broken blood feather was cut off. We are giving him pain medication for 2 days and he should be fine. The broken feather was at the very tip of his wing and hurt him whenever he moved it. Thanks for your concern. Gimli Goffin is relieved, too. Alice

my cockatiel has all these feathers that havent grown behind his wing and they have so much blood in them that they look black
