@kathryn120 I love to zone out during any kind of spa/hair appt, too. I think (most) of the facialists, etc that talk a lot do so because they are trained to be "friendly" and for them to assume to just be quiet during the procedure would seem cold and rude. really good, professional ones know how to speak softly and gently in the beginning when they have to and then just fade away into silence. I think you just need to say in the beginning something like "I love to zone out during this"
This is a great& spa massage spa facial therapist..she follow the rules.. Never speak to a client when he is not asking. ^_^ good job..oh nice therapymusic too.. :D love it
I WISH IS WAS THIS GUY IN THE VIDEO, and I would make 2000 appointments with this woman. It is FANTASTIC that she doesn't say a word during the whole thing, and that she actually wants you to relax and be in the moment. She really follows the rules of what massages were made for: relaxation, calmness, SILENCE. And by the way, the guy's got a nice chest. :)
Her technique is good, but I wouldn't advise her to use oil or any kind of lotion for this type of massage. And personally, I think she moves to fast.... it's not as relaxing if you move that fast.

It would almost be worth it though to get a good facial. What is it with facialists in the US? I've never been to one that can be silent. Is it nerves? The culture?? I just find it so frustrating, and how do you politely tell them that you don't want to talk?
Already when you make the appointment with the facialist, just tell her/him that you want facial massage in silence because you want to meditate through the session. It's you who pay for session. It's the same situation when you take a taxi. Make it clear from the beginning whether you wanna talk or not.
I bet this guy's getting more than just a massage of his face...
