  • I can't seem to find a runway to land on. How did you find one?

  • How do u set auto pilot

  • @ComentateACB sorry for the late reply. to turn on AP just go to the cockpit display. there you will see a white switch. just switch it on and you're good to go. once you have the AP on, you can use the heading, altitude, and auto-throttle controls as well. actually, i'm pretty sure you can use the auto-throttle without AP on.

  • lol now take auto pilot off and land mate

  • @clones234 I'm glad you found the video funny. There is another video that you didn't see where I land without AP...mate!

  • @pilotwave fair play to ya son

  • every time i put it on auto pilot it flies past the runway plz help

  • @shevi96 best to use brakes when you touch down or quickly turn off the AP.

  • @pilotwave thanks man.i tried it manually as well and i landed almost perfectly just forgot to take out the landing gear hahahahaha

  • and how do you use AP? i bought this app yesterday, i'm trying to downgrade and jailbreak so I can record my screen

  • @GoingToBeAPilot1 Go to HUD. There you'll find a white AP switch. Turn it on. This will lock your current pitch/bank. The other three are to lock heading, altitude, and throttle.

  • @GoingToBeAPilot1 Sorry, I meant go to the cockpit display. You'll find the AP switch there. Apologies.

  • @pilotwave Oh thanks!!!

  • How do film? Like where abouts is the camera?

  • @GoingToBeAPilot1 I set it up on a tripod. Having a replay option makes things much easier.

  • Awsome Bro

  • @kishannn10 Thanks!

  • Is it possible to land with autopilot? i only tried landing manually which is kinda hard

  • @1988mrdrachen It is possible to land with AP on. Its what I did in this video. The most important things to do is to keep an eye on the glide slope indicator (circle with two lines). Keep it pointed to the beginning of the runway. This is where your aircraft is going. If you see in the video, this is exactly what I did.

  • @1988mrdrachen yeah you can

  • This is a really fun game for the glorious iPod Touch. Even though I prefer Microsoft Flight Simulator, I'm glad that X-plane thought "Outside the box" and created a flight simulator for the handheld electronics.

  • @ThePokemonMunchlax I love FSX too but it's nice having a sim you can play anytime you want. Check out F-Sim. You will love it.

  • why are people criticizing this in any way? first of all, the airliners that safely bring you from place to place use FAR more sophisticated autopilots/flight directors to land planes..secondly...any little technical thing he could have done wrong means nothing...x-plane (as awesome as it is) uses the most basic of controls and whether or not speed brakes were immediately deployed means very little...it doesn't even keep you on the deck unless youve done everything perfectly

  • Nice video...X-Plane Airliner is a fun flight sim for iOS.

    What airport was this?

  • @rockymountainrandom Thank you! I couldn't agree more. I love X-Plane (especially for the iPad). This was KSAN-09 in So Cal.

  • hey..next time can u do it manually?

  • How the hell do you land!!!

  • @HyperCheeseVideos I was using AP to land in this video. The most important thing to pay attention to during landing is the glide slope indicator (circle with two lines). Notice in the video that I always keep it pointed at the runway threshold. You want to do the same thing during all landings. Flaps should be down all the way and the throttle should be adjusted accordingly. Start pitching up slowly when you're ~150ft. from touch down. Your VS should be < 200 ft/sec @ touch down.

  • How do you get the ILS to work? I have x-plane extreme and I can't fugue it out. Thanks

  • @DiamondPilotDan go to the map. choose one of the finals (ie KSAN 09 in So-Cal). pause. go back to the map, and find the ILS frequency by zooming in . go back to the sim and dial it in. you will have the magenta lines appear in the flight display (green lines if you're using the HUD). also, keep an eye on the glide slope indicator. this will be the circle in the HUD. keep it pointed at the runway threshold. all the best.

  • @pilotwave thanks<3 is there a way to get the autopilot to fly it?

  • @DiamondPilotDan unfortunately no. the AP is very crude. it only HOLDS pitch, altitude, and throttle power; nothing else :( I hope a more realistic AP is planned for a future update.

  • @pilotwave I've seen the A380 landing already, it's wonderful also. However, I like this 777 more...

  • How do you turn auto pilot on

  • @THEROBSWORLD go to the cockpit display. there you'll see a white autopilot switch. next to it, there will be three others for heading, altitude, and auto throttle.

  • @pilotwave thanks but i cant land with auto pilot

i can only do it without

  • Comment il fait pour que le pilote auto aterrise bien et correctement?

  • does anybody knows what trim does?

  • @MADGAMERFREAK it adjusts the resting position of a control surface (in this case the elevators).

  • @JeremyB787 Yep, I definitely wasn't on center line. Unfortunately, this version didn't have reverse thrust so I had to use the brakes. thanks for the comments.

I think you might like this if you haven't already seen it:

    watch?v=opiqvfrMGuc&playnext=1&list=PLFE935D1887B98B26

  • @pilotwave Yep, I understand. But try to put brakes as late as possible. About the centre line problem, it's not your fault. Just make a perfect one without autopilot, as what I'm doing. Good!!

  • @JeremyB787 I have another short video where I make a pretty good landing (right on the center line) with an A380. Check it out when you get a chance.

  • @pilotwave Then just the brakes and the runway alignment. You're close to a wonderful landing now, congratulations!!

  • @pilotwave I'm sorry maybe I'm mistaken, but I see your speedbrakes before the sound of touchdown... I apologize if I've made a mistake

  • Your vertical speed is too high as well

  • @JeremyB787 the PAPI showed two red/two white, through out short final. that would mean I was within the glide slope parameters.

  • Sorry, your speed's right... But try to put the speedbrakes up right after touchdown. Nice effort!

  • @JeremyB787 'try to put the speedbrakes up right after touchdown.' look at the video again. this is exactly what i did.

  • It is a smooth landing indeed but not a good landing. First, you had your brake on which is not necessary. Secondly, your runway alignment is not perfect. Thirdly, I guess you landed the 777 with the speed too high. You should approach the runway with the speed below 160 knots. Good effort though. Keep it up!!

  • What is the heading select button? I was only using ap, do I need to select another button?

  • When ever I Land on ils, I never land on the runway. Sometimes next to it! What am I doing wrong I put the ils code on nav 1 in and switch on auto pilot, un pause the game. And then the plane never lines up help!!!!!

  • @The9187thomas pause first, then select a final approach. this should line the plane up nicely with the runway. dial in the ils, turn on AP along with heading select and THEN un-pause the sim. this will keep the plane lined up and horizontal. you might not be exactly on the center line but you'll be close enough. after that, just adjust flaps and throttle accordingly.

  • Is this on ils?

  • do you have the 4g version? its really bad for an old ipod because it munches up battery, and everything is fuzzy

  • @chazvlogTV No this isn't the HDEF version. I tried it but like you said, it doesn't look very good. The current version isn't too bad. Although, an addition of taxi ways would make it much better.

  • no reverse thrust? not a good llanding

  • @Cathaydude look at the date this video was posted. reverse thrust wasn't available in this version.

  • how do u know when to land?

  • @Sdunny73 well, i try to be about 50-70 ft. in altitude at the runway threshold. after that, ease the plane down. you want to pay attention to the glide slope indicator (the circle w/ two lines); that is where you are going. during approach, make sure it is pointing at the beginning of the runway. practice!! all the best.

  • To make a good AP landing on X-Plane, that's not hard at all. I do it with bad conditions (1 mile visibility & cloud base at about 200ft AGL (Above Ground Level), that's IFR flight.

You have to put in the ILS frequency of the runway, and stay lined up verticaly (glide) and horizontaly (path)... Activate AP, with HDG selected and ATHR when your speed is about 145 knots (B737). When you're about to land, reduce speed & select HOLD in the AP selector. The plane will "nose-up" and land gently.

  • Beeing a pilot, you can trust me guys ;-)

  • Oh btw does anyone know how to land in the XB-80? All I get is:Flaming death. Tap the screen to invoke the menus.

  • I'm getting better at landing, but I'm still a bit wonky...

  • @chazvlogTV practice makes perfect. soon you'll be able to stick every lading perfectly. i'm trying ladings with strong crosswinds and heavy turbulence. its challenging but thats what makes it fun. how do you like the new update?

  • How do u autopilot to another runway after takeoff...... I always put the radio frequency and change to nav 2 but it just dosent seem to work!!!!

  • @daredevil452 There really isn't a way (in this sim) to AP to another runway. This was AP strictly for landing. I will pick out a runway before takeoff and navigate manually (for the most part). Most times, I am practicing takeoffs and landing with varying weather setting. I would like a more realistic AP (heading/altitude select, etc.) but I can't expect so much out of a sim played on a hand-held device. Hoping for big updates soon.

  • i prefer X-plane HDEF 4G

  • @ass23ful Same here. Unfortunately, I don't have and iPhone/iPod4G. I've heard its much better.

  • @pilotwave yeah it is you get all X-plane packages for the price of two! :3

  • @pilotwave hey you can download the X-Plane HDEF 4G for the 3GS its just blurrey but it still works and has all the airplanes so you should try it out and has a cockpit view to

  • does the landing difficuty differ with th planes for example the A-380?

  • thats awesome man, thumbs up :)

  • i could never do that

  • @chazvlogTV I'm sure you could. I didn't do it on my first try. Practice makes perfect.

  • how do you get the wheels out???

  • @redsfootball by pressing the gear button

  • what airport is that (on the game)

  • What FLAP does?

  • @12Edix21 flaps are used to increase lift and decrease the stall speed. they are used during takeoffs and landings. thanks for watching and commenting.

  • I going to buy this! It looks so cool but how come people can buy X plane 9 on the iPhone but not the iPod trouch 4G?

  • How the hell do you find the airport?

  • @MountainOfCrap if you go to the cockpit display, there is a white switch on the top.

  • not bad

  • What is TRM in the above left corner?

  • @zjmik TRIM. In this case: elevator trim. Used to hold the aircraft at the best possible pitch attitude. I don't use the trim very much when using x-plane. I used trim in the landing to pitch the nose up during landing since there was no way to flare the aircraft on AP.

  • What does sbrk doo

  • @TheNiovi Short for speed breaks. They create drag and slow the aircraft down.

  • @pilotwave im not a pilot , but speed brakes do not slow the aircraft by creating drag , they r called " spoilers " .spoilers job is to reduce lift on wings by disturbing airflow thus adding more friction wieght on landing gear enchancing landbrakes function , or losing alttitude while in flight and "some" airpseed . correct me if im wrong .

nice landing tho , but does it have reverse thrust ?

  • @jamesxoxbond Yes it has reverse thrust now

  • how do you do auto pilot on x-plane?

  • @twids4 if you go to the cockpit view, there is a white switch for auto pilot above the glass display.

  • in real life when u land with autopilot on u will CRASH

  • @gogoloop11 ever hear of CAT III-C auto land? how do you think pilots land in low visibility conditions?

  • @pilotwave very true

  • @pilotwave

    well idk that actually

    good to know

  • @gogoloop11 in real life when you make stupid comments you will be proven wrong and made fun of.

  • how do u use autopilot on that?????

  • @bombardierdude15 in the cockpit there is a switch for that flip it on and it's the auto pilot & Vise versa

  • lol, the brake sounds funny

  • @winsun96 lol, I know. every time I landed, I laughed a little because it was so unrealistic. i'm happy they finally have reverse thrust.

  • @pilotwave well, but are they (reverse thrusters) visible? cuz in desktop version even R/T is on, it doesn't seem to be on from the engine on many planes except from super realistic QPAC A320 and x737.

  • @winsun96 no, the reverse thrusters are not visible; at least in the mobile version. there are a lot of little things that I would like Laminar Research to add in the iPod version. The main ones would be a more realistic gear rotation (with doors), smoke on touch down and ESPECIALLY taxiways. I know there are limitations on such a small device but I'm sure it can handle taxi ways. there are other things, but those are on top of my list for a future update.

  • @pilotwave haha... i've never used an iXXXXX (could be Pad,Pod,Phone...lol) so i don't know what it is like

  • @winsun96 it's awesome; for a tiny device, anyways.

  • @pilotwave i'll give it a try when able

  • @piotwave nice i just got xplane desktop for my pc about 2 weeks ago but ive had xplane for iphone for about what 1-2 years now!

  • @pilotwave I agree with most if the stuff you just said I got xplane hd and it's amazing I recommend you get a iPad or iPhone4 just for it or get the desktop version I have both but I must say the desktop version is absolutely amazing with all the custom aircraft to download

  • @BKairsoft I've been thinking about getting the desktop version of x-plane. I recently purchased FSX and I'm very happy with it. The only problem is that I currently have a laptop and can't use FSX the way its meant to be used. I'll probably get a desktop soon. Once that happens, I'll get X-Plane for sure.

  • this is auto pilot

  • I really need to know something. I have a Gen 2 iPod touch with the newest update (4.2 or 4.1.2 I'm not sure) will this app work?

  • @guitarg0d7007 this particular app- its called the hi def 4g one, will not work. buy the regular ones

  • Hey what region and airport is this?

  • @EWRSpotting It is the default region (Southern California). The runway is KSAN 09; listed on the main menu.

  • @pilotwave Yeah I knew it was somewhere in Southern California. Hey they need to add taxiiways and terminals and gates and pushback on this plane!

  • @EWRSpotting You're right about the taxiways and maybe a few 3D buildings at the airport. While I understand their arguments about the limitations of the iPod and iPhone, I'm sure that the devices can handle taxiways and a few more details that would make the sim much more realistic. That said, I thoroughly enjoy playing x-plane.

  • @pilotwave Yeah. Sorry I comment too much. They should add some more planes like the A340-660 Lufthansa, 767 United Merger livery, and the MD-11 in FedEx? On the Concorde, you can't even adjust the nose!

  • @EWRSpotting You're absolutely right...I would love to see some new aircraft added to the sim. I was originally very excited about the Concorde, but after flying, I was very disappointed. The landing speed is very unrealistic and thus its very difficult to stop the aircraft before the running out of runway. While I love the Concorde and consider it to be one of the most beautiful aircraft ever built, I would strongly recommend that they take it out and replace with something else.

  • How do you use autopilot? How do you enable that feature or get to that feature to use it?

  • @oliver18754 autopilot can be enabled through the 'cockpit' button (directly below the HUD button). there will be an autopilot switch along with an altitude and heading hold buttons, as well as an auto throttle button, at the top. the AP in this sim doesn't do all that much but it's nice to have. i personally don't use it very much anymore.

  • is there a flight planner here? like can you fly from one place to another place?

  • @rewindablender ....if you mean from region to region...unfortunately, no. i usually pick out a landing strip to land on before if takeoff. i've heard a lot of people use liveACT for guidance. no a bad idea, i guess. i've never tried it though. there is a separate app called "flight planner" by Laminar (i think) but its for real flights and cannot be used for any of the sims. oh and, the long awaited Concord (Air France) has been added to X-Plane Airliner!!!

  • if only real planes could be controlled by a touch of a finger! lol

  • @MrGunneronline ...actually, modern aircraft are very automated. pilots usually turn on at least one auto pilot right after wheels-up. Even landings can be (and are) done by autopilot. Look up CAT-III C auto land. Not exactly by the touch of a finger but close enough.

  • @pilotwave is there autopilot in this game?

  • @rewindablender ...a very crude one, unfortunately. when you turn on AP, it locks the pitch angle and bank angle. you can also select heading hold, altitude hold (which doesn't work very well), and auto throttle. you cant select heading, altitude or speed through AP, though. i wish it was more like a real auto pilot but i understand there are limitations given such a small device. it certainly has its faults but i really enjoy this sim.

  • How did you set the Autopliot exactly on the runway?

And which of the three Autopiltot settings you have chosen?

  • @Specialagent999 ...you just have to line it up as best you can and then turn on the AP and heading. this way the aircraft will stay straight and level. i would sometimes thinks its lined up perfectly only to find out i'm a little off when i get close to the run way. i would set the time to dawn or dusk so you can see the runway from far off. after that you should have plenty of time to line up.

  • New visual approach coming soon to a youtube near you. suggestions would be helpful.

  • @pilotwave: speaking of v9.552, do you have this issue with the trim where it doesn't seem to work?

  • @bluetail773ER ...I've noticed that. especially with the A320. I don't usually mess with trim but I need it for the the A320 during landing. Its definitely not as sensitive in the latest version.

  • how do you turn on the lights on the plane

  • @SuperSidneycrosby ...there isn't a way to do anything with the lights. unfortunately, laminar research forgot to add the lights in the latest update. i'm kinda getting sick of the unsubstantial updates.

  • @pilotwave can you post a vid of a visual landing? Thanks:)

  • @bluetail773ER ...i've been planing to. school's killing me. hope to have it up by the weekend. any suggestions?

  • @justin21298

same here, dont know what to do after take off :P

    im a noob haha

  • its against faa regulations to use sbreak in flight u have to be on the ground

  • @crackmyback1...yep, you're right! good thing this is just a sim on an ipod touch. i used them b/c i was using AP. i had to to bring the nose gear down.

  • how do u land ILS?

  • @FsimulatorX line up with runway. look at map and note the ILS freq., pause the sim and enter it in. once you intercept, two magenta lines will appear; you want to keep them centered (vertically and horizontally). if you meant how did i 'autoland'...refer to comments below. hope that was helpful.

  • @pilotwave do i turn on the autopilot for the heading?

  • @FsimulatorX ...yes! you'll have to make sure you're lined up fist; then pause the sim and turn on the AP as well as the heading to keep the aircraft level.

  • That was a beautiful landing!

  • @VictorNguyen95 much appreciated!

  • Please explain about the TRIM, SBRK, and Flap buttons? What is the best set to them when take off and landing?

  • @justin21298 TRIM: changes resting position of horizontal tail surface(holds nose up or down). i don't mess with TRIM much. SBRK: speed breaks; used to create drag and slow the aircraft. (down on take off; up after touchdown). FLAPS: used to create drag; lower the stall speed of the aircraft; help create life at slower speeds. the flaps need to be down ~10% at take off to help to get off the ground faster; fully extended during landing (slow speeds; more life). hope that helped.

  • @pilotwave thx ^_^

btw, when we fly, which indicator should I follow to reach the destination? is there any dot print or something else that pointing the right destination to flight? I usually get lost after take off :(

  • @justin21298 The arrow in the HUD shows the closest airstrips but unfortunately not all of them exist. i does get kinda boring. What i usually do is pick out the airstrip I want to go to before I take off. the cockpit display is a really good way to see where you're going and too see if there's an airstrip close to where you are. again, the best the to do is to pick where you want to go before you take off. i wish there were missions, etc. maybe in a future update.

  • @pilotwave it was ILS landing huh?

  • Could you explain the function of / the best set of TRIM, SBRK, and FLAP buttons, both in take off and landing situation? Thx before

  • when i play this my iphone is getting overheat

  • @wonderboy772 there's a lot going on during the game. my ipod gets pretty warm as well but i wouldn't worry too much.

  • it would be greatly appreciated if u could please do an autopilot landing tutorial because me and probally many other people still cant get the hang of this and ive seen no other landing tutorial on x-plane for iphone out there so u could be the first

  • How do you get your autopilot to land for you? I made everything autopilot and made it final approach, but all the autopilot did was flare midair and do nothing.

  • @TheBobbiebob make sure you're lined up with the run way. pause and turn on AP and heading. you want to make sure the glide slope indicator (the circle w/ two lines) is pointing to the beginning of the runway (that's where your plane is going). bring down flaps all the way and control throttle to keep glide slope indicator on the runway. when you're a couple of hundred off the runway, trim DOWN to flare the nose up to reduce rate of descent. throttle up if needed. hope that helps.

  • @pilotwave Thanks for that, helped a lot.

  • wat plane was that?

  • @AZNation10011 the boeing 777.

  • hii what airport is that and wat area .. thanks :)

  • @jilj123 So. Cal. KSAN 09/Final, i believe.

  • will sumone tock to me

  • i have a frend that has a iphone and a ipad

  • Ok cool. sorry for all the posts, it wasn't working right so I kept trying to post again.

  • @fricky172 no worries. youtube is annoying sometimes.

  • @pilotwave what airport is that and what area :) thanks

  • wow, sweet! I am impressed it runs this well on 1st gen! Should run well on the 2nd gen I'm getting then. Gonna go see if you have some other cool videos now :-)

  • @fricky172 oops, i accidentally might have flagged your comment...sorry! yes! my brother has a second gen ipod touch and x-plane runs extremely well on it...even better, i might add! the graphics seem to be better and its just a lot smoother all around. its a great sim (especially for such a small device) and they update regularly (sort of). i don't have any other videos up yet (i've been very busy with work). i do plan on make a few more of x-plane airliner. thanks again for commenting.

  • wow, sweet! I am impressed it runs this well on 1st gen! Should run well on the 2nd gen I'm getting then. Hope you make some more x-plane ipod touch videos. again good work

  • Which ipod touch is this? And great flying and video, thanks for sharing!

  • @fricky172 i was using the 1st gen. thank you very much for your nice comment!
