Back on 11 March 2007, I had the priviledge to get to sing this song Jambalaya on the Bayou at Leelanau Sands Casino Lelanau, MI. I had met her band before the show and did a small dempstion of it for them. I later told Brenda at the show, that I was 4'9" too and that I lights up, she said what I said I Lights Up. I let her see my Lightup shoes and I got to go up on stage with her. I was so excited. I've been invited up at Clay Walker show too. Best Wishes LittleCountryDJ
You've got to understand the circumstances. Brenda Lee was a STAR as an 11 year old back in the 50s, with the most incredible voice you'll ever hear from such a young kid. She got her break when a local DJ convinced Red Foley (country music star) to let her sing at one of his shows. Unrehearsed, she broke into Jambalaya and stole the show. Her EARLY recording of Jambalaya is one of the CLASSIC rendetions of the song. In this vid, she's just reliving past glories.
I have heard many many rendetions of this song over the years, there are only 2 that I have heard that I have enjoyed as much as the original, Brenda Lee and John Fogerty.
with this particular performance that she had done just was up to par of Brenda Lee, she just didn't seem to put the energy into it this particular time.
there is a video from 1965 of Brenda Lee doing this song, and she had the energy and the passion in it, that was not in this video, this one just didn't have the energy
Brenda Lee is so awesome! When she started singing, she didn't even get paid, now she has sold over 100 million records. I love her and what she has done for women in music. Great video!
Very nice. Youtube search for VIVA EL ROCK AND ROLL MANUEL VARGAS ("At the hop", made in Chile).
And DISCO 45 MANUEL VARGAS.
Thanks.
