  • US Military Perfection!

  • What if your son or daughter was missing in action....this is the tomb of the unknown soldier....people need to show more respect to our military

  • God bless our troops. All of you should have respect for our soldiers. They are sacrificing their lives and all they have so you can sit on the couch, watch tv, and be lazy all day long.... Have some respect...you should be thankful...

  • This is so cool!

  • At around 3:05, the soldier making the inspection seems to do something with the sight of the gun. Why exactly does he do that? Was it a small correction or something that is normally done?

  • @Seasnain Graet question! What he is doing is ensuring that the "Sight and windage" adjustments on the rifle are clean and working. The are used to change the rifles sight from close range to long range. Again, Great observation on your part!

  • bayonet that baby

  • boring

  • @vicious321 you know what those guys train so long just to switch guards. You need to show your respect to your country. did you know that they spend over 6 hours just to make sure that they are perfect. they cant have a single drop of alcohol or they cant even swear. and yet you have the nerve to call it boring. get a life idiot.

  • russian are much better

  • That was epic. I love this country.

  • @kingkewlkat Thanks to all the 20,000 or so Afghan "Freedom Fighters" for letting the US military, the best in the world, have target practice. And may another 20,000 go with them.

  • How can you dislike this

  • I LOVE that the woman in the wheelchair STANDS to show her respect. Sadly, many others in the crowd and in our nation do not know or care to show the respect that our soldiers, known and unknown, deserve.

  • @deerhunter7979 Not showing respect to the military when I was growing up, was not tolerated at all. You got slapped for it very abruptly.

  • @HKapollo I too remember getting slapped or worse by being disrespectful to those that deserved respect. Glad to know there are some of us around.

I take my hat off indoors too, Do you?

  • @deerhunter7979 No, I don't wear them at all, made keeping that rule easier and it was and still is always yes sir, no sir and yes ma'am, no ma'am. The looks I get from some people for saying that is a look of shock. I guess people just aren't use to it anymore.

  • @duncan7599 show your respect looser

  • How can there be three dislikes?

  • they look like robots...

  • Each solemn step of respect for every man that serve, fought or lost their life. One of the most moving moments in life... I cried with tears of respect and gratitude.

  • Proud to have served 20 years!!!

  • Twenty-one gun salute at 2:29

  • HOW can there be dislikes? They CAN'T be an American and dislike that. It is truly beautiful

  • Beautiful. Just beautiful.

  • I like how the uniform isn't as gaudy as the British royal guard at Bukingham palace.

  • the two dislikes....... need to be sucker punched!!

  • It was amazing for me when I was able to lay a wreath on the tomb.Very moving.

  • During the inspection, you can hear 21 guns.

RIP. You damn sure earned it.

  • @imperator332 That's a three gun salute given here. Which is the same for all veterans funerals.

  • I got the opportunity to watch The Changing of the Guard, and wow. it was amazing. thats all I have to say.

  • i hear 21 guns in the back ground RIP

  • @cwood4ever; One thing that is great about my Beloved Nation is the fact that citizens like you have the inherent right to utter any ridiculous statement that transits through your meager cranium. While watching Professional Soldiers of the highest grade, all you can offer is, in your humble opinion, their uniforms look like shit.

It would be my honor to meet you in public and reeducate you on honor and respect. Respect for dead soldiers known but to God.

  • @WorldTechToday It's not plastic. It's metal and it's the buttplate cover. It covers a small compartment in the butt of the rifle in which a cleaning kit can be stowed. The weapon is an M1 garand.

  • @cutdeamon Negative. It is an M-14.

  • @cutdeamon the weapon is an M14.

  • This should be the job of the USMC. The Army uniforms look like shit.

  • @cwood4ever you look like shit

  • @cwood4ever Actually, the old Army Green Class A uniform looks like crap, in 2008, the Army decided to go back to the Dress Blues as the Class A uniform with variations for junior, senior enlisted personnel Warrant and Commissioned Officers. Phase in to be completed no later than 2014. The Dress Blues you seen worn by the Old Guard at Arlington National Cemetery are along the style worn by Union Forces during the Civil War. Arlington became a cemetery in 1864.

  • @shadowwatcher42d The USMC dress blues are better period, best uniform in the US military.

  • Kudo's to the elderly lady in the background in the wheelchair, standing up for the duration at the guard's request.

  • @WorldTechToday If its like the m16...that is where the cleaning gear for the weapon is stowed.

  • I saw this yesterday for my school D.C. trip! It was so awesome! :D

  • Not sure who's who in this lineup. Some really no doubt unintelligence involved. Guess what, they may walk funny to you, but these guys can still strap on not much more than a box of matches, and go to war. Same with the Airshows with TBirds and Blue Angels, they can break formation and head for war if necessary before you can say we're under attack. As for what they are protecting, it's dignity, honor, and a lot of souls laid to rest. Symbolic, yes. Us, the Brits, the Ruskies. But able to fight

  • This brought chills to my soul. I am currently serving in afghanistan and within our first month we have already lost 3 soldiers in our battalion to an ied. Being at the ramp ceremony and watching 3 of ours and 1 more of another battalion who died ONE day before he was supposed to end his tour hurt me to the core. I held my salute for 5 mins, because I knew they weren't coming home. I respect the fallen and I respect my comrades. Cut the bullsh*t and SUPPORT UR TROOPS

  • Thanks to All those who laid their lives upon the Alter of Freedom. Thanks to the Family & Friends they left behind. Thanks to All that serve who have proudly served the U.S.A.

  • @timothytwin61

    well said

  • is nothing sacred anymore? bash the president, bash the government, but for goodness sake respect our honored dead. save your beaten dead horse geopolitical red vs. blue arguments for those idiotic alex jones "bush did 9/11" videos.

  • for all of you who are talking stupid about the changing of the guards F.U

  • From a British man who is joining the Royal Navy I would like to say how much I respect you America for this brings me pride even tho I'm not American. Thanks for being our brothers and sisters in the battlefield Long live our alliance.

  • I've never seen or heard of what happens if the gun fails inspection.

  • Fucking Brits!! Bunch of arrogant bastards! Last time I checked your inferior army can't finish anything you get involved in. From the revolutionary war to ww2. It is pretty easy to talk from behind a computer while pushing buttons. I tell you what, come push my buttons and see what happens! Double dare!!

  • will it blend?

  • This would be amazing to see in person!

  • OORAH.

  • Honor guard is the hardest to get it.

  • And anyone of them would tell you that. Lastly, if you do indeed find this boring please do not look it up, I find it very disrespectful to our fallen soldiers. This job is an honor, not a privilege.

  • I simply don't understand you people, the reason for the "caressing" of the rifle is a standard US ARMY 3rd Regiment rifle inspection. They practice for hours everyday to perfect to what you see here. The clicking of the heels are what as known as "cheaters", only Guards and Ceremonial Honor Units are allowed to have them. And lastly how is it you people that say your Guards are better can say that when obviously you have never talked to an American Guard, these fine soldiers are a brotherhood

  • looks like robots lol

  • "Here rests In Honored Glory an American Soldier known but to God"

  • What an honor

  • The U.S military badass ranking scale 1-5 1. being the best 5. being the worst

  • why do they click their heels?

  • that infant displays an obvious lack of patriotic love to its fatherland by crying in the middle of such an important and sacred ceremony. it should be killed with fire

  • If I was the guard, I would find it hard to describe to people what I do in the military.

  • why do I keep seeing disparaging comments about the British or Americans made by each other? we're virtually the same people!

  • @emobloodwolf oh and btw country shouldn't exist? Guessing by lack of intelligence you are british, do you remember world war ii. You're welcome in the European theater. Oh and you're welcome in the pacific. Where the marines single handedly took down the japs.

  • @emobloodwolf? Do you even know what freedom is? You are free to bash the US because freedom of speech and this is an AMERICAN website. The only reason why everyone hates is because we are superior to every other country out there. And it's great how assholes like yourself take time out of your day to look up an american video and talk shit on it.

  • to he|| with the army not being gay, with them checking a|| up on each other's junk and caressing their guns up and down for ten b|oody minutes and wa|king |ike they have something shoved up their asses

    they |ike it

  • For those that have never served, freedom has a taste that only the protected will ever know.

  • Well, I like my own country (Russia) change of the guard better, It looks more solemn and powerful and to the point. Yet, americans were making fun of russian"goose stepping". But to me here it looks like americns are walking on egg shells and what is the deal with the rifle jostling? I guess, we just have to learn to respect each other differences. In the end, it is not about the show but about resecting the fallen soldiers.

  • @esvetlov well said sir well said

  • What the devil is that guy doing to that rifle. Is he trying to make sweet love to it? If that's a rifle inspection, I'd dread to see that guy in combat. With all that messing around, it might be six months before he got a round off.

  • @BeeryUSA you are a nimrod you have no idea what your talking about you tool, its an honor to our soldiers what they are doing has nothing do to with what they would do in combat, ignorant people like you have no idea what it means to have honor and respect, so keep your mouth shut!!

  • @BeeryUSA ....are you seriously that fucking retarded? when's the last time you saw a rifle inspection like this in iraq, afghanistan, the fleet, or anywhere else other than Arlington, VA???

  • First off British dick on coming is two words in north america (I am Canadian so I know north american language) second last time I checked Canada saved your ass in ww1 and ww2 and the states helped saved it in ww2 third how is the British military in any way north American??????? Last time I checked you guys were not from our continent? Am I wrong ignorant Brit? You should keep your dam mouth our moooouth as you Brits stay SHUT I love my father nation but shut the fuck up when you talk about t

  • @L337karma Firstly, 'oncoming' is one word, even in North America. I hear even Canadians have dictionaries. Secondly, all I remember of the Canadian contribution in WW2 was that they got their arses handed to them at Dieppe. In WW1, more Englishmen died protecting your freedom than Canadians. The fact that you have some kind of chip on your shoulder about the English is pretty sad. Can you say 'inferiority complex'?

  • Sorry for "Raining on your Parade", but much though I agree with the real sentiments and purpose of the Memorial Tomb, I am not in the least bit impressed by the standard of Foot Drill of American servicemen. I spent 18 years with the British Army and 8 of those was as a Drill Instructor, so I think I know what I'm talking about. A lot of the "movements" are surplus to requirements, in particular the oncoming guard being inspected. What on earth are they going to do if a fault is found?

  • @CBTinstructor It's called Drill and CEREMONY you tool. Nobody cares that you are not impressed. This is honoring our dead. Yes it's gonna be fancy, and maybe it doesn't stand up to what you call Drill. Every body is different.

  • @CBTinstructor Well, that's not exactly the "standard" Foot Drill. Being a Drill Team Commander in JROTC and now ROTC for a total of about 6 years I shared the same opinion. What's normally done is much more concise, and the inspections are a little less... thorough. Personally I think the flamboyance is to appease the spectators more than anything else. Flashy and showy keeps the civilians shut up and respectful, in any case.

  • cool

  • Some would go"haha Toy soldiers, Gee why so serious?" Well just honoring how military soldiers suffered, or died in the horrors of War and combat; not serious Huh? Only the ignorant I guess just can't understand that, don't have a Clue.

  • this is beautiful

  • those who have not served, and those who's who have not seen the changing of the guard, have not witnees Gods love! Every time I saw the changing of the guard, and every time I've seen it on the Internet, i have been moved. Certainly, in person is much more moving and personal. I can't wait to go back to DC and see this in person again.

  • Why do they carry those Arms as opposed to the standard US issue M16?

  • @alex471996 There was consideration about in 2004 but they decided to keep the M14. Because an M16 cannot have that spitshine polish and when you see the video, the relief spins it around to inspect it. Same with the Old Guard's drill team. IT is impossible to spin the M16. The M16 was not made necessairly as a drill styled rifle.

  • Why do they carry those Arms as opposed to the standard US issue M16?

  • @ScientificalnessUSA no, soldiers do what there told. Officers and the commander in chief are the ones who need to answer for this illegal war were in.

  • Seeing this still gives me the chills. And you're right "Andrewames247"...no exceptions. I heard a story way back when, not sure if it was true, but the story is that a hurricane or some bad storm was coming through and the Guard was given permission to stand down....they refuse!!! What does that say about these young proud men??? Though I spent 20 years in the Navy...my hat is off to these fine Army men!!!

  • @kittymom62 Plx see my note. You're correct- it was the last hurricane to go through D.C. I can't remember the name for the life of me. I do remember leaving my neighborhood ( 18th and Mass. Ave. NW ) the next morning and seeing huge trees down all over. Those guys had to have been pretty tough to have gone through all that. Very impressive.

  • @dsindc You're thinking of Hurricane Isabel. According to Snopes, if winds reached 120 mph, there was a plan in effect to go into the building and guard the tomb from there, but winds never reached that strength, and so they stayed out there.

  • Soldiers MUST answer for their crimes against the citizens of the nations that they illegally wage war in. Be it humbling and nice that we're able to fill our day with those things that we enjoy.

  • @SnakedoctorAlpha Not the 3rd Infantry Division, but the 3d Infantry Regiment. The 3d ID is a mechanized division based at Ft. Stewart, Georgia.

  • they spend more time changing the guard than they do guarding! :p

  • This makes me cry everytime I see it.....God bless our Military (Semper Fi - My grandfather was a sergeant in the Marines)

  • @drgdrf why the fuck would you even watch this video if you're just going to say that? These men protect our country and our freedom, you ungrateful mother fucker without a clue in the world. Show some goddamn respect. You better not be American. Even if you're not you don't need to comment some bullshit. I honestly hope you burn in hell

  • @Muhdiesel

first of a||, moo-wut-ever-the-b|oody-he||-ur-name-is, | shou|d guess ur age remains in the sing|e digits due to ur vu|gar |anguage. . .or | can just guess ur a typica| american, ne~ there is no such 'freedom' in america, it's a sorry excuse of a country that shou|dn't even exist. every person that | know says america is amazing, as typica| american brats, my age, high-schoo|ers, when every country hates it. a|right, |et me try to dumb it down to ur |Q: america is a stupid country=)

  • @EmoBloodWolf ..I cordially invite you to find a US Marine, get in his face and say that. You're obviously a puerile, pubescent little tweaker who has no manners. Now run along and tend your potato garden.

  • @SpeedyNeutrino43

    ok, first of a||, potatos are f***ing de|icious, ne~

a|so, there's no point to how this guard routine goes. they go back and forth stroking up each other's 'guns', checkin' der booties, and wa|king in a manner that says they c|ear|y just took it up the ass

  • @SpeedyNeutrino43

Haha, and yet when the Americans visit the old nations of the United Kingdom, France, Sweden, Germany, Spain, they take the mick out of their guards?

How does your comment justify the obnoxious American behaviour of glorious foreign guards?

Theses Marines are not gaurding anything of importance.

You go to France, UK, Sweden, Norway, they are protecting places, objects and people of high importance.

Think next time before typing useless points sir.

  • @melonhead82 Love how your argument is its always ONLY Americans.. and even if the said perpetrator was an American, how do you you draw that all Americans do this??? Thats like your telling me because someone in the U.S. doesnt like cheese, all americans dont like cheese

  • @Mcclaxman817

I never said all and I never said some, I said when Americans, because its difficult to pin point the exact type of americans that take the mick out of the old nations.

  • @melonhead82 If you have such a blinding hate for the U.S. why are you watching this video?

  • @Mcclaxman817

I never said I hated the US did I?

The geography of the US is stunning.

What I do not like about the nation is Americans who think every nation in the entire world is wrong but the USA.

And the reason I am watching this video is comparing different changing of guards for each nation.

  • @melonhead82 The only interesting changing of the guards are the US, Russian, and British ones. Maybe the North Korean one if you want to see something creepy.

  • @Medevila

The Norwegian Gaurds are quite good, so is Denmark.

I'll Check out the North Korean one.

  • @EmoBloodWolf I can't even form a sentence to properly express your ignorance. For you to attempt intelligent conversation is like a brick trying to be Jupiter. Deciphering your comment alone was about as unpleasant as watching nude old people swimming in Jell-O while discussing deviant sex.

There really isn't any reason for me to be offended by anything you say. You're just an insignificant pest that gets off on irritating others on the internet. I find your existence hilarious in itself.

  • @Nefiir

How dare you say that my girlfriend's existence is halarious. How can you judge someone when you have not looked at the argument.

You have not debated on an opinion, nor have you come up with a rational opinion backed up with evidence. I think you'll find that EmoBloodWolf's comment can be backed with alot of evidence.

Yopu are only generalising, and you are only attacking her.

Untill you can debate on the topic, I suggest you shut up.

  • @melonhead82

Like this: "Your girlfriend's existence is hilarious." Also, an OPINION doesn't need to be backed by evidence.

I would probably try to make some kind of rambling argument, but the sheer stupidity that I just read gave me a minor aneurysm that rendered me unable to care. Oh wait, maybe you can't read this. Let me try using your dumbass girlfriend's method of communication. !@$#$tt F%@Y^|||||yp327gf3fgcgfwgf. There. Loud and clear. I SUGGEST you learn to take what you dish out.

  • @Nefiir

Sorry, theres a sign which says "Please don't feed the Troll".

  • Its sobering watching this and at 2:30... You hear an honor guard giving a 3 shot volley. Meaning that a soldier was being laid to rest right then.

Regardless of your beliefs or affiliations you cant help but be moved at Arlington. When you see the endless rows of Soldiers graves you really begin to realize what people have sacrificed for my freedom and I will be forever grateful.

    Thank-You

  • @drgdrf As for you, I doubt that!! Their RITUAL for boys becoming men in those countries, is for them to BEHEAD! YOU SOUND LIKE U R ONE OF THEM!

Maybe YOU will get a VIRGIN in the hereafter? Ps Virgins: aren't what they're cracked up to be! Jokes on YOU!

  • Messieurs les Guards (US ), vous êtes superbes. Bonne présentation, belle cérémonie etc...

    Un ancien collègue français. (GR¨Cavalerie)

  • Yeah it's nice. But ya know folks, its not really all that special. This ritual takes place daily around the world in dozens of countries in dozens of ways. Yes these guys are good at it what they do, but when you only do one thing you're bound to become good at it. And before ya all start flappin' your gums, I spent 15 years in the infantry.

  • @MrComatost

    You're full of it.

The 3d is also a TOE Infantry unit. They do this AND all of the traiining required to remain proficient in their MOS.

So, when did you get chaptered?

  • Comment removed

  • @101327 The only mission these sentinels have is to guard the tomb, perform physical training and perform tomb guard training. They work 24 on, 24 off, 24 on 24 off, 24 on, 96 off. the time off is not all time off it takes approximately 8 hrs to get uniforms ready for the next shift.

  • @MrComatost Doesn't sound like you saw any combat! YES, IT IS SPECIAL to us who respect those who died!! FOR OUR FREEDOMS!!

I saw it when I was 11 years old AND in September when I went to the 912 Protest! I am now 60 and RESPECT our military. Unlike those who SPAT on our returning soldiers from the VIETNAM WAR. YOUR ATTITUDE SUCKS!!! PS I am a TEA PARTY PATRIOT! You my dear, don't SOUND like a patriot!

  • @cherokee7111 Dunno what happened to my first reply to you, but besides that, I'll pick on something else you said. You said I don't sound like a patriot. How is that someone's personal view of something detracts from their sense of patriotism? Does everyone have to agree on everything in the same way to be patriotic? Umm... that's not patriotism, that's dictatorship. But I guess it doesn't really matter since I'll save my patriotism for my own country, not yours.

  • @cherokee7111 So you deduced that I've seen no combat, eh? Does Bosnia, Somalia, and the Gulf count? Your amazing powers of deduction are fucked. My "attitude" is that of one who has spent 15 years in the infantry.

Yes it looks nice for the civvies; yes it means something important. But my original point, in case your rage blinded you, is that the same thing is done in almost every country that has ever gone to war.

And PS: I don't give a flyin fuck who or what you belong to or call yourself

  • @cherokee7111 Patriotism has nothing to do as your political group... no one cares if you are a Tea Bagger or not - neither do you love your Country any more than I do or anyone else who is not a big mouth bagger as you sir.

  • @cherokee7111 No one cares that you are a big mouth Teabagger. You, sir, are no more a patriot than me or anyone else that loves their Country. You political afiiation means nothing as far as love of Country/ Patriotism.

  • @njjeff201 you piece of shit, I'm a tea bagger, and I would gladly die for my country, I doubt you would

  • Comment removed

  • @cherokee7111 If its like the m16...that is where the cleaning gear for the weapon is stowed.

  • @cherokee7111 Just wondering, were you in the military by chance ? Coast Guard, marines, ARMY, ect...

  • @cherokee7111 wtf did this "MrComatost" say???

  • @wheeler1

    yeah what did he said?

  • When hurricane Isabell wa approacing, the Sente and House took 2 days off. the tomb guards were told they could take ime off becaue ofthe hurricane...they declined and said that this was the highest honor they could give to the Unknowns and thus a little thing like a hurricane wasn't going to stop them...they continued to guard the Tomb without letup. Kuddos to them.

  • listen at 2:29 that a 3 x 7 flury ,,,,21 gun salute......rest easy soldier.

  • wow what an amazing job, all of you do the fallen Soldier's Proud

  • fantastic

  • Good job sentential keep look over our fallen ones

  • outstanding job boys

  • I went to DC in July. Bc I had to march in a parade. It was hottt! And we seen the changing of the gaurds too! It was amazing:)

  • Amazing to see this in person and very touching. I was there in 2000 and I will never forget it.

The change is done every hour in the winter and every half an hour in the summer.

  • I saw this in person. Amazing. Just Amazing.

  • This is an incredible thing to see in person.

  • the changing of the guard is done at the top and bottom of every hour day and night, 7 days a week 365 days a year. Has been that way since the 1930's.

  • the sunglasses are because of the polished marble. the sun reflects off it like off a mirror so the glasses are to protect their eyes from sun damage. like wearing tinted goggles when skiing to avoid snow blindness.

  • yes this is done everyday an every hour

  • Why do they have shades on?

  • @Mmaesstrro

so you can't see their eyes. That way they can look around at things without breaking formation. They obviously don't wear them at night, but Arlington is also closed at night.

  • @rawdawg15 It seems to me that they are the only honorary guards who use them. Here in Moscow we have the Unknown Soldier Tomb as well. But guard there do not cover their eyes.

  • @Mmaesstrro You are alowed to wear sunglasses in the military as long as you are not in formation.

  • the yanks are just jealous that the europeans have such good history and traditions that the yanks wanted 2 do something like nat but they aint got a good enough history to be honest

  • How much honour and dignity can you give to a tomb of a unknown soldier. These where kids that had a whole life in front of them. They wanted to serve because they were our bravest and best. I hope we get it. I'm not even American but it doesn't matter. I'm a father with two boys serving in my country.

  • @FishyMcNuggets I hope you stay safe and defend your country well, and be the father that your boys will remember.

  • If u want the full expierence u just have 2 see it in person

  • They guard the Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, rain, shine, or in blizzards. I've seen this in person, and it's the most amazing experience ever.

  • They guard the Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, rain, shine, or in blizzards. I've seen this in person, and it's the most amazing experience ever.

  • Yes everyday 24/7!

  • This is done every day, 24 hours a day , 365 days a year. Even when Katerina was coming in and affecting this area they refused to stand down when told that they did not have to do duty during the hurricane winds that were being experienced.

  • @lubookworm The city was under a mandatory evacuation and the Old Guard refused to leave their post and continued to guard the tomb through the storm. I remember returning to D.C. after they said we could and an Army buddy of mine who was on the old guard at the time told me that they were TOLD to leave the city and still refused.

  • The march was kinda funny to me. No disrespect intended by the way, I have utmost respect for all our nations' soldiers. I also find Greek and German marches funny xD

  • I watched this in person 4 days ago, this takes a LOT of dedication....it was insane. Too bad I broke my foot about 800 feet from where the camera-operator is standing.

  • It's amazing how these men do this with such precise movements, in perfect sync with one another, and don't react to in any way to any distractions (baby crying, lightning, a mosquito on their neck, et cetera). God Bless These Men.
