  • I served in the brown navy, some know what that means......Civilian,or active duty, We all owe a moment of silence for those two {{{{AMERICAN HEROS}}}}. Please have respect where the words Hathcock, Burk, and tribute are in the same sentence........OORAHHHHHH...White feather.

  • god bless those two saints [iminent=3R5QzlR59l2]

  • What is this song?! It's driving me crazy: I love it so much.

  • Amazingly even with the m14, Winchester , m40,ect some snipers in the Vietnam War were using the good Springfield M1908 with its companion the unertl scope.

  • We would not have snipers in our era if not for the “The Nam “ because in almost all the US major conflicts sniper schools and programs essentially got disbanded but after the Vietnam war they finally realised the snipers true potential and now every branch of the army is fielding sniper units. It also started the spike of rifles specifically built for the purpose of sniping.

  • @sniper6thsense YEAH I AGREE--AND CARLOS HATHCOCK II WAS THE BEST AMERICAN EXAMPLE OF WHAT A WELL TRAINED SNIPER COULD DO!

  • First off I wish to thank you for not disgracing this tribute to the white feather by adding a horrid song like Bodies.

  • R.I.P. "White Feather" Oorah!!

  • i got the gt Hathcock on xbox :D

  • My friend thinks that he is him/thinks he is goin to be him I'm like get a life noting good about killing people but do what ever to survive...

  • @THEK3ITH360 ur a ass

  • @ItalianBro21 ye get a life

  • The Army used the modified accurized M14 with the Arc II scope and named it the M-21, however it was not uncommon to see a Marine with one. We took what ever worked. We even used the AK-47 if we got one and enough ammo for it. The Army is always better equipt than the Marines, because the Marines are a smaller outfit. I was one of thousands of Marines who wrote to Washington to get Carlos the Medal of Honor, but they gave him the silver star instead. Better than nothing. He died of MS.

  • Best there was!

  • The greatest sniper who ever lived. I first learned who carlos hathcock was in the movie Sniper. which was a good movie. however after i read the book 93 confirmed kills. I realized how off the movie was. his real life story is by far more exciting. if the movie would of been more true to his life it would of been a super movie. You just cant make that stuff up that he did. even beyond the shots that he made. was the dedication he had. and my hat goes of to him for that. Thank you Gunny!!!

  • great guy

  • Hathcock used a bolt action Winchester Model 70 primarily in his first tour. It was chambered for the .30-06 round. What you show is a M-21 system which is a modified M-14 for sniper use. This system was used by army not marine snipers. During his second tour the main rifle was the Remington Model 700 in 7.62X51 or .308 Win. The military designation for this rifle system was the M40. He also used the M2 .50 caliber machine gun for long range sniping during his time in Vietnam.

  • Inspired me to buy a Winchester Model 70 .30-06 and get a J Unertl scope for it, then bought an M14 with iron sights.

  • CARLOS PASSED AWAY 12 YEARS AGO LAST WED. 2-23-11--R.I.P. SIR OLE BUBBA STILL HERE FIGHTING FOR YOUR MEMORY SIR!!! AMEN!! YOU WERE THE BEST!!

  • This music is a real downer man.... sorry...

  • ARVN

  • Hathcock used a Winchester Model 70 chambered in .30-06.

  • what the sniper carried in 66 was what he could get at the px, hence, the name of veitnam hunting club, founded by mr. lands

  • 168 grain hollow point boatails 308 cal were our fav, nato rounds, hard to match in combat, look up your shooting charts.

  • Carlos Hathcock Is More Noted For Carring A Winchester Model 70 Bolt Action Rifle Even Though His Mountain Stand Off He Used A M2 Brownining .50BMG!

  • @philipstout93

Philip when he returned in 1967 i think for 2'd tour, did they not use the replacement Winchester 700?...I am a big fan of the Model 70.

  • I dont read much but I got my hands on 93 confirmed kills for 17 bucks at a bookstore yesterday. Favorite part was when he got a remington 12 gauge shotgun for 12 th bday and tried to go hunting with it but he couldnt catch anything so he goes home and busts out his J.C. Higgins .22 and he comes back home with 2 squirrels and a rabbit. LOL Hathcock is the best sniper in history. Semper Fi Gunny

  • greatest marine sniper ever Carlos hathcock R.I.P and god bless all who serve SEMPER FI and oohrah THE FEW THE PROUD THE MARINES

  • I espically like this video since this is a tribute to my cousin...I got to speak to carlos a couple months before he passed and to hear him tell stories from NAM made you truley feel like you were there with him, crawling across that field...RIP cousin...

  • Zenitram94 Carlos N Hathcock was a Gunnery Sergeant, with an E-7 pay grade. He was not a Sergeant Major, which has a pay grade of E-9

  • God bless Carlos Hathcock and John Burke may they RIP.

  • i have a friend related to Carlos Hathcock

  • song?

  • This is a nice tirbute, but Carlos used a Winchester Model 70 30-06 , with an 8x power unertl scope. I can not find any reference of Winchester Model 738 either for the military or civilian use.

  • music didn't fit it...

  • the m14 is 7.62x51nato, .308civi not .30-06

  • @redmule02 thanks for the correction

  • no redmule, the 7.62 x 51 - 308 winchester is a totaly different round from the 30 06, the 06 was used in WWI and WWII and the 308 is basically a shortened 06 used since Viet Nam until that was superceded by the 5.56 Nato - .223 Remington currently in use

  • @redmule02 no redmule, the 7.62 x 51 - 308 winchester is a totaly different round from the 30 06, the 06 was used in WWI and WWII and the 308 is basically a shortened 06 used since Viet Nam until that was superceded by the 5.56 Nato - .223 Remington currently in use. In fact th 06 is still the calibre used in the 30 cal machine gun

  • great vid but there's a few army pic's in there and the rifle around 3:07 thats an m14

  • gata love snipers. can i get a whoa!

  • Carlos Hathcock had 93 confirmed kills but had more then 200 unconfirmed kills making him the most famous sniper in Marine Corps history but RIP Carlos H you will be missed Semper Fi and Oohrah

  • @karpackney ya and a good bunch of those kills where high value targets like a enemy general and top commie snipers.

  • Semper Fi He was a great american and a damn fine marine i love both of his books

  • Hathcock you are my hero rip gunny. Semper fi

  • Great Men the both of them.

  • "There is no hunting like the hunting of man. And for those who have hunted armed men long enough and liked it, never care for anything else thereafter."

  • It's not THAT he killed it's that he saved many lives and it's not the NUMBER of kills it's the way he carried out those missions. Read (or listen to) a book! Marine Sniper is a great read and audiobook.

  • @R00K72 ive read it twice and loved every page

  • I AGREE WITH THAT ROOK72--YOUR RIGHT.

  • Hathcock was a fine marine and a Christian as well. he was a fine example in my book!!!

  • @m16a1rifle CARLOS NORMAN HATHCOCK DIED THIS DAY 11 YEARS AGO---MY RESPECTS TO THE FAMILY AND FRIENDS OF THIS AMERICAN HERO AND TREASURE---RIP SIR,YOU WILL ALWAYS BE MY HERO AND MENTOR--YOU WERE THE BEST--KING OF SNIPERS.YOUR FRIEND ALWAYS BUBBALEE 2

  • a ledgend amongst ledgends-R.I.P Carlos N Hathcock II

  • @Redwards111 Gunnery Sgt. Carlos Norman Hathcock------Arkansas bred and born-----Made in the USA-------USMC trained------American hero and Legend----RIP GUNNY

  • Two of a few good men.

  • one shot. one kill. one dead 20 saved Semper Fi

    -Sgt. Hailens-

  • @ask11cats...... I would assume you have a none military background. Killing ONLY 93 would have saved MANY allied lives. Snipers deserve their tributes as do all our servicemen.

  • Saving that many more innocent lives is.

  • Yeah ask11cats? I'd like to see you TRY to live up to his reputation

  • Carlos never hurt anybody as a civilian, only as a military member.

  • @ask11cats they had the same chance to kill him if he didn't you would be speaking Chinese or Vietnamese or Russian OORAH

  • @ask11cats Carlos had 93 confirmed kills and they think as many as 400 unconfirmed. Carlos stated, :that he never enjoyed killing anyone, but it was his job and he was going to do it to the best of his ability." And that he did.

  • @ask11cats If you researched it, you would know that he was not proud of it. He did not like killing, he did it because it was his job, and those he killed were trying to kill him and other Marines.

  • @ask11cats For your country it is

  • @ask11cats fuck off you peice of shit

  • @ask11cats killing 93 humans who would have other wise killed you first seems like somthin to be pretty proud and grateful for.

    fuckin tree huggin hippies

  • i was lucky enough to meet carlos a few months before he died he was a super nice guy

  • great rifleman. cheers

  • he was a great marine, great video, cpl BAXTER STATON, USMC I SERVED IN VIETNAM IN THE REACTIONARY PLT AT CHULAI, MAG13

  • A man who lived the Rifleman's Creed.

  • Hate to say good bye to these great men. We should also try to focus not only on the 93 confirmed and some say over 400 unconfirmed kills he made but the far more numerous lives he saved. I fear we will never see men of this caliber again. There isnt room it seems for these men and others like the great Elmer Keith in this modern world. Its a shame.

  • i still wear a feather in my camo cover when ever we go outside the wire.

  • Carlos Hathcock also used a 50 caliber machine gun with a scope which is what he used to get his 2,500 yard kill. If only those burns all over his body didnt ruin his career as a sniper im sure he would have had much more than 93 confirmed and couple hundred likely kills.great video.

  • thanks im sure he would have kept on impacting the vietnam war immensly also

  • @pete7770 I think i remember reading in the book he did most likely have over a hundred, but only 93 were confirmed. but still, his success was not measured in how many kills he had, it was how he got them and the people he saved by doing so.

  • beware of them good ole country "hicks"

  • I read the book 93 confirmed kills... twice. The man is a Legend. sad about John R. Burke. great vid, great pics!

I couldn't have done what they had too.

  • thats so dumb that they wouldnt release it on itunes or something. oh well i guess i'll just try to find it on audioswap

  • Yeah I agree. Its an awesome song.

  • how did u get this song and this guy is a true hero i wish i could meet him Semper Fi

  • Yeah he was awesome. The song was on youtube audioswap

  • carlos has been an insperation

  • Nice Vid mate !!!

  • Thanks!

  • Sad that he didn't live that long. :(

  • cant find this song annnywhere or the lyrics.

  • yeah its a great song but i believe it is only available on youtube audioswap and i think it said it is unreleased.

  • read hathcocks biography. it is a very good book

  • amen to that.

  • he will be remembered rest it peace carlos

  • i deply respetc gunny hatcock R.I.P.

  • Marines is oorah

  • what song is that?

  • End of the World by Mike Schmidt

  • the movie sniper were were gunnery sert shot the enemy sniper through the scoope that was base on what carlos did to a NVA sniper that was hunting him for days

  • @riain01 the famous scope shot has been used in allot of hllywood movies but hathcock did it first

  • I Served in the Marines with hathcock as a fellow sniper and Friend along side burke and he Ran those gooks off When he Lost his life Protecting are platoon. Im Omahages dad.

  • Some of the statements in this video are not true. John Burke did not die saving a platoon of marines. He died from a vietcong attack on hill 950 on June 6,1967. He died within the first few minuets of the battle. I know that this is true because my father was an m60 machine gunner on that hill of that faithful night when Himself and 5 other marines were the only ones that survived out of the 18 that were stationed there.

  • Well if you were smart, you would know that he died there saving his fellow marines and holding off the vietcong.

  • Yo guys cool it. I receieved this information from interviews with Carlos Hathcock and from his Navy Cross Citation. If you look it explains in detail. I appreciate your fathers service.

  • The VC attacked John Burke's hill, Marines we're wounded from RPG's. He went out and dragged them to saftey, he was hit by multiple pieces of shrapnel. After getting Marines to safety the Sappers got through, Burke grabbed a M16 and hung a dozen grenades on his belt. He charged the enemy shooting with one hand and throwing grenades with the other, in the fury of his attack the VC fled, and never seen him fall. - that's why he was given the Navy Cross.

  • That would be correct.

  • @Duce0311 so sad.. his son was a pilot and was kia i think in the gulf war

  • @FluffyAnger571 Carlos N. Hathcock III, his only son was a Marine Sniper and is retired and living to this day.

  • long live Carlos and John, true heros.

  • R.I.P. Carlos and John

  • I read his book too this was a true war hero ,like his nick name as you see now if I could just shoot as good but thats not gone a happen.

  • ARKANSAS'S ONE MAN ATTACK!!!

  • HE WAS THE MAN!

  • whats this song called?

  • End of the World by Mike Schmidt. I don't think it is released outside of youtubes audio swap. I didn't personally know Burke and Hathcock, but I have heard and read a lot about them.

  • . . he's amazing, top man . .

  • i read his book this guy is amazing

  • so did i thats how i first learened about him. and forget what the mythbusters say about shooting through an enemy scope. he did it. right there in vietnam.

  • you have my deepest respects....

  • may you rest in peace, welcome home and thank you, R. COTTEN E-4 USMC 1967-1971

  • Cpl Burke accompained Sgt Hathcock into the Elephant Valey, in The Republic That Once Was Vietnam. The minced up a company of NVA. Cpl Burke, 1/9 was later KIA. He recievd the Navy Cross/

  • Yeah, Burke was quite the guy wasn't he? RIP Burke.

  • u knew burke and hathcock? if u did i would enjoy talking to u somtime

  • Carlos Hathcocks sniping days ended when he had MS he tried to snipe and kept fainting and bleeding yet that didnt stop him, in the end he was releived from actie duty and felt abandoned untill the sniper scohol you know today was in his name.

  • in the description u have "Gunnery Sergeant (Sergeant Major)"

if your doing a marine to army rank conversion its gunnery sergeant (Sergeant First Class)..

    im sorry, i have OCD.

    OORAH GySGT Hathcock II.. R.I.P.

    -SSGT Reynolds, USMC Drill instructor

  • Thanks for your input, I should have been clearer. He was gunnery sergeant when he retired, but during his sniping days (1967-1969) he was a sergeant major. Thank you for noticing. Many wouldn't have thought of that. Semper Fi!!!

  • 1st things 1st R.I.P. Gunny hathcock he was never a SgtMaj. at any point being an 8541 i'm pretty sure I've read everything on the man and also I got to meet gunny Hathcock when i was a young Marine but thanks for thinking of the Gunny and keeping him alive in memory

  • Thanks for catching that mistake. I think I meant to put Staff Sergeant, I'm not sure. Thanks again.

  • Who knows the name of this song, its not linkin park. someone help me out!

  • End Of the World by Mike Schmid

  • hatchock used a model 70 winchester .30-06, burke had an m14 (.308) so they didnt both use the same gun 3:06

  • That is correct; however, both were trained snipers and they switched off periodically between the winchester and M14. Thank you for catching that mistake.

  • Well done.

This just shows how smart you are.

  • Good Tribute, RIP from Sweden.

  • yeah and RIP from Scotland too. Great tribute by the way. Love the song, inspired choice.

  • RIP Carlos Hathcock from England

  • He was from the U.S.A.

  • i know u OAF i was saying FROM England.

  • "OAF"?

You said "Carlos Hathcock from England".

Don't you think that that could have been misinterperted?

  • only by an OAF OAF

  • Ouch.

    Grow-up.

  • oh i spose ur gonna make me seeing as ur "APARENTLY" a powerful country.

  • Learn how to spell "apparently" before ridiculing someone else.

Where are you quoting "aparently" from, anyway?

  • my house

  • That makes no sense.

  • usa is the most powerful country in the world then comes russia etc.

  • so they think, China is the second biggest super power with its growing economy, USA have power in numbers everyone else has power in inteligence so u suck realy..

  • How did he die?

  • From complications received in Vietnam and Multiple Sclerosis (MS). He was on top of a vehicle in 1969 when it ran over a charge. He threw everyone off before escaping himself. He was a hero.

  • He was a Marines Marine. Not too many stories has touched me as much as his. It was required reading in the Corps. I wish I was half the Jarhead he was. Uhh Rah Devil Dog.

  • I Think He Liked sniping but He Didnt Like Killing the Innocent of the Children.

  • There's nothing innocent about a child in war. 12 or 21 they fire bullets the same way, they shoot to kill, kill his brothers. He didn't like killing children but they were far from innocent.

  • i don't think he ever "liked" it (sniper's creed). He got rid of a guy that he was training because the guy wanted to "practice" on the peasants. Also, it really disturbed him, that he had a to kill a 10yr. old boy who had intended to harm some soldiers.

  • I never meant that he liked it. I already knew that he disliked killing people.

  • OOHRAH
