  • i have no pirate but when i create sybth lead and press record it wont record anything even if i press run on repeat i hear nothing.... i checked routing all audio outputs are in correct places but no sound from thor why??

  • немного примитивные звуки, Омнисфера лучше намного

  • I am trying to convince myself to download Reason and give it a try but i just don't see the point when you already have a DAW (nuendo), many great synth( Papen, Nexus, Fabfilter Twin and the cool Synplant) and many great effect plug in. You can Rewire this to Nuendo but what is the point ?

  • i h8 people using the premade patches ;(

  • @Woodworth19 dont we all....dont we all. although some are good, but if u want a specific sound its best to just make it urself

  • @Woodworth19 Then how do you make your own patches?

  • @princeaizen Bit of a silly question don't you think? If i have a sound in mind, i can make it by altering the ocs, filters, etc.

  • can someone plz tell me where i can how i can save my presets in the folder of the plug-in that im using? or in the right place i just dont know where i have to save them so i can load them up later

  • can you generate these kinds of sounds on ableton live? thats all i need to know..

need a daw that has audio recording AND sound creation like this

  • something called ReWire. Search about it

  • A VST synth by NI called Absynth is a very powerful Synth. To me, very similar sonic potential to Thor... but a bit harder to use. Having said that, it's not cheap and might be worth getting Reason instead and Rewiring it into Ableton like others have said

(I Rewire into Sonar - it's very similar to inserting a VST. Once you've set up the Rewire in Ableton, you launch Reason and use it like a synth rack :)

  • ableton daw sounds like a daw. reason sounds more like hardware.

  • the sequencer on this software is the worst iv ever had to deal with in my life

  • Use it as a sound creation tool and run it into a host DAW like Logic or Pro Tools...

  • Yeh its more of a synth tool with potential drum machine then a real DAW

  • I think that's where people start to look down on Reason... Without being able record direct audio, or even make great use of audio files, you're really limited to what sounds you take the time to create....

But most of these whiny kids just put 5 minutes into it, give up, and bitch about it online when professional musicians are making hits with it with no problems....

  • No posting about PIRATED versions. This software neither has a 'CRACK' for it. So use your good sense and buy it.

  • i did :)

  • every presets sounds like shit

  • @thiagotecnico

Good call the lads who made it have a mortuage to pay and a family to feed just buy it

  • I AM THOR!!!!!!

    Always cracks me up...

  • i, i,i i, i, i, i, i, i

  • I use fl8 and reason 4.0.And together you got u some powerful shit!!.

  • what do you think is easyer' to use.

for someone just getting into beat making.

  • rishard i think that u should start with fl8 ...considering reason needs midi imput to run...well effectivly

  • I personally couldn't get my head 'round FL 8... I had no idea where to go or what to do to get the desired effects. I'm having a ball with Reason 4 though. I would advise you to just try out different DAW's and see what suits you best.

  • there is one that very easy to use and it's NEITHER vsti nor Reason, it's Acid Pro

  • yeah ive been looking into that one too.

i already got reason 4 and i like it. but i still dont no how to do sertain things.

  • I personally use Ableton Live, i think it's a great VST host. The effects Live comes with are alright, but that's not why I use Live. What's special about live is the smooth interface.

It's a great program to throw VSTs into, if you wanna make music like this video, try Sylenth1 synthesizer and a nice drum vst.

(I've been programming music for a long time in Reason and Live and I still don't get the FL studio interface. x_x I guess to each his own)

Just get a DAW that is comfy for YOU!

  • any1 know how to download reason4? or a cheap price?

  • Comment removed

  • You use studio monitor's to browse the interwebs? haha

  • It should sound good no matter what you listen to it on.

  • you scared the crap outta me !!

  • hmm, not bad... from what ive seen from ver 4 so far, its not that much better than ver 3, the sounds are pretty much the same quality arent they?

  • ppl nowdays using fl studio more than reason cuz its easier to use but i think reason sounds are way better

  • they are similar. but in fl studio you can work with wav recording. 'reason' you can't, but it's 200% easier to work.

  • A great combination (to enhance the "wave" possibilites of Reason) is to use it together with Sony Acid :-)

  • You can work with waves in reason...get recycle

  • sod recycle just put them straight though the nn-xt, use a wave editor 1st obviously ;)

  • Comparing Reason to FL Studio is like comparing a Ford Escort to BMW 7 series. Fruity Loops is a kids program. It may be easier but riding a bike with training wheels is easier than riding a Harley too.

  • hahahahahahaha

  • but at the same time u cant say that. different strokes for diferent folks. u cant really compare except on the basis of sound quality such as sample rate and what not and audio quality which depends on the pc mostly. but anyone who just uses factory sounds only in fl studio sucks. soulja boy does

  • it sounds disgusting..very harsh and digital

  • hey can i get the download link??

  • what are you trying to download?

  • lol pirater. it's about 2GB. buy this soft instead. :/

  • lol thats funny but its worth buying if your into music. ITs the shit

  • wats bittorent

  • use google u fuckin pratt

  • use fuckin u google pratt

  • so is reason 4 just like fruity loops or eJay but you plug your own keyboard in? can you put your loops together and record it in Reason? and make drums without a keyboard?

  • u can write an entire music only with your mouse. the keyboard only fasten your work. u can make drums on the track or inside the 'Redrum' rack (w/loops).

  • would you reccomend getting a high end synth/ keyboard to create better sounds and import them into the program or can you make good sounds with the program?

  • Reason is FOR making sounds. A keyboard doesn't make any, it just tells reason what notes to play. Software like this is are professional grade musicians tools.

  • I am a R4 user and Im gonna make a techno song =)

  • Reason is amazing, God really does exist and Thor sucks you off each night with incredible sounds. Am I going nuts? Yes I think I am....Ive just had another great day of producing nothing staring at a computer scream....sorry I mean screen. I find softsynths so dull these days....they come with so many presets that cover most of the sounds you'd want to make....and there is little motivation to explore the sound engine. I FIND IT ALL REALLY BORING.

  • Ever since I sold my Jupiter 8 and Prophet 5 and moved to VA (Virus, Nord) I have totally become depressed and demotivated/uninspired by the fucking amazingly shit sounds VA's produce. Honestly, I have never been happy with digital synths doing analog emulations. I find music making software a total chore to use and boring. In fact, I just find the whole industry appalling and depressing. Cant really make a living out of it now....just play with your mouse and softsynth and wank it

  • what a prick reason aint shit, look how cheap and diverse it is the only thing thats shit is you, if you are getting reason for the presets your a twat, make your own if your a sound engineer or producer, i use tons of software and 4 what you get for your money this and Reaktor are difinatly da best, make your own sounds with all the synths, you aint got an excuse for makin shit music, the thor is a powerful software tool especially for reason, stop bein closed minded and learn how to make sound

  • Koksukay...

Are you obsessed with reason 4?

this is about the fifth video i have seen a number of comments from you saying the same thing, people get your point!

If you believe thor is rubbish then drop it, or do you enjoy arguing the toss?

  • well said Philwornum...I think KOKSUKAY has exhausted his argument....he should go away and come back once he has played with his 3000 presets. XD

  • I hear you!

I've seen ur other comments on "the power of thor" type things, and frankly, i'm concerned.

Reason is NOT the best, i admit, even though i still like reason. The problem is that, reason is LOADED it has EVERYTHING it needs to kick ass.Thor is all you need, but people are running out of imagination.

Thor's powers are LIMITLESS! forget thor, take the subtractor for example, with that synth, you can produce any, and every kind of sound, but no one tries anymore.music is now commercial.

  • hmm ye spose so, never thort about recording with anything other than cubase, but like i said my comp cant handle it. mite aswell try live, i got it but never reli used it in the end!

  • idiot, what would be the point of using vsts in reason anyway when theres over a 1000 patches and presets in the synths that come with the program! I can't be bothered to use something like cubase anyway, simply for the reason the computer im using at the mo cant handle the program!

And i didnt pay for it anyway, so what is there to complain about anyway!

I don't kno what the sequencer WAS like, but i know that its damn good now!

Anyway, at least its a damn sight better than FL lol!

  • reason 5,so i heard on the grape vine,is gonna come with a new unit to push reason to the extreme.a unit props r calling 'the fornicator'

  • ye they better make it possible to record audio in Reason 5, in fact i don't see why they didnt implement audio recording in Reason 4, sure theyve put new stuff like the Thor in, so why not include things like the ability to record audio? just doesnt make sense :S

  • I have Reason 4.0, it is wicked, producing some bad boy house tracks at the mo! but "iseeyou275" im afraid you're completely wrong lol, it does not have "endless capabilities"! do you know why? you cant record into it! lol. if i could record into reason, i would never need Cubase.

  • this is actually THE ONLY thing you cant do in reason: to record sound in it... but I am sure they'll fix it in the next updates. And btw: Reason is exactly like a music studio! It is really endless,

  • you can record audio into reason....just rewire it to go hand in hand with what other programme you are running....its sooo..easy....me and my music buddies lay down live guitar or piano into ableton running alongside reason altho i prefer to sequence with reason...it feels easier.

  • if u dont have reason 4 u suck

    ENDLESS CAPABILITIES !!! LITERALLY

ITS REALLY LIKE THE PUSHER ON YA CORNER... YEA !!

    THAT GUY THAT HAS EVERYTHING

ALL U GOTTA DO IS ASK EM ....

    YEA

    THATS WHAT REASONS IS !!!

    REAL SHIT

  • all the presets are crap in this synth, no doubt it has capabilities worth checking out but the standard patches, terrible.

  • Reason 4 is quality. Full stop.

    Well done once again Propellerhead.

  • Thor is really amazing...

I have tried FL, Reason, Live, etc.

Reason is the best. People usually say it is too limitated in its capabilities, but I believe it the opposite...

  • each program does each work

  • Can you tell me what is each program's work? Maybe I'm misusing them...

  • Live and FL are intended to be hosts or digital audio workstations, used to handle VSTs.....REASON could be beautifully used via REWIRE from any host.....and then the magic starts

  • i've been using it for 2 years and trust me it is very limited

  • compared to FL Studio, Thor is almost the equivalent of Simsynth, Wasp, and Sytrus put together. Of course, there's less learning curve if your used to FL Studio, like me, to use either of the FL synths instead.

  • Thor synth is awesome. I have been using Reason before some of you even know it existed. From version 1.0 and now I have version 3. Should soon upgrade to 4!

  • Can someone help me out? Im using reason 4. And i remember in reason 3 using the nn19 and importing WAV files into reason. I cant get it to work in Reason 4. When i use the nn19 and choose the wav file to open. it doesnt open...instead its like the pre set organ sound or something.

  • When creating the NN-19, right click and choose "Initialize patch" first. Then do it as you always do. Had a problem with this at first as well :)

  • ive been purchasing reason since its been out. i support propellerheads.

  • yea, they deserves it. Good bugsfree reason 4.0.1

  • All you need is a good controller like the Akai MPK49 controller and you don't have to use the mouse to tweak.

  • Its not very good at all. Synths such as massive blow this away.

  • This is a great example showing why hardware synths are so much better than soft synths.....

  • why?

  • If you have never played a real hardware synth, I know why you are asking this question...

1...listen and watch the video again....do you like that accesibility???

having to drag a mouse around a screen with your right hand to change presets or tweak a sound.....using 2 or 3 fingers on a weak left hand to explore the merits of a timbre???

time well wasted......unless you have a good controll surface that works with it.....

2... The audio sounds shoddy.... a good representation.....

  • or take the well rounded approach and be fluent in making sounds from scratch in addition to personalizing well known sounds.

  • anyone want Reason 4 for free hit ME up.. j/k you fking bootlegers :P

  • Next time keep in mind the volume! its cracking like crazy! I have the volum on the video low and still bothers.

  • recording software fault

  • lol

  • I love "i am thor" preset

  • the sound on 01:00 is crazy

  • i am thor lolz

  • like kraftwerk lol

  • turn down the output so it doesn't peak dood.

  • yeah, this video is shit, the sound is terrible. but in this video i'm using the first beta version of reason 4, now everyone has a pirate and full one.

  • I have a question. I'm a newbie so please go easy on me. How do you place the Thor note sequence in the bottom of the programmer in Thor to a track below without using the matrix, ect? I made a sequence, but can't seem to get it down to the tracks below. I'm sure it's something easy I'm overlooking. Thanks for the help!

  • all u have to do is click record.

    have fun! :)

  • I figured it all out. I was trying to use it like redrum. Thor is incredible!

  • thiagotecnico doesn't really know what the deal is as well as you cats who say reason can't do dance synths. i have got some basses in my rig that you would swear come from Concord Dawn's own setup... all with reason. so stop whining and learn to use your gear. make some mistakes, do your homework and you'll come out on top.

alot of your favorite producers use reason along with other great ruckus.

  • I find it's often the people who are not deeply into patch making that complain about the Reason synths. What a load of nonsense.

  • The i am thor thing is impressive, you didn't experiment with it!! You can make him say I in one key, AM in a complete other key and THOR in another key, instead of him sounding monotone.

  • Getting my Reason 4 Tomorrow's Pay Check.! FUCK CANT WAIT TO MIX THOSE NEW THOR SOUNDS!

  • Well, If you think about it, if u were gp (general population)and not a musician or producer you would turn on your radio and think, "Hey! this is good music!!". Not, "Hey! ...This sounds like a song made with some program called reason."....Just a thought. =D

  • I finally got my Reason 4 and holy f-in shit I thought it would be cool but once you start messin with things you get some ideas man it's incredible. What this video is showing you is jackshit compared to when you actually do it yourself. It really blew me away man I still have chills. If I didn't have to sleep I'd be on it all night and day.

  • Do a super saw with Thor, I still think Reason is only good for FX, never heard any massive Tranc leads comin gout of it tbh.

  • yeah ive noticed that

its great for some things but it can never really emulate a sound coming out of something like ATB or dirt devils or sumthing

its a real shame, if they had an amazing device that could recreate stuff that sounds immense out of dance tracks then itd be such a perfect program

  • I use Reason only to compose a, then i translate my own substractor presets on my Virus :) It's easier when you know what kind of sound you are looking for.

  • reason for some reason :S allways has that hint of presentation music (like that one you get on your demo cd with gaming mags).....well unless you use samples, but the synths just sound to samey the oscs are maybe a little to clean and lacking any style or character(imperfections). Nice toy though and routing is very fun indeed

  • Thor is got to be the best softsynth ever made, fucking genius.

  • sounds better then reason 3 i guess, but still has that reason sound if you know what i mean

  • If you use the default stuff then yea I guess it would have its ( reason sound? ) But that's why you gotta tweak em or buy new sounds ( which is what ur suppose to do lol )

  • so you dont know what i am talking about? reason sound? dont you think it is a unique sound? even if you tweak it.. or am i totally wrong? jackass

  • lol with the name calling. No you retard, would you know that Timbaland uses Reason? Or the Neptunes? Or alot of other well known hit producers. It's in the sounds you use and how you work them. Do your homework lol

  • no matter how far you try to go with the subtractor will always sound like a subtractor.. of course if you then use another program to equalize it... it will sound different but that wont be the sound that comes out of it.. you're just being stupid my 1st comment wasnt a negative comment, i love reason and ive been using it for years i was just pointing out that i was expecting more from the new one and it still has that sound and i bet other people agree with me

  • saying jackass is kinda hard to know if you're kiddin or not, but if u were then my appology.

You were saying " Reason " not the individual pieces ( like the subtractor sounds like its own thing )

You see where the confusion began?

lol anyway...enjoy the soft. Mine should be arriving UPS tomorrow woot!

  • The subtractor can be programmed to produce plenty of realistic analogue imperfections

  • Or you could spend some time studying and experimenting to come up with your own sounds. Does anybody do that anymore?

  • Even though there are an infinite amount of sounds, it is kind of hard trying not to reproduce sounds that have already been used. We all have an idea of what sounds good.

  • my point exactly dude.. Tweak em.. goddamn it tweak em.

  • versatility, low cpu and memory usage. Thor really is GREAT :)

  • Lame... I guess it's ok for Reason users. My Kurzweil Keyboard has way better sounds and kicks the piss out of that lame plug.

  • You suck,lol...and there's no way your piece of shit could sound better!,lol. Well, a lot of things is involved in getting a good sound out of any piece of shit anyways!! and i think he has a better setup because the sound is the best i've heard here on the tube.

  • Sounds like you don't know fuck all about recording. You really think that some cheap ass plug can compete with a $3000 keyboard? Go back to school fucking noob.

  • 3000$ ? Tell me... What is your keyboard worth when it comes to Trance music? lol:)

your keyboard is surely not as versatile as Thor...

seems like you don't know fuck all about Reason. And another question I'm asking myself, do you know anything about synthesis for comparing your keyboard with Thor ???

    nothing much to say

  • Well I have a virus ti and for the money its the best piece of gear you can buy for trance. I also own reason 4 I like both, reason is very easy to get your ideas down fast while the sounds I can make on the virus are just amazing.

  • yeah virus ti is a sure bet for trance :)

  • if is k2600 you are absolutely right

  • yes it is.:)

  • why would u even compare the two. Money doesnt grow on trees. A Kurzweil is far beyond some of our dreams. I would expect it to sound good.

  • liked the way you played each patch in their respective styles/contexts.
