  • Great video! Take a look at my newest video post for a couple of tips on doing this with a dryer. Might help you out a bit next time... mainly heating the metal piece to loosen and blowing from the side. Hope to see more from you.

  • thank you for claifying!

  • Why bother to depot the crayon? How/what do you use it for now?

  • I thought we mentioned it in the video but it basically makes it like a paint pot so that you can apply it with a brush and don' t have to waist product sharpening, not to mention its hard to find good sharpener for such a large pencil. Its also personal preference.

  • Hey did you guys try de-poting a lip pencil?

Blow dryer is my method of choice also!

    Knytecraller

  • A lip pencil, damn! How did you do that if it was one that needed sharpening? Did you have to cut one tip off?

  • the nyx jumbo lip pencils....i haven't tried it yet, i'm gonna though after work today. on the nyx jumbo e/s pencils, i do it with a blow dryer, I burned my hand with the microwave..ouch!!

  • Ok I misunderstood. I believe the NYX Jumbo Lip Pencil would be the same ad the Jumbo Crayon, I thought you meant a regular sized kip pencil. Yea, if you watch the attached video/Part 2 you can see the microwave method didn't work for us either. I think the dryer is safer.

  • i saw a video where a girl just took the lil cap off and then put it 10 seconds on the microwave i think is less messy or not messy at all try it..;)

  • If you watch part 2 you will see that did NOT work for us, but I do know which vid you are talking about. The microwave method was messier for us :(

  • LMFAO glad you didn't have as many casualties as me. My problem was keeping the dryer on HIGH because I am so impatient.

  • I think I"m gonna try my mini dryer next time. I'm impatient too sometimes but the splatter scared me. I think it could stain if it got on fabric.

  • eww it looked gross coming out, but im thinking about depotting my nyx pencils

  • Totally gross, like a colored crayon turd (sorry if that was too gross)! Try it out, it really doesn't take that long. I think it will get me to use mine more since I will be able to see the colors better in my pain pot/base drawer.

  • i never really thought about depotting the pencils before. But now i think i will. Thanks for the info! =)

  • We hadn't either till we came across some other videos and decided to try it ourselves. I think it will make me use mine more since I prefer to apply bases with a brush. Try it out :)

  • this was useful and entertaining XD But it looked funny afterit wasin the pot, like its consistency..but thats cuz of itscolor and Im just weird lol...but your nails looked great too! I love that purple color! ^_^

  • It does look a little different but the color is the same, at least so far. Since I only use them as bases so I don't think it will make a big difference for me.

The polish is Lila by Savina - thanks! :)

  • ya I only use em as a base to so I guess it wont matter haha just looked funny XDD hehe...Your welcoem! Its such a gorgeous purple! XD

  • I'm very visual too so I know what you mean. As with everything else it's just personal preference really. Just like paint pots vs paints ya know?

The purple is fun, perfect for Spring :)

  • yaa exactly. True, well its a great tip for those who want paint pots but can't afford em right now! Especially since sharpening them uses up most of the crayon anyways =/...It is! XD

  • You guys are a hoot!. Too funny, I love it. Great video

    Marlene

  • Thank you!

  • I've been "potting" my NYX pencils for just over a year, and I love them!! It's like having home made paint pots!! I can't wait to see the microwave method!! I've always done it using a hair dryer. After you've done one, maybe two, you totally get the hang of it and you won't make any mess at all! Love it!

    )O(

  • I figure it will get better with practice at least now I know what to NOT do LOL. :)

  • They don't sell NYX over here in Germany but I managed to get hold on of the jumbo pencil in "Milk". But why would one want to depot it as I thought the pencil would come in pretty handy?

  • Its personal preference really. Its hard to find a good sharpener that is large enough plus I feel that you lose some with each sharpening. I like having more control over the consistency and I feel that I use too much with the pencil it its original form. If you like using the pencil in its original form then definitely stick with that. :)

  • I see. I think I just haven't used my jumbo pencil long enough to find out if the pencil itself works ok for me or if I might prefer a pot and creme concistency. I am sorry for my English, by the way, which is far from perfect as this is not my mother tongue.

  • Try it for a while and see. If you like paint pots then you might like the potted pencil better.

Your English is great, much better than if I tried to speak German ;).

  • Great experiment ladies! x

  • Glad you liked it! :)

  • I'm totally going to order some little jars to try that. I have a bunch of bennye jumbo pencils that are already loose (the creme stick falls out of the pencil) that I should do that with! Plus I have a bunch of pencils that would be great to use as paint pots.

I'd have totally broken my nails off with the wrench lol. Good job.

  • If they are already loose that will make it easier, you can just cut them into pieces and then melt them. You've broken nails off while using a wrench? OUCH! I work with a lot of crazy tools when I work on the car with hubby so I'm pretty used to them even though it looks awkward when I grab stuff because of my nails ;).

The jar that I used are from Michael's and are just paint jars like the kind you use to put regular artist paints in and they are super cheap.

  • So with this method.. are they going to dry out??? or will they still be creamy.. I'd like to do this i think.. it looks alot easier to use.. will you let me know? thanks

    Linzi

  • This is the first time I've done it so I'm not sure but I can't imagine it will. Just keep it in an air tight container. Definitely easier to use since you use less and can get the exact consistency that you want.

  • ya i did this too. and i had mess either ..you can use high and all u need to do is point the hair dryer more towards you so theres no flying crayonn

  • Towards you meaning not directly on the top of the pencil?

  • meaning half of the nozzle of teh dryer is over the crayon..does that make sense>

  • Totally makes sense, I will try that next time. Thanks for the tips! :)

  • did it affect the colour at all?

    xxxJoolsxxx

  • Nope

  • Last week i pott a NYX pencil , but i use the stove!!!!!!!!`

  • Wow how did you do that? I'd love to see a video on that or hear how you did it. I'm all for trying different methods.

  • OMG! I loved watching that...I am SO jealous that you have someone to be in your videos with you!

Now I have a strange urge to depot my NYX jumbo pencils since I have so many of them!

  • We have a blast doing these. =)

You could totally do it, just get some 3 or 5 gram jars. I think it makes it WAY easier to use. Like mini paint pots.

  • This is even more hilarious now that I'm watching it. ROFL! Too many good parts!

  • I laughed so much during editing. Definitely a fun experiment though!

  • I did this with my 3 NYX Jumbo Pencils. I used the blow dryer method and it was super simple. I used the MAC sample jars and they fit perfectly. So much better than pencil form. I held the blow dryer on the side of the pencil, so no splatter.

LOL @ the huge vice grips. You 2 are so funny together.

  • On the side of the pencil instead if directly on top? Did you point it at the bottom or just the side in general so eating the "case" part?

Yea the vice grips were pretty big for the little pencil LOL it was all we could find.

  • I put the blow dryer on the side of the pencil and stuck the pencil down in the pot just like you did.
