lol ok i was just a baby so i cant remember well but my dad once told me that during the game italy vs argentina which took place in naples most neapolitans supported argentina cuz of maradona lol
Here in Argentina having an Italian Surname is common. Maybe around 55% have Italian Ancestor. 40% are Italian Citizens. Messi, Cambiasso, Zanetti, Burdisso, Lavezzi, Angeleri, Papa, Milito, etc. are all Italian surnames.
This game was so signifigant to Italy and Argentina ,beyond the realms of football. Both nations are very close because of the deep seeded Italian anchestory in Argentina . My relatives who are Italian and live Argentina , were very emotional about this game . I hope to see Italy play in Argentina again , it's very important for these games to happen reguardless of the result.
First of all the booing their own cousins statement makes no sense at all to the topic . Secondly you may know this how many Argentin's/Italians are there in the country of Argentina? . Millions upon millions . All I'm saying is that there are were a lot of Italians who had mixed emotions some were going for the Argies and some were going for Italy . Either way it was a very proud and emotional moment . Don't read into it.
only italy boo other nations antheme, like they did in 90 final to argentina. argentina would never do something like that, though italy would deserve it
But i don't think Argentina and Italy are enemies in football, and they play similar. Argentina's biggest enemy is England and now also German cheating cunts i think.
The Italy Argentina animosity really started in 1990 World Cup and revolved around one D. A. Maradona. In Milan they booed Argentine anthem because North Italy resented Napoli's success with Maradona and Maradona brought this out before Italy-Argentina Semi-final in Napoli where support for Italy was so so because there favorite son played for Argentina.
Yes, I agree! This is what I was trying to point out.The booing of anthem in Milan was first game Argentina Camerun I think because Naples club had success with Maradona during that period in a league usually dominated by Northern clubs, Milan, inter, Juve. The Milanese resented this and took it out on booing the home nation of Maradona. My hunch is that they were booing Maradona not Argentina, but this triggered problems that followed. No question classless on part of Milanese fans.
That is another issue. Personally I don't care about atheletes lifestyle as long as they produce on the field. the authorities can deal with any felons among them.
Caio, siamo essere fede verso tutti i due paese. Sono mezzo scozzeze e mezzo italiano e ero nato in zimbabwe ma Italia e ancoro mio 'mother country' insiemre con scozia. We are american-italians or brazilian italians or argentinian italians etc. Pace!
Aemilia, tu hai ragione, but I meant there are many descendents of Italian settlers in Argentina and the italian genes continue even if intermarriage with other does happen often. Capisce?
This is an Italian team to be proud of.The Argentinian tem is pretty much Italian as well as Italians in that country are numerous and invented the tango there.
AmeiliaPaulla you are very wrong. Germania 582.111 Argentina 527.570 Svizzera 500.565 Francia 348.722 Belgio 235.673 Brasile 229.746 Stati Uniti 200.534 Regno Unito 170.927 Canada 131.775 Australia 120.239
Though the descendents of Italians all over the world still eat gnocchi and listen to canzone italiane, the majority of them NON PARLANO L'ITALIANO e non hanno nemmeno un contatto con la realtà italiana.
Gordon, Fernet is a bitter beverage made with different herbs. It's sth different, it doesnt resemble another beverage ... I'll tell you the way we drink it in argentina: First put ice, then 1/4 of Fernet and 3/4 of Coke. Hope u try it :)
Thanks Martin! I like trying new alcoholic drinks and this one sounds interesting. I should visit Argentina as it looks like a great land and I am huge fan of Jorge Luis Borges!
Fernet is similar to Jaegermeister, a mix of liquor and herbs. You suppose to drink it pure after a big meal or as an aperitif.
The mixing it with Coke is just a recent publicity stunt to get more people (specially the young, since this is a more traditional drink) to drink it.
I never drink Jagermeister with Red Bull, etc, only on its own and I'd do the same with Fernet. I almost bought some the other day but settled for Cinzano and Frangelico!
so we don't eat gnocchi? okay, then why the hell we have an expression -slang- that is ñoqui ( gnocchi). Ñoqui is a despective term for politicians or public men who do nothing in their charges and live from public finances
Italiani!!! Millions of italians emmigrated to Argentina. The Italian National Anthem was not disrepected in Argentina ´78. Why did Italy insulted Argentina´s National Anthem in Rome ´90?
No no, nada contra los argentinos que son hermanos. La verdad es que Maradona hablo mal de los italianos y pregunto a los napoletanos di apoyar el su equipo ante Italia.
@moskerus Because before the world cup, Maradona tried to make a divide between Italians of North and South and single Napolitano against Italians. The insults were for Maradona...not Argentina.

Why, so they can boo their own cousins in person? Italy has been trying to distance itself from the mess known as Argentina for quite a long time.

Something to add on this statistic is that these are actual ITALIAN CITIZENS.
If you want to go with Descendants that's a whole different story.
1) Brasile-25,000,000
2)Argentina-20,000,000
3)Stati Uniti-17,000,000
