  • just listen...and enjoy, a true ensemble album thats so seminal for me. Great times, great memories

  • beautiful, original and beyond the reality of musicians worldwide...to evoke emotion... is it not the whole point?

  • Deary me, whats all the bickering between Bowie and Ferry. Both are good in their own right and they are both way better than the crap that's out today! Don't think Bowie got influenced by Ferry but if you watch early Roxy Music they were quite wacko! Anyway, as for this song,it's a class tune and one of the best by Japan. Great tune and sang with emotion.

  • @zendoking Very true mate..But some assholes are full of shit..

  • @zendoking You are not reading correctly what I wrote. I was never in Jolly Ole England. Perhaps you're going to the wrong clubs? Watch Bowie's videos 'Let's Dance' and 'China Girl'. Bowie 1982= Ferry 1978. I don't care how Bryan Ferry is perceived by you today. It's what he established, it appears before your time. I'm not saying Ferry influenced Bowie as a whole, just for a short period. Remember Bowie's a chameleon. By the way your mother has good taste. You're mother should know.

  • @zendoking It was Bryan Ferry who laid the foundation for the New Romantics. By the late 70's early 80's with songs like 'Dance Away' 'My Only Love' 'On the Radio' and most of the album 'Avalon' the influence was in full stride. He impressed not only art rockers of the late 70's but the Romantics who surfaced in the early 80's. Any influence by Bowie was influenced by Ferry not only in song but style as well.Watch the 'Let's Dance' video. That's a Bryan Ferry copy and that's a fact.

    !!!

  • incredible

  • Japan influenced all New Romantics bands. They were the first, and the best! This song makes me feel good, and then bad! Dark song, but so beautiful!

  • @yoshibax Bryan Ferry, was the first and the biggest influence on "The New Romantics" He started it long before this band.. In 1975 with "Siren"...

  • wow wot a tune...takes me back.. greatest tune by japan esp the 12 inch version.. as this is..lol

  • wow wot a tune...takes me back.. greatest tune by japan esp the 12 inch version

  • I am truly blessed to have seen Japan three times live in concert

  • 4:50 - 6:04 something beautiful

  • Hauntingly beautiful and conjurs up such wonderful memories for me.

  • Like a silken thread, this song has been woven through 30 years of my life. As with other Japan & Sylvian songs, I have no doubt it will continue to do so ...

  • I adore this song so much - the haunting beauty, the melancholy....The whole album is a masterwork that deserves a new generation of listeners.

  • @deepdroner Absolutely - I'm sure it will linger on. Let's hope it never slips away.

  • Satie's gymnopedie influence...

  • great song but also prefered the live version - found this a bit sparse and tinny

  • Love this track. This and Ghost I could listen to over and over again. Haunting in feel and very original.

  • Great song. Japan would have become much more popular had it not been for their "artistic" image.

  • @Teletubbie257 Maybe that's why they've become so iconic instead. I do really prefer that way, though I understand your point

  • classical-like,lullaby-like, "after hours" melancholy piece...perfect

  • Had this in my favourites before but the video was removed. Such a mind blowing track on a different level to most other stuff from the early 80's.

  • Such a beautiful song. You can hear Japan's influence in so many of the 80's bands. Just listen to the solo work of David Sylvian and you can see Japan was his brain child. Thank you for sharing this. I had to go buy the CD as soon as I heard it again.
