Yeah it's not bad this, nearly as good as some of the stuff you get on the Xfactor eh? let's see what simon and amanda bloody holden think of it shall we?...How far has the British music industry fallen (sighs) I despair
At the tender age of 14 I was really into the Damned but this particular track blows me away every time I hear it. Pink Floyd, Radiohead nah The Damned, If anyone needs to know how great The Damned were, just listen to this track, unreal.
Classic f'kin album. whole band raised the bar as far as 'punk' was concened -always up there in quality and f'kin bottle, along with the Stranglers and the Clash. Best of British. Long live the suede head.
@energysea1 i stopped playing in a band a few years back, then saw the damned supporting motorhead, bumped into our old drummer, got together again and ended up doing one more gig, at a festival supporting the damned! I can bury my guitar now, nothing will top that!!!
One night in 1989 at the fashion institute of technology in New York City I played this song for a girl. I dimmed the lights, lit a candle and drank from some red wine. Dave Vanian did the rest with this masterpiece. When it was done she smiled because she said the music plays in in her head. 15 years later we had our daughter, Zoe. Life changes, all the time, too fast , but music like this captures the moments forever.
this track, vanians vampire like image, the album cover, spawned goth, it started here. i was a punk at 14 but 17 when this album was released . saw it happen, enter the goth bands! the ex punks needed somewhere to go, the ones that thought exploited, discharge etc were after the fact
they can't get radio play cos of the name The Damned bible bashers jam the radios switch boards its happened with key 103 its blashphemous of god lol so what everyone swears, its ridulolous i know ive spelt it wrong hahahahahahahaha but like others have said the damned are a underated band and still goin strong
the sex pistols had the word sex init but they have radio play so do frankie with relax that has sex init but they play it
@julieanddavid agreed in fact the only song they ever played on radio was eloise or on a very rare occasion smash it up,i mean very rare occasion.your talking haleys comet coming around rare! the sex pistols become a branded name from a underground source where they patented them commercially ie everyshop in carnaby street had the sex pistols t shirt personally i think it screwed there image cos they didn't want that retail stuff but its all money in the end.
@julieanddavid Rat Scabies says they were harassed by a bible bashing nut in America on the plane. They were touring in '83. The guy very wisely did a runner when the plane landed. Scabies would've hammered the moron lol!
@zara2255 Strange? the damned are the most underated music of there genre they did what the beatles didn't do they covered 3 decades of the most diverse music they even had a punk single first way before the sex pistols..goth rock indies punk you name it they have done it! they never got the fame because they weren't a ready name brand artificially created by the music industry. thanks for comment!

The best thing they ever did in my humble opinion.
Sheer theatre, Dave Vanian's voice excels.

@gentle7ways7 Bravo! Well said! I'm often amazed at how many people know nothing of this epic band. WHY wouldn't "Alone again, or" get airplay?
