I bought an iPhone 3G when it came out and still using it today and will be buying Apples next iPhone just because I have bought shit load of apps. But if Palm had come out with a better phone design(it have to be better than pre3,coz they all look round and girly) I would immediately get a one. Web OS is a delight to use and I haven't seen a better OS anywhere. Only WP7 is able to stay toe to toe with it interms of looks. HP!!!!!!! come out witha kick ass design and I'm in.

the pre is really neat. Though, Apple wins on implementation, iPhone has only be eclipsed by phones like pre and android in term of functionality, but iPhone still provides the smoothest user experience and slickest UI. Apparently, that's what ultimately counts, not to mention iPhone ecosystem massively dwarfs that of Android, not to mention Palm Pre. All that being said, I still think Palm Pre should have been much more successful that it is, I hope Lenovo or HTC could acquire it

Push Notifications work well now. But I wish the iPhone did multitasking like the Pre. The only apps that can run in the background on the iPhone are the Phone and iPod apps, and, to a minor extent, Safari and Mail. You can get push email on the iPhone from more than MobileMe; Exchange & Yahoo Mail do it. And you can get push Gmail with GPush (it's about a buck in the app store) I'm fond of my iPod Touch, but I do like what I see with the Pre. Palm has done a great job creating an amazing OS.

Does anyone know if the Pre has a virtual keyboard at all? I personally never really minded (and really kind of liked) the virtual keyboard on my touch, but I like actual physical keys as well. But the reason I ask is it seems like it might be just an ever so slight annoyance to have to slide the phone up every time you want to type.
No it doesn't, but that doesn't mean it can't add one in a future update. I have one and it does get annoying when you want to search something in the Browser and you're viewing in landscape.
You dont have to keep tweed running on the pre to get notifications.
even if you close tweed the app pushes notifications to your phone.. you can see it in the button of your phone as a little bird to let you know you got a new message.
make sure you turn on that feature first.
this is why the Pre is light years ahead of the iphone.. its sad people dont give it a chance.

The Pre will notify you when you get an email or a text WITHOUT running any apps -- even when the phone is asleep! The notices show you who sent it and preview the content. You can then dismiss it or go to the email/message with one touch. It's the best!

Alot of people are misleading the Push Notifications on iphone 3.0. APPS WILL NOT RUN IN THE BACKROUND. And the app itself cannot send a message. Push Notifcations come from a server. for example, when you recieve an IM, a server must send the ipod touch/iphone a command which launches the notifcation.
i switched my iphone 3g to palm pre to save money on monthly bill. at the end of the day, iphone 3g is still a better phone. u just can't beat the apps and the speed of the iphone 3g compare to palm pre.

I laugh when I hear people using apps as a knock against the pre. 1st off I don't need a beer chugging app or light saber app. 2nd apples apps store has 9 different netflix apps, 10 twitter apps, lite versions of various games so its not like it has 50000 different apps. 3rd pre is about to release there sdk and it will start to get more apps. The pre's app-store will never be as big as the iphone's appstore. And that's because the hype just wasn't as big as the iPhone's, when you talk to someone about the iPhone they exactly know what phone you're talking about, but when you talk about the pre most people are like: "dude, what's the pre?." Hell, when the iPhone was released even the dutch news was talking about it. The platform itself is bigger as of now and webOS will probably get more phones but the userbase won't be as big.
Well web os is much easier to develop for. HTML, CSS and Javascript is much easier than C, Cocoa and all that. Think about how many websites are in html and them. No one makes websites in C. So if you can make a website you can make apps on the pre
I have to say I'm a huge fan of Palm since the Palm3. When I first saw the Pre I was pissed b/c the Lifedrive/Palm T|X had so much potential to become the iphone before the iphone, if that makes since. Palm totally dropped the bomb twice now, they had the original netbook and didn't release it and the original "iphone" device, and didn't release it. It's good to see they will stay in business, the new OS, is fantastic. And when PalmOS compatibility comes, It will have way more apps than iphone.
As a former and always to be At&t user, my mind automatically is for the iPhone. That is just my simple opinion, but I like the Apple OS and feel that it is easier to use, along with a more comfortable feel in your hand.

The Pre will notify you when you get an email or a text WITHOUT running any apps -- even when the phone is asleep! The notices show you who sent it and preview the content. You can then dismiss it or go to the email/message with one touch. It's the best!

hes comparing the two phones that are out right now. i'm sure they'll compare the pre to the 3gs come friday.
the pre is a better phone now than the iphone was 10 through its released. the pre has a ton more potential than the iphone, but even as it is now.. the pre is at the very least on par with the iphone.
both are good phones.. its just nice to have two options now

Alot of people are misleading the Push Notifications on iphone 3.0. APPS WILL NOT RUN IN THE BACKROUND. And the app itself cannot send a message. Push Notifcations come from a server. for example, when you recieve an IM, a server must send the ipod touch/iphone a command which launches the notifcation.

i switched my iphone 3g to palm pre to save money on monthly bill. at the end of the day, iphone 3g is still a better phone. u just can't beat the apps and the speed of the iphone 3g compare to palm pre.

There was a rumor going around that Microsoft was only going to allow 2,3,4 windows open at a time in the basic version of Windows 7.

I laugh when I hear people using apps as a knock against the pre. 1st off I don't need a beer chugging app or light saber app. 2nd apples apps store has 9 different netflix apps, 10 twitter apps, lite versions of various games so its not like it has 50000 different apps. 3rd pre is about to release there sdk and it will start to get more apps. If you've forgotten the iphone didn't always have an apps store.

like i said the iphone is really based on apps and not much else. Basic features are just being added to the iphone in it's 3rd gen phone...it took up til its 3rd gen phone to have all these things. Im sorry but ive used an iphone and im not impressed to say the least sir.........just one mans opinions.....Apps dont make the phone....the phone makes the phone.

but they Implement all the features as perfectly as they can
For eg-: copy and paste you can actually copy a clip of HTML web page with images and paste it in your email etc not to mention the ease of use { the pre still cant copy and paste properly BTW}
and with Video recording they even added video trimming

Also multi-tasking reduces battery life ,slows performance
imagine running a intensive game like need for speed
along with Pandora and Im app , the battery will probably die in 30 mins

Oh, and one of them is a "Classic" app, which allows you to run all the old Palm OS apps on the Pre. No, it's no app store, but the catalogue is growing pretty fast. :)

The pre's app-store will never be as big as the iphone's appstore. And that's because the hype just wasn't as big as the iPhone's, when you talk to someone about the iPhone they exactly know what phone you're talking about, but when you talk about the pre most people are like: "dude, what's the pre?." Hell, when the iPhone was released even the dutch news was talking about it. The platform itself is bigger as of now and webOS will probably get more phones but the userbase won't be as big.

Well web os is much easier to develop for. HTML, CSS and Javascript is much easier than C, Cocoa and all that. Think about how many websites are in html and them. No one makes websites in C. So if you can make a website you can make apps on the pre

No it sucks, since it doesnt use a SIM card like at&t and t-mobile, it can only be used for sprint, and it cant be unlocked

I have to say I'm a huge fan of Palm since the Palm3. When I first saw the Pre I was pissed b/c the Lifedrive/Palm T|X had so much potential to become the iphone before the iphone, if that makes since. Palm totally dropped the bomb twice now, they had the original netbook and didn't release it and the original "iphone" device, and didn't release it. It's good to see they will stay in business, the new OS, is fantastic. And when PalmOS compatibility comes, It will have way more apps than iphone.

As a former and always to be At&t user, my mind automatically is for the iPhone. That is just my simple opinion, but I like the Apple OS and feel that it is easier to use, along with a more comfortable feel in your hand.
