In Australia they milked the line 'i'm a kid, that's my job' for a baked bean commercial for along time, god that pissed me of when ads rip off a great movie
These close-ups show what a young face John Candy had. I think they dyed his hair brown and receded his hairline a bit to make him look older (I think he was supposed to be the older brother)…but he still looked younger than he was. Which makes his early passing even more depressing. To me, at least.
@wjwolf I know your comment is from 2 months ago ,but whats your point? He made Richie Rich after he met M.J & it was a pretty successful film, Michael has nothing to do with him fading away, he zoomed out on his own
My Uncle & I use to act out this scene every Christmas, he was the 'black sheep' of the family too, drinked alot & always had a new bitch on his arm everytime he visited. Than we ran away together, it was a beautiful time but he soon got fed up with me and ran off with some Bitch he met in a Strip Club. I now sell used tricycles. I miss the good times.
@wjwolf I know your comment is from 2 months ago ,but whats your point? He made Richie Rich after he met M.J & it was a pretty successful film, Michael has nothing to do with him fading away, he zoomed out on his own.
@meds613 But still…when I was a teacher I encountered many young children who were not able to read that fast. Technically, it's 4th grade level, but reality looks different.
@ReaperDCK I loved this film and Cool runnings when I was growing up, and it's stupid but I literally only just found out he died about two years after I was born, after randomly searching for him on wikipedia. Feels kinda sad, I just thought he'd retired from acting or something.
@ReaperDCK I guess it's also kinda sad because they just don't make movies like this anymore...I loved growing up at a time when Disney was at its best and movies like this were still fairly new, I watch my younger brother watching the stuff on TV today and I just think "urgh" lol
@ReaperDCK He also had an inherited heart condition. Several males in his family died before they were 50. His father died aged 35, one of his grandfathers aged 42. This year, his brother Jim died, too.
@Missrainbowmuffin yeah i think its drugs the most even if they didnt mean to do it and died by accident. like john belushi, he was a great actor but died from drugs so long ago. i know that alot of fav celebs have commited suicide but its generally other ways not with guns. as for food yeah thats another. generations of good celebs are gone due to something bad :(
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH! I love Mack. Not only is he a cutie pie in this film, he still is. I love Mack. I wish he was in more films but I know he is under HUGE pressure, even though he is no longer a child. 30 YEARS OLD! Crazy how time goes by! I'm 13 but admire Macauley as much as anyone. Mack is truly an amazing person, down to earth, respectful, and has his privacy. I am proud of him for keeping a good head on his shoulders through all of these years! I love you Mack!
My favorite part is later on when Buck goes outside in his robe brings in a cat and yells, "Who let the cat out?" and Miles answers "We don't have a cat!"
Too bad we don't see much of Macaulay these days.I think he's one of the most talented actors ever! I mean lets be real how many people can act like this as kid...Adore him!!! Can't imagine Christmas without 'Home alone' 1 and 2 ღ♥ღ
@TheNona2403 It's what happens when you let the industry transform you from a human being into a product. There are so many examples (M. Jackson, Lohan, Cyrus, Todd Bridges). As a parent it pisses me off when they lose the perspective that these are still kids and the arts should be fun and not a profession at those ages. I sure hope he makes a comeback as a successful actor and keep creating his art.
this is one of my favorite scenes in cinema history. John Candy has been and will be making people laugh for a very long, long time after his body has expired.
