Not exactly, but similar to French braiding. With French braids, you add the hair to the outside pieces as you bring them to the middle. With cornrows, you add to the middle section only, not the outsides.

@roxeyroz21 Think crab. Your index, middle finger, and your thumb are your working tools. Hold them up and look at them. Looks like a crab right? The problem area is the pull through. Hair is held between the index and middle finger, however when a piece of hair added, follow through like you were a conducting an orchestra to keep the hair neat. It took me a while too, but when I kept this in mind, it was easier with practice! Hope this helps :p

I have seen some excellent braiding tutorials but, this one is the best. You told me something RIGHT FROM THE START OF YOUR VIDEO that I didn't know even though I have been trying to learn to cornrow for about 4 days now. You said it was a BASIC BRAID. Cornrows make you loose hair? I dont know if its only a "feeling" or im really losing hair, but im worried about the loss of hair thing and if it could happen to me if i keep wearing cornrows. You think it could happen? @shortydoall okay i did read that braiding your hair could poss. break ure hair due to constant pulling. also goes for ponytails. if you wear u're hairstyle the same way on a daily basis like the ponytail it could break ure hair off if you dont watch the way pull u're hair.  its very important to change hair styles. bt good news couple ppl have said give u're hair room to breath U MUST!.. wear elastic bands for ure ponytail very healthy cuz it doesnt tighten ure hair. braid hair every cpl weeks
