That story is incredible! Are you sure it was Yaz? Did you check out some photos after the incident?
I am perhaps the biggest Yaz fan ever. I was THE ONLY PERSON to run across the field at Fenway when he got his 3000th hit in '79, after idolizing him since childhood. (What can I say, I was an obsessed college kid). I jumped off the Yanks' dugout roof, got tackled on the field and escaped. Fans pulled me in. Still looking for a video of this, which is how i found yours! Thanks for a great story!
@bpfinn1 Thats cool. I was there too. Its the only time i have ever been to Fenway. I was 15 at the time. Man it was the best day ever. A little after 9:30pm i witnessed history.
Too flippin' cool my friend!!!! Carl was my hero whenI was a kid. I played for the red sox in school little league and I just wanted to be like him. He was one of the best ever. He had one of the most vicious swings Ive ever seen and was an amazing left fielder. He won the golden glove award several times I believe. Congrats on getting to meet him. Have a great day and GOD bless.
I call bullshit.

Me too. 1
Yaz is a reserved, very cool, old school kind of guy who wouldn't act like this especially in public around strangers. This story doesn't ring true.
