  • @uarujoey thanks man

  • What if I don't want to use bio balls. Would biomax do the same ???

  • @Cr1sth1an108 You can use Bio-balls if you want. I use them in a lot of filters. The scrubbies are simply a fraction of the cost and do the same thing. Bio-max is too dense, and would cause the water to start channeling in the filter eventually.

  • @uarajoey what kind of water pump to you recommend ? thanks im not sure exactly what to get

  • Will the beneficial bacteria simply grow on the filter media on its own? Or is there some starter kit to help it along?

  • @burntouch The bacteria will start to grow on its on in an aquarium with ammonia present.

  • how do you make it so the water goes from the tank into the filter?

  • @HerperJake an overflow. I have videos on a few types.

  • 6:08-24 LOL

  • @sexy52637 hahahaha... i get it... Not what i meant.

  • @uarujoey hahaha

  • I fucking love you

  • @sexy52637 hahaha!! But we never met!

  • hey how would that work for my 55 gallon tank i have a couple vids up i dont want to drill my tank or anything so im wondering how i would do it.

  • cool like it

  • what size tank could this filter i have a 125 coming and i need a filter for it would this work?

  • hey man, my local fish store sells a 10 gallon sump with bioballs for $250, would that be able to filter a 100gallon tank with clown loaches and 3 bala shark? Nice channel btw!!!

  • Your better off using a 20 gallon tank next to the main tank on a custom stand at tank level rather than putt this thing on top of your tank. Condensation will screw your lights and look pretty ugly plus you would have to worry about over flow as water naturally finds its own level

  • @astchiefy You could do that as well. My plan here was to keep the filter as cost effective as possible. Not suppose to be pretty. If its on top of your tank, its not going to hurt your lights unless the filter is in a canopy. Even then, with proper ventilation its not an issue. I have run this filter both ways, with no issues.

  • To MANY holes! NOT to much holes.

  • @Threlaeburgh Thank you for the grammar correction. I'm sure it was a slip of tongue on my part.

  • @Threlaeburgh Too, not to.

  • @elowell85 thank you ;)

  • Can this idea be used on saltwater? I watched this video and went and got all the supplies to make it. Then I rewatched it and some how I missed the part where you said for freshwater.

  • @TheDammad3 On a fish only system, yes.

  • I have never used a sump pump. So on the last and easiest option of putting the filter on top of the tank. Would the pump be submerged in the aquarium in order to work or just the pipe or tube? Thank you.

  • @m72e592863 Well, you could actually do it either way, but it would be easier if the pump were submerged in the tank.

  • @uarujoey Thank's again.

  • Yea I saw ur video but what happns is that I have always been a fish keeper but small tanks n now I moved to big ones so I'm learning all about ths and I'm not familiar with media names so if u could give me names it ill be a lot to me thanks.

  • @alvarengaedgar I reccomended plastic pot scrubbers for this style filter. That is their name for them.

  • What type of media u would recommend for the this filter if u could give me names and the heater goes in the sump even if its not a submersible heater thanks for answering all my ?'S Thank god for joey.....!!!!!!

  • @alvarengaedgar At 2:52 i start talking at what media you can use. The heater has to be a submersible aquarium heater.

  • Hey, you should do an update on your discus!!

  • @SuperRaymond08 I'll have a discus update soon.

  • @uarujoey AWESOME!

  • Dear joey I have few ? In this filter design can it be used in a 55 gallon tank also were is the water going to flow into the filter from the tank or the over flow and finally were does the heater goes in the sump area or inside the tank ok thanks

  • @alvarengaedgar This filter can be used on any sized tank. They come in several sizes. The water flows from the tank. Either it can overflow from the tank, down to the sump, or you can put the filter on top of your tank and pump the water up to it. The heater goes in the sump, if the sump is full of water.

  • I'd love to see the whole setup in action. If you have a video of it, don't worry about this, and I'll find it. Great idea. Cheers

  • @NuDrop I do have a video on one running in action. I had it set up on my plywood tank. Its in my playlists.

  • I'd love to see the whole setup in action. If you have a video of it, don't.

  • Ok thanks a lot joey because I have few 55 gallon tanks and I tend to add more fish than what I'm supposed to and water changes become a real pain because I've been using only the regular filter hang in the back so it doesn't work as good as a canister I also have ine of the filters u made with a bottle media n a pump n wrks better but still not good enough so thanks for considering it .

  • Dear joey I'm trying to make a canister filter but homemade I don't know if u have any suggestions in how to make one

  • @alvarengaedgar I could help with that eventually. I'll probably make a video on one, once i do some trial and error with ones i already have made.

  • @uarujoey,you should have went the whole nine yards and made the filter so we could have seen it step by step. Still clueless.

  • @chipete1 The only step you need to do is drill holes in the drawers.

  • Thank you for the video

  • @23jiraiya No problem! I hope you enjoyed it.

  • @uarujoey ya i really enjoy watching all your video and i m a fan of yours. :)

  • @23jiraiya Thanks for the support. I appreciate it.

  • Thank you for uploading this I've been using 5 gallon buckets, it would've never dawned on me to use plastic drawers

  • @chillirun Good. I hope you enjoy the new filter if you good ahead with it.

  • could you turn up the volume for the next video?

  • @ThaChingster I didnt realize the volume was so low when i was editing, or i could have quickly increased the volume. I listened to it threw my speakers, and it was fine, as long as i turned it up.

  • Fantastic new style, your best video yet.

    I started mine today :)

  • @lupo10 Thanks, while this is not my personal favorite video i have, im very pleased you think so highly of it. Enjoy your new filter!

  • i made this exact one and have had it running on my pond for about a yeat now! love how clean it is!

  • @Almostazn12 Perfect for ponds as well!

  • Cool what about k1 moving bed filters?

  • @JUNAID187 Fluidized bed filters are still my favorite.

  • Nice I was thinking about making one and I came home and saw this

  • @TheToanduong Perfect timing for you then!

  • this was my idea lol thanks for showing us

  • @JacobsFishtanks This idea has been around for years.

  • Cool, a prevention Idea to elliminate a soggy floor, i'm into it. What's a standpip?

  • @randy12368 Check out my other videos. Especially the ones on plumbing an aquarium.

  • The only problem with that design as with all sumps is that if you have a power outage the tank will drain all over your floor

  • @randy12368 Thats what standpipes are for.

  • @uarujoey What would you recomend for a TINY tank? I have goldfish

  • @Ungmonable Goldfish have some of the largest space requirments of commonly kept fish A minimum of 20 gallons for the first fish and 10 gallons for each additional fish. I only keep about 6 fancy goldfish in each of my 100 gallon tanks. Please check out petgoldfish. net if you need help with them.

  • excellent job joey

I am sure I will have one of these one day

  • @rpgfan182 Would work great with your turtle tank.

  • @uarujoey

That is what I was thinking. Not sure if it will work or not though.

I want to someday set up an indoor pond style tank. My plan would be to have the sump above the pond and have the pump in the turtle pond to pump water up into the sump.

  • Great idea for a filter.

Would you ever put a RO/DI filter

on a fresh water aquarium ?

    Thank you, Nick.........

  • @nickjm37fordel1 I would use RO/DI on freshwater, but not exclusively.

  • lovin the vids

  • @JAYBMWM3 Thank you. Glad you like them.

  • Will this work for Salt Water?

  • @phoenixjodirae On a fish only system they work well.

  • @uarujoey Thank You So Much For The Answer...

  • hey can you pot scrubber in a hob filter and would that be ok bio filtration

  • @codycoffin147 Yes you could. But given the small area a HOB filter has for available media space, your far better off using a ceramic media. Plastic Pot Scrubbers are great if your looking to fill a large area, and best used when large amounts of media are needed, and ceramic media is not practical.

  • no body gives a shit about first or second.

  • TERCER ( from Catalonia, Spain)

  • thanks for the vid il try this

  • @WetTropix No problem. Good luck! You will enjoy this style filter.

  • SECOND!

  • FIRST!
