What's with the which is better discussion? Honestly I think they are both great movies, I like the remake even more. Because the remake took what the first did but also changed it enough you weren't watching the same thing in a prettier light. The fast zombies added something new to the mix, and I think fast zombies are a lot more intimidating than slow zombies. So this movie had character depth and a more survival aspect, where the other had a more action paced setting.

The remake was pretty decent and introduced some new things, but this one will alway be the best. The whole idea of zombies being slow exercises great deception, but when in large numbers, they'll eventually overwhelm you.

What gets you eaten is panic and overconfidence. Typical human folly on display.

The remakes violate this rule.

Remember towards the end they came up the stairs at the door the zombies stopped, slowed down, and then attacked? That's not real zombie behavior, that's fucking Hollywood. At least Land of the Dead didn't have running zombies. I think the 1978 version showed not only character development, but showed human perseverance and ability to adapt to hellish scenarios.

A fast zombie is less intimidating because you don't have time to be scared. You only have time to react. With a slow zombie, you have time to prepare, but it also allows your mind time to start overthinking and even to get scared and paniking.

With my .308 rifle, 12 gauge shotgun and my two .40 S&W pistols, and about 1,500 rounds combined for all mentioned weapons, I think I can hold off the horde for a short while. Plus I have plenty of KaBar knives, a cold steel brooklyn smasher baseball bat and a homemade mace able to crush a human skull all at the ready
