  • Beautiful song!

  • ahhhh.....oaky

  • Love this song i was 13 drunk as as pig at my sisters 18th birthday party in my mums garden summer 1973 (i think) kept singing this song on the floor no one new what the hell i was singing about, still love it now all these years later

  • awesome song.. always makes me pretty sad though :/

  • love the BOB FORREST version... much better !

  • it´s sooo ooold.. but still a song I can here today, thanks

  • man.. i miss people more people my age would listen to this kinda of music. im real young but i love it.

  • im quite young and enjoy this sort of music and loads of old stuff that my dad listens 2

  • I found this song from Without A Paddle. Also found No Rain by Blind Melon.

  • yea me 2 ...and i love it :X

  • I remember when this song is heard on the Independence Blue Cross commercial.

  • Shazad - How true!!

  • I've been getting a bit of greif for my next comment but......does it annoy anyone else that 'The Faces' became 'Rod Stewart and the Faces'. No one knew who Rod was until he teamed up with Ron Wood and the ex 'Small Faces' It seems a little unfair that 3 members from one of the finest bands ever to come out of the UK were demoted to just being Rod's backing band. Especially when Lane wrote and sang lead vocal on many of the Faces best songs!

  • great song! reminds me of how much life can have strange twists for us all peace to all

  • When reading the liner notes of the Faces box set, Ronnie was chosen to sing this song because the key of the song didn't fit Rod's preference. They were laughing their asses off when he was in the studio when he was trying to record it. True story.

  • i wish that i knew what i know now!! =)

  • great song.

  • this song is off the best film in the world!!

    Without A Paddle

    awsome song

  • A video camera, an album cover, and a computer: Very clever use of limited means !!! GREAT !

  • Rushmore anybody?

  • That's a good one. Awesome movie!

  • LOVE THIS SONG<3

  • RocknRoll is different from pure rock. Rock was born in England. Rocknroll cam from America

  • Rock and Roll is the original rock, to say it isn't pure rock goes against history.

Although personally I do prefer later rock, not any band in the world can claim to be equal to The Beatles. Only individuals such as Dylan, Hendrix and Charles can claim to be equal to them.

  • beatles really weren't that good, sure they sound nice but it was just a few dudes settling with popping out piss easy hits - their lyrics were 90% of the time bullshit to encourage the female demographic to hit up their concerts

they were the original boyband, stones.. kinks.. all those other bands around then are better for not taking the easy way out and actually varying their music and making well rounded music

  • Have you listened to The Beatles later albums?

Every single one of them are masterpieces.

They aren't the most successful band for nothing.

And wtf do you mean they took the easy way out, they were more experimental then any of the bands you mentioned.

There is no point in arguing, since it seems that you have only listened to the hits

  • no they aren't masterpieces, at least 4 songs per album are below par.. but i shan't argue :) your naive outlook on music can remain with you, sweetcheeks - it's jazz time

  • The singing mouth is hilarious. LOL

But I really like the song

  • WOODY RULES!!!!

  • Weman they trap you and use b4 you even know... Ha..that reminds me of a girl i know

  • without a paddle

  • fuck, this is such a good song.

  • lol i got this from without a paddle too! seth green = win!

  • yer man, kings of leon SHOULD do this, that would sound the fucking bees. i can kinda see calebs voice moulding round this... good fucking bands, the both of em!

..... but i do have to hand it to The Faces... i mean, fucking hell, rock n roll is only pure when it comes from england.

    peace.

  • no kings of leon would spoil this song, people would only like the song if that band sung it plus it would sound crap compared tu this version

  • Actually, modsrule, rock n roll is only pure when it comes from its birthplace, the United State of America.

  • Sorry, but what are you on about??

  • True that brother United States Of America Birth Place Of Rock England made the beetles....

  • Dumb fuck. I like English rock but you're sorely mistaken. Shitty southern blues crap? You know where half of the Stones and LZ's songs came from? Shitty American southern blues. If not in name then surely in inspiration. Bunch of wanker white boys ripping off "shitty southern blues songs." There would never have been English rock without America. Period. And again, I am fond of English rock but you have to respect who laid the track.

    Figures your a Zidane fan.

  • Can you say Bo Diddley...Chuck Berry??? Everything...has rOots...and it "grows" from there....like it or not.

  • And there would never have been the America with today without the english discovering it, so have some fuckin respect for your founding fathers you dick.

  • Rock and Roll is an American musical form.

But The Faces are very good.

  • No need for swearing. If you need to resort to that then I'll take that you agree with my point then.

It's only music at the end of the day, no need to start being aggressive over a valid point. I'm English but I know that Rock and Roll started in America. It's a fact, not an opinion.

  • Seems to me like you started the swearing.

  • Excuse me but when did I swear?

Again, if you want to produce a balanced retort to my point, please do so in a decent fashion.

  • I don't have a dog in this little squirmish, but I believe I read "shitty" southern blues.

    No big deal.

  • I didn't post that comment.

I replied to the reply to that comment. Seriously, I like Southern blues, why would I swear about it?

  • My bad. I read it wrong, apologies.

  • that was the most polite argument I've ever seen, i didn't think it was possible on youtube.

  • rushmore fuckin rocks this is the best song

  • its in rushmore too. good freaking movie

  • Kings Of Leon should do a cover of this

  • i totally agree!

  • i love this song :)

  • i saw with out a paddle maby time but didnt remember this song i just was surfin and clicked on someones profile saw a cover look at a few covers because i thot it was a good song then came to this the real thing, its brill

  • luv it freaky vid

  • I heard it live when they were 'normal' people....when Ronnie Lane (who wrote the song) played it with a raggle taggle band of Idon'tcares.

    Great.

  • without a paddle

  • yeah love the film, the only place i remember the song from cus im not old enough to know who the faces are lol

  • You don't have to be from the era to know the music. That's such a cop-out. Explore other eras of music. I was born in the 80s but I listen to music from the 40s to current.

  • I heard it on an American Blue Cross commercial

  • i got this song from without a paddle !!!!!!!!!

  • Haha, me too.

  • lotto Commercial

    Without a paddle (((((((:

  • fucking amazing song :)

    Without A Paddle (L)

  • Fucking brilliant

  • How many people here loved this song before watching Without a Paddle and/or Rushmore?! WOOT WOOT!

  • ME i love without a paddle

  • cool

  • this song used to be on the greatest commercial for mazda, where all these people would be singing along to this in their cars, it was so cool.

  • this songs from the movie rushmore. i luv it!

  • What film is this song from? So familiar!

  • Without A Paddle

  • Ayee that's the one (Y)

  • without a paddle

  • Without a paddle maybe?

  • Rushmore.

  • I'm not looking to one-up you here and I know that the world will continue to spin, but just to be accurate. It IS Ron Wood who sings this version, it was Lane and Wood who wrote it. Not that its the end-all, be-all, but I'll cite my reference here from wikipedia, in addition to just listening to stewart's, lane's, and wood's voices.

  • I love this song, too. But..I am so scared right now. Creepy.

  • Not Ronnie Lane but rather Ronnie Wood singing. Plonk and Stewarty were in a row over something, and were at an impasse when the producer recommended that Woody give it a roll, and voilà...here we have it.

  • Additionally...Both Stewart and Lane made recordings, but this from the Ohh La La LP was Woody.

  • One more thing...supposedly, the riff between Plonk and Stewarty was because Rod thought this number was beneath his standards.

Odd, then, that he'd do his version of it years later.

  • ronnie wood is singing. 100%

  • Don't take offense to this but... that mask is quite possibly one of the scariest things I have seen in my entire life. I'm going to crawl into my room with my tail between my legs now, hoping that it doesn't sneak into my room and kill me.

    Great Song Though

  • No kidding!

  • Haha it used to scare the brown stuff out of me too

  • great song! used perfectley in without a paddle. a very powerful song!

  • that face creeps me the fuck out

  • kick ass song

  • Ronnie Lane - wonderful.

But its Ronnie Wood singing this version.

  • By far one of the greatest songs ever written! Such a great nostalgic and bittersweet feel to it.

  • orange ad , tune !! but do know this 1

  • it is a game

  • reminds me of how life is. soo true for all the nice guys out there, including me.

  • halfords

  • One of the all-time great songs, Ronnie Lane was a genius!!

  • Brilliant song!

  • vocals are cream of the crop

  • OMGG I FINALLY FOUND IT AFKER WEEKS!!!!

    The Faces- Ooh La La

  • when I hear this song when I`m depressed I pop that in or No Rain by Blind Melon and it makes me remember good memories from the nineties the good ol` days

  • i remembered this song from without a paddle so i looked it up took me so long to find it but it was worth it

  • I think his voice is great.

    =]

  • The face's rocked this song Rod Stewart's version is okay

But I get more emotion from the faces

  • I never get tired of this song.

  • Without a paddle!, greatest movie ever, and one of the greatest songs ever!

  • oh yes! Citizen Kane means nothing to me after that movie!

  • Ron Wood isn't what you'd typically call a great singer, but for this song his voice is perfect.

I love this song. Reminds me of my granddad for some reason. :)

  • who among us, that has this original album, hasn't manipulated this cover to suit their fancy?

  • great song video scares me

  • Its so much better the way ronnie sang it because of those little imperfections in his voice

  • punkman same shit goes thru my head as well

  • this is an awesome song SPREAD THE WORD ABOUT IT

  • brilliant song, true throughout life :)

    inspires me though!

  • saddening , so true , just so saddening.......

  • whenever i watch Without a Paddle, it plays this at the beginning and end, i get it stuck in my head

  • Don't make em like this anymore no sir.

  • This is better than how we have it now. No wonder the corporation doesn't want to have the virgin Jonas Bros.have to compete with say,this...

  • always miss the interesting debates (or mass-debates).

for what it's worth I think getting broadband and not wanking makes about as much sense as buying a beer and not drinking it

  • Right-o

  • haha, ok...if you are just getting laid and jacking it, YOUR NOT A REAL MAN

a man does what the fuck he wants, if his girlfriend/wife/whatever isnt around to do the job, we dont need 'em and we still benefit.

To all you virgins talking shit to GRNDSLMHTTR3, yall talk as if yall got laid ONCE as if thats enough to call everybody lame for not fucking.

    Shit, get over it

anyway...the faces are amazing! nice vid

  • good song i heardthis song a longggg time ago but never knew what i was

  • Wow, great. I spent the whole morning trying to remember parts of the lyrics from this song so I could look it up! I wish that I knew what I know now... How could I forget!

  • Awesome video, haha! Makes me so cheered!

  • Who's the vocalist on this?

  • Ron Wood.

  • AMAZING SONG!!!

Without a paddle for the win!

  • i like it better than rod stewart's original version because of the back up singing during the chorus, but thank god rod wrote it.

  • rod didn't wrote it

  • can't you write?

  • Rod Stewart didn't write it, Ronnie Lane did. The way I understand it Rod wouldn't even sing it. Ron Wood sings this one. Rod didn't cover this until twenty years later, when, I think, he fully regretted the break up of the Faces.

  • This is the original version. Ron Wood and Ronnie Lane wrote it! And Ron Wood sings it.
