Because all return rows are simply purled it doesn't matter how many stitches you start with. I have 15 stitches in the video and I ended up the first row with pulling the taken stitch. However, you can cast on any numbers, even or odd . Just continue the direction as far as its possible. For example, if you have 16 or 17 stitches, complete the direction for 15 stitches and escape the direction for the last two stitches; just knit two stitches as basic stitches .

How many stitches are we supposed to cast on in the beginning?
