i know football will be nothing compared to this, but playing football has made me do things i though i would never do, hope it has prepared me some what for this.
I did use google. Couldn't find. Yeah, I read on the web that for the PFT it's 1.5 mile, but I wasn't sure if during regular training you're supposed to do more. Well, thank you!
Well its alright, they are smart enough to get the easy way to commission. I had to earn mine the hard way in Colorado Springs at the Academy. Sir. Now, I'm here in Randolph, flying T-38's. Sir.
ROTC cadets go to Field Training after their sophomore year. It's the ROTC equivalent of enlisted basic training. It's not the same as basic training, but it's similar.
Enlisted basic training is longer and more physically demanding. Officer field training is mentally more demanding. They make you step up and be a leader. I have to go to FT next summer, and to be honest, I'd rather go through BT.
ROTC, Academy, officer or enlisted everyone in the military eventually does this. This was just 3 days, In real feild training its 4-5 weeks of this. We marched 12 miles with 150lbs of gear, without rest.I got shot at, blown up, gased, and killed around 20 times at FTX,I even stepped on a grenade! But it gives you a sense of what we are here to do, and how we are expected to carry out when deployed and also teaches traits that you'll need as a leader. If you wanna be an officer U gotta to be tough!
@Blademaster865 alright since obviously no one knows exactly what this is. it's not the air force's ROTC boot camp. I'm in the Army ROTC and we have fall ftx and so does navy ROTC which also includes the MARINES. Not all cadets have to go to this every year it's completely volunteer. BUT since our military kicks so much ass. we all usually go anyway. So Mr.Blade. All ROTC branches have to go to the officer equivelant of basic training. Dont talk shit if you don't know what you're talking about.
Did this all in AFROTC? Wow you have access to good equipment. Mine was M-16 qualification and air soft scenarios in a mock town. Not near as stressful as that.
Really tell me about it.. We finally got to use paint ball guns this last semester!!.. and we only had 10 guns per each of our 4 squadrons of 16ish people. (some people just had rubber duckys while the enemy had a firing paint ball gun. lol. I'm off to Field Training this summer 20 MAY 2008, MAXWELL 2!!

hmla369fe I'd like to respond to your comment by saying that the Marine Corps and anything related to American Military nowadays for that matter would be nothing without Air Power. And if you can't see that, then your too dense to realize how many times Air Power has bailed ground troops out of multiple troublesome situations. Please think before your post negative responses and back them up if your going too.
And if you had a shred of wit in that Army brain of yours, you may realize that the parenthetical 'hooah' was out of sarcasm. I didn't realize Army guys were reading this or I would have broken it down Barney style.

Marine Corps basic training is NOT any easier than Air Force basic training. The easy one is Army. They have eight hours of sleep, all you can eat in the chow hall, NO YELLING,and you are allowed to use your cell phone. The Army is the branch you should be saying things about. Air Force Basic Training is modeled after the Marine Corps basic training so, it is really similar.
If my grandfather who was in the air force and served from WW2 to Vietnam saw what you wrote he would be ashamed of the image of the marine corps to find out that you where his brothers in arms.
Air Force RTOC is great and you are the best bicycle riders I have ever seen. All SIUC ROTC's will become the greatest fighter pilots and officers who ever lived. Chesty will be proud of every bike rider. Kill'em all it is easy, just protect your brother.
You have alot of nerve to make a statement like that, its a good thing this is Youtube because if i saw you in person i would report your ass in a heartbeat for making a statement like you made down below. Air force ROTC has helped in alot of ways especially helping me lose weight and get ready for the security forces.
Oh, and by the way, that comment wasn't directed towards anyone in particular, just people who seem to think that their service is awesome and all of the others suck. If that's you, please consider what I said.
I realize it isn't as tough as what Marines have to do, but I respect them for that. Don't call us Air Force personnel pussies for what we do. You use us for air support, and we use you for ground support. Our ability to work together is what makes us so dominant. So let's act like we enjoy serving together, because that's how we get things done.
It's amazing how much everyone puts down each others' services. I know everyone has a bias towards the service they are in, but to make fun of another service when you're in the military is ridiculous, and un-professional. We are on the same team! Act like it. I'm in AFROTC with one year left, field training wasn't easy, but at the same time it wasn't that bad.
But your in training and that's all that counts for now. Be serious and Honor your rank and service. If you have balls, that's perfect because balls all that counts. Semper Fidelis
I am a Huey, Cobra Helicopter mech, with that I thought was safe in the airwing. The enemy bombs still came down on us and my ground pounding training made us servive, don't think your safe in the Air Force SEMPER FI.
Your on the same side, but you need to be trained with some balls. War is not this pussy shit. When rounds are coming down range you'll wish you were trained like the Marines. Then at least you know you'll be able to fight back ROTC meatheads. God Bless your poorly trained ASSES.
Now I am sure that the eloquent vocabulary of the Army/Marine ground-pounders, is a small sampling of the gratitude and usefulness that they give to the Air Force's air power. Talk to the dudes on the ground and they will tell you what is up. Till then shut you damn mouths! BTW, the dude that made this won an Emmy; he is now a Second Lieutenant in the Air Force.
First off I want to tell you all how cool you are for boasting about your service, but wannabes have no weight when it comes to bad mouthing other services. Your lack of knowledge and ignorance of the 'big picture' is amazing. This is what those 'Pussy-ass' Air Force cadets are doing a few short years later...
It puzzles me how the egg heads over at officer accessions in AETC comes up with stuff like this. All sorts of 'familiarization training', i.e. half-baked ground combat skills, but where does it go from there? At least the Academy has Beast Barracks, but where's the trickle down effect to the other courses?
Totally unlike Army ROTC, wherein future Platoon Leaders are expected. These future 'Flight Chiefs' have a long way to go...
I know it's the air force but, we did all this training in FTX before breakfast in Marine Combat Training. This is not the military,it's pussy shit. We did that shit on the weekends for fun, and I was an airwing. Semper Fi.
WHAT!? MY AFJROTC boot camp is 2 weeks and it is crazier than this! 2 mile march? We do a 15 mile march the first day, then halfway through our boot camp, we do a 20 mile force march! PT at 0430 every morning! What's this!? The blank ammo and live fire was cool tough.
hell jrotc doesn't do what rotc in any branch does. JROTC is just marches, military hisotry, and looking good. I've never heard of a jrotc doing anything close to an FTX that any rotc branch does. As for this being as good as boot camp. It's not supposed to be boot camp. ROTC is a program to produce officers. Training is spanned over 4 years rather than a mere 3 months. Real boot camp type scenarios happen in LDAC.
Haha, I could embarrass you physically and through marksmanship and Im Air Force ROTC. Dont be such a meat head, we are all on the same side and our air support has bailed you guys out countless times.
Field training separates the cadets in gmc and poc courses. This is required for the second half of AFROTC and an officer commission.

The enemy bombs still came down on us and my ground pounding training made us servive, don't think your safe in the Air Force SEMPER FI.
justinlee5150 4 years ago

It's not bootcamp idiots...listen to the fucking video...its just a simulation

I know it's the air force but, we did all this training in FTX before breakfast in Marine Combat Training. This is not the military,it's pussy shit. We did that shit on the weekends for fun, and I was an airwing. Semper Fi.

WHAT!? MY AFJROTC boot camp is 2 weeks and it is crazier than this! 2 mile march? We do a 15 mile march the first day, then halfway through our boot camp, we do a 20 mile force march! PT at 0430 every morning! What's this!? The blank ammo and live fire was cool tough.

yeah right... jrtoc doesn't do ftx's like army rotc does.
justsomeboi 5 years ago
hell jrotc doesn't do what rotc in any branch does.

LOL how was summer camp?
IronWill89 5 years ago
Ha ha What is this pussy shit. Get it off the internet this isn't anything. Try Marine corp bootcamp.

Haha, I could embarrass you physically and through marksmanship and Im Air Force ROTC. Dont be such a meat head, we are all on the same side and our air support has bailed you guys out countless times.
