By the way, you should always put a glass of water inside the oven while doing such tests, so it doesn't run without a "load".

I'm not comfortable with microwave ovens either, but I think if it's truly radiation there would be residual radiation in the microwave right? Try putting the device inside the microwave shortly after the microwave is turned off. If that is radiation then it should still measure right? I think the microwaves are interfering with your device. I'm not sure. This is not an area I have any knowledge in but I'm using common sense.

I need a third hand to apply the right amount of facepalm concerning this video. First of all, have you any idea what wavelenght you are measuring, and even if you are measuring microvawe's wavelenght, is the radiation powerful to cause damage to your body? instead of going "Ooh.. listen to the sound it makes!!" and "It's over ONE!!!!!" (personally I prefer over 9000). Trust me, I can make something sound a lot worse than that, but it doesn't mean it's more harmfull!

Microwaves do not use ionizing radiation, you are safe, they use electromagnetic radiation. The same kind that you are bombarded with 24/7 via radio, TV, WiFi, and cell towers. For the radiowaves to get out you need a hole bigger than 1/2 a centimeter before any microwaves can escape. FYI a microwave is just a radio station inside a Faraday cage this is why the metal mesh is able to block the radio waves(IE front door). His meter is mesuring EMI a old TV will cause the same effect!

Did you maybe think to have another meter used? One random unknown meter does mean that all microwaves do that. I stand near mine and feel nothing. Besides, microwaves are light not radiation like the kind your thinking of. Invisible to us, but still light. To cook food, it shines through it exiting molecules and making heat. Sounds dangerous but microwaves at that level are not dangerous, its just extras coming through the little window, since you didnt put anything in to help absorb.

Alot of things are radioactive but light is not one of them. It's impossable because light itself is radiation, harmless or not. X rays and gamma rays are not radioactive but their emitted by radioactive sources and microwaves are not.

Very true. What these do to the molecular structure of the "foods" is horrendous. It becomes something that is so alien to the human body that it cannot be used as nutrition is designed to be used from what we eat. It is good that people test out stuff for themselves, but your experiment in it's current form does not prove/disprove anything. Nothing is said about what your measurements actually mean, wat you actually measured, the equipment you measured it with and the experiment was hardly varied and conclusive. All you showed was basically you turning on the microwave and your anonymous measuring device buzzing. I could make a vid of the same with a common lightbulb.

Did you try the experiment with a glass of water or something inside the microwave? If not, I wonder how much radiation your meter would show if a glass of water were put inside the microwave while operating. If something's inside absorbing the microwaves, then the oven shouldn't leak so much.

All a microwave does is use high frequency radio waves that cause water molecules in food to vibrate very fast. All that vibrating causes a lot of friction thus heating what is in side of the microwave. Its not like using a nuclear reactor to cook food. I use one every day and I am tumor free.

It's making that noise because it's at such a huge level. I've seen a video of Chernobyl and these use these and the radiation is not even this high on the outskirts of the zone. You can still be harmed from them however.

If you're judging it to be 'not even this high' by the noise you are sincerely mistaken. Chernobyl relates to a different kind of radiation; gamma radiation, which is ionising with a proven mechanism to cause cancer, and is measured by a geiger muller tube, so the two cannot be compared in this way. This is not to say that I don't believe microwaves may cause cancer though, I think the mechanism by which they could still needs to be proven though.
