Here's the honest truth... Groove for Thought performed the hardest music in the competition. Anyone who can appreciate how easily they nailed the passing tones would agree. Also, Kelly Kunz, one of the group members is an amazing writer and arranger. It wouldn't surprise me if he arranged all the songs they performed. It's unfortunate that other groups made it further than groove for thought did. They were the most talented.

the mistake was minor. the reason they didn't advance is because 2 of the judges are fucking worthless. shawn and stephanie are talented vocalists but that's about it. It's clear that they don't have much sense of musicality. The only TRUE musician on the judging panel for this competition was Ben Folds. It was seriously refreshing to someone who knows what they're talking about judging one of these kinds of shows.
@docaspD i agree, but only for Stephanie, she's not even a good singer in my opinion. Shawn knows harmonies, he knows good music, though he's not the best of Boyz II Men. Ben definitely knows more technicalities so he can appreciate what these guys do a lot more than the others.
As soon as she fumbled the lyrics, I cringed. They'd been sounding so good. I felt really terrible, and I just knew they were going to get kicked off for that. I was slightly surprised the judges didn't mention it, but I think they were trying to let her down easy. Everyone forgets lyrics sometimes. It's a matter of how smoothly you pick it back up.
@hermionebubble Two of them mentioned it a little (Nicole and Shawn, I think). I think they just needed a factor to cut someone, since every one of the groups this season was of the highest caliber yet. Last season some groups were good, some were OK and a couple weren't quite ready for prime time. But this year EVERYBODY was en fuego,,,the judges had to pick somebody....
Amanda recovered just fine from a two-second stumble. If that was what got them eliminated, shame on the world.

If you watch her face you can tell she didn't forget the words. Her voice just cracked when she tried to get the words out.
