  • I wish they would bring it by Amarillo, TX. We have one of the largest runways in the US. The Airport used to be a B-52 Bomber base. I can guarantee you the runway is wide enough.

  • OK, but it looks like a funny penis... Who will take the blame / credit for that?

  • yes, administration offices are largely in france. but about 60-70% of the engineering stuff was made in germany

  • air traffic controller " super heavy " lol

  • Airbus should have gone for GE90's....

  • this plane a380 is shit; one blew up over indonesia, and the shit plane had to go back to sing-a-whore. this plane is shit. china make good, better, best plane.

  • monster plane!!

  • I would love to fly on one of these, I did fly on the A340-400 on the way from Vancouver to Manila. The A380 can fly 20 hours. Cool $215,000,000 aircraft

  • What a fiasco. Aircraft is just too big to be feasable, even at largest airports they have to basically shutdown all traffic and give like 3 pilot cars for it to taxi.

  • @buschbeer100 Totaly Wrong. A380 is just like a 747 on airports, almost same space occupation. A380 operates smoothly since couple of years now and except terminals there is no special needs. A380 order waiting list is at 4 years now as far as I know : fiasco ?

  • LAX moved their runway just to make room for it. Most airports in the world can't handle the extra "space occupation" without stopping other aircraft from moving and/or shutting down adjacent gates. Much as I don't care for Airbus, you can't call an aircraft a fiasco until many years have gone by. We'll have to wait many years to see. The Concorde was an aviation marvel and way ahead of it's time, but a fiasco as far as being a successful airliner.

  • @7Kronos Longer wingspan.... so space occupation on the ground is quite a bit bigger. That's why so few airports can handle it. They would have to shut down all taxiing aircraft just to get it to the runway. That's not said as a negative, however it IS quite a bit bigger in the "space occupation" area

  • Why are people arguing over the safety over each manufacturer when a fatal crash happens what.. at most every few years? It's not even .1%, it's more like .0000001%. Does it really matter who beats each other by one more zero, or insignificant digit, when the crashes are so rare? It's not like planes are falling out of the sky every month. And when they do fall out of the skies, it's pilot error.

  • I am proud to say the 380 engines are made by a company called perkins which are part of the rolls royce group which make the parts and make the engines for this beautiful aircraft

  • "There has never been a Boeing break up inflight"

    TWA 800

    China Airlines 611

  • someone is a bit OCD with engine rotations!!! Just film the plane.

  • American are so jalous !

  • WOW! That was awesome footage thank you for sharing that.

  • Awsome Aircraft!!!

Only problem i see is that the runways look too narrow, causing the engines to hang over the grass in places. It can't be good for the engines sucking in all that dirt.

  • @dchrbac51 that was the old runway, the new one is wider and longer.

  • Too bad you didn't get out of the truck towards the end to get an unobstructed view of the take off!!! Otherwise thanks for sharing and the ATC.

  • Love hearing those engines spool up. ARE YOU LISTENING BOEING? Wonder how they will fare once the 747-800 hits the market. I still don't understand the hype with it. It can't match the A380's load capacity, its price, nor its design. Granted, the new 747 is a bit more fuel efficient, but the 747 is starting to get out-dated. I think Boeing should drop the size race and look into SST's IMO.

  • Ya but the Boeing's vertical stabilizer won't break off in a thunderstorm over the Atlantic!!

  • Well, they crashed a few Boeings too...

  • Just lost an A310 in the Indian Ocean.

  • And keep in mind that wasn't an A380 that went down, however it was its smaller cousin I believe. A340 if I remember...

  • 330

  • Same carbon fiber stabilizer design.

  • OUCH !

  • There have been more Boeing crashes than Airbus

  • Does anyone know how far of a flight it is from LA to Oakland?

  • I think it is about 300 miles and the flght time would be about 30 minutes. Something close to that.

  • Thanks. I fly into lax from houston a week from saturday, and then I'm connecting on a flight to san francisco.

  • Awesome

  • Comment removed

  • Yeah but the A380 is pretty much the safest aircraft in the sky (apart from Air Force One)

  • I'm sure having the "safest aircraft in the sky" is the goal or Airbus, but they can't claim that for the A380 because it hasn't been out long enough to make that claim. Let's relook at it's record in 10 years, and I sincerely hope they succeed at that goal! (but I doubt it will happen)

  • Ok sure

  • @MrExspert There have been several incidences of boeings breaking up in flight I can think of, without even having to google.

  • @sinisterish I stand corrected then! Could you name some of them for me, because I can think of any?

  • @MrExspert There was the Japanese one that the rear bulk head blew out of, The Air India incident and the TWA off the coast from NY for 747s. There was also that incident in the Philippines where the fuselage stripped off part of the way behind the cockpit, but that one was landed.

  • I guess I should google first for each one, but the TWA 747 wasn't a break up, it was a blew up. Not sure which Air India you mean, since they have the worst safety record around and crash regularly. The Japanese plane actually flew for 32 minutes after losing the tail (minor point but major achievement by the pilots). Planes crash, that is a sad part of aviation. However most professional pilots I know have a higher opinion of Boeings aircraft than Airbus's

  • @MrExspert RIP to those on the Japanese plane. The pilots really fought for it. They had a few pilots flying in simulators under the same condition and everyone of them crashed.

  • @sinisterish Did some research and the Japanese plane was because the airline replaced the rear bulkhead and did it wrong. Hard to blame the manufacturer when you pull their part out and replace it yourself

  • They already dropped out. Boeing is going for raneg and fuel economics instead.

  • So Boeing has sold out? "OMG We have to make something more efficient!" Seriously, ever since the world adopted this attitude everything has just sucked.

  • I saw the 380 land in Chicago on March 20th.

Where was he flying out to from LAX ??

  • wtf?! big plane! =)

  • A little less taxi, and a little more takeoff next time..

  • lol

  • lol. Even Departure IFR Controller is mesmerized "Airbus 102 ...Super.. Heavy! Contact SoCal Departure, Good Day"

Thanks for the video. I do appreciate having you at the front row seat of this historic event. I guess "To Serve And Protect" can sometime (OK, Always) be true.

    Take Care.

  • whoa that looked like a near tail strike on rotation!

  • A380 is my idea. my name Nicholas Ngo

  • I imagine that big heifer sucks up some kerosene.

  • who has not been and bouged at the YVR airport lol

  • WOW.

  • jesus christ that thing is loud...

  • I saw one at an airshow recently....... it was so much quieter than a 747!

  • no kidding? well that's something... you'd think this one would be discernibly louder than the craft whose record it took.

    what a finely-crafted plane!

  • Yeah, I know....

I think it's because of the Trent 900 Engine

  • is it as popular

  • Do you mean popular in sales?

  • yes

  • Not really, because the A380 is more expensive than the 747. Because most of the airlines have already received all their 747's, they don't see any purpose in purchasing an A380. If they could afford it, then they would buy it. Overall, Boeing has received about 1500 747's (747-100, 747-200 etc) and Airbus has received about 200 orders for the A380. Hope this answers your question :)

  • You sound like quite an authority, dont you? A380 can't be called less popular since it's only two years into service. It is more expensive but flies 50% more people burning the same (or less) fuel than 747. Many unfilled orders for this first model (A380-800 then -900 , -1000). The very first 747 (-100) flew in 1970. Since then came 747-200, -300 and -400 series. Airlines will need to replace their old 747-400s soon. That's the story and A380 will probably be very popular, end of story.

  • Yeah but so far Airbus hasn't received the orders for the A380 which are to replace some airlines' 747. You'll need to actually wait until the orders are placed to find out whether it's more popular. And some airlines might choose to go with the 747-8.

  • As of right now there are 200 orders for A380 and only 105 orders for 747-8.

  • Ok.

  • What?? How on earth can you compare the sales of the 747 which entered service in 1970 to the A380 in 2007???

And FYI Singapore Airlines and Qantas have started replacing their 747 service with ther A380's and Air France and British Airways are expected to do the same accordingly.

  • Look, applemac2009 asked me if they are more popular and I replied in my perspective. If I left something out, whatever. People make mistakes.

  • keep the bloody camcorder still

  • i think it would be cool for the A380 to become the successor to the B747 for Air Force One

  • u can see that on LAX when u travel. some planes go direct against the busses and take off.

  • How'd ya get so close? Amazing. Thanks.

  • Escort car. Thats how he got that close.

  • too heavy... luv it:X

  • Airbuses are all cheap plastic? i spouse u haven't heard of the 787.

  • there could be a 797 comin out soon dunno when like :)

  • Keep working on your diesel engines kid, that you are never going to get close to a jetliner. And with your mentality, thats a good thing.

  • diesel engines???

  • Yes! It's RR 970 engines has that old school RB 2:11 low hum at start up.

  • the 747 aint going nowhere and for those who dont know check out the new 747-800Intercontinental.

  • hahaha super heavy, i love it

  • thats a mean flyby

  • it kinda reminds me of a bull shark for some really odd reason

  • why are police following the plane lol

  • in case someone steals an engine

  • ahahahahahha

  • @P0P357UR3 Well...you know...those engines are expensive....

  • rofl nice answer

  • This is great too!

  • if they can make that huge beast fly why cant they just make flying cars

  • Cuz we all know if GM does it, the flying cars will be made by slack-jaw rednecks, with fit and finish being that of a beer can. Gm hires only designers who only can copy from chevy, pontiac, cadillac, hummer, buick and so on. GM flying cars would be only a four speed model, when the rest of the world only deals with 6 and 7 speeds. That is why today GM is the biggest fuck up in car business.

  • well thats changeing did u see the newer models malibu is hot also the saturn aura has 6 speed automatic but i do admit in the 80s and 90s they all sucked

  • The man sounded surprised, lol! Of course it lifted off, it was made for it!

  • that is so awesome

    super heavy

    and the police escort

  • super heavy!!! funky (=

  • it's great i want to buy one

  • It appears to have had some problems taking off. That is one beast of a plane!

  • The A380 uses less runway than a Boeing 747, weird but FACT! lol

  • true, less at take off and less at landing. amazing work from airbus

  • Love to Fly one!!

  • really well desighned plane. beats the 747!

  • well 747 is getting very old now. but A380 is a nice piece that will definitly make industry work harder and faster to beat it. After the concord, I must admit, France made another commercial plane legend.

  • European, not french ...

  • @7Kronos: France? Hey, this is an Airbus project, which comprises some other countries, too...

  • @pockenface62 I'm sorry to say that all Airbus conception / prototyping offices are in France. The only external studies was engines from RR. Of course there is many genious european workers in Toulouse but Airbus is mostly french so considered as this even if EADS is european.

  • @7Kronos why sorry to say?

  • @7Kronos Most if it is German kido.

  • @7Kronos Most of it is German, like the Design is German made. and ALOT of other things.

  • @7Kronos love how France made the euro-fighter too... infact pretty sure they invented everything ever. -_-

  • Its soo big, it doesnt really look like its moving when coming down the runway to take off. I wish i could stand by one just to feel how big it is.

  • omg i cant believe that thing can fly

  • I want one of that engines on my car! :-)

  • That thing is a BEAST....I want to live on one...LOL rent a room...LMAO....anyway, cool vid

  • You're right Caffeineincorporated,..her callsign was Airbus 380 Super Heavy! LOL,...the first time i heard a pre-production plane being called as super heavy

  • airbus owns...

  • lol"super heavy"

  • omg omg i love this airplane its so sexy lool. even though its a lil fatter that the 747 but the wings are beautifully made just like an albatros.(hopefully eveyone knows what an albatross is)

  • No what is it?

  • its the bird with the biggest wingspan and if this was your try at sarcasm bad very bad

  • why is it that everyone seems to think that all airlines are getting the A380. They are designed for Long Haul and long domestic IE: LAX-NY. Singapore is the first to get it and Qantas are getting 10 of them!!!

  • cool vid, thx

  • Yea Swissport takeing care of the ground ops, any fellow Swissport employes

  • westjet have 64 beoing 737s

  • Its mainly the largest airlines of the world that have ordered it. British Airways, Singapore Airlines, Air France, Lufthansa and so on...

  • nice video. thank you. that's mad rolling down the runway so close.

  • i cant wait till lufthansa and air canada get this plane and maby even westjet!

  • >.> Yes, Lufhansa..But Air Canada will never get that aircraft. The population just isnt there for such a jet to be used in Canada, thus the reason Air Canada got rid of their 747's. And Westjet.. Pfft O_o...Are You Mad..Impossible. Odds are, West Jet will stick with 737's.

  • thx and wow air canada had 747 cool!!! lol westjet will never get the a380!!!!but thanks for telling me this information

  • west jet will never buy a 747 or 380 they only buy 737

  • Yes, last Monday the first a380 was delivered to singapore airlines

  • i cant wait tll this plane comes out next year

  • Not sure what you mean by coming out... first deliveries are taking place and I believe singapore airlines was the first.

  • the a380 is 30 percent quieter inside than the 747 and you have a touchscreen based entertainment system on every seat. you can change between more than 300 movies or video games. it´s a perfect and comfortable long distance plane

  • That entertainment system is nothing new.

  • I am a die hard 747 fan, but I have to say I am impressed. Super Heavy, HUM!

  • Beautiful and so quiet. Can't wait to fly it. Sucks that no US based airline has ordered it yet but I will be happy to take my business to a European or Asian airline!

  • No US carrier really needs an aircraft that size.

  • Police cars with sirening then chase the A380? i dont understand.

  • airport security procedures; its a test aircraft.

  • Oh, Thankk you

  • The new 747-8 Intercontinental will offer a significant improvement over the A380. The 747-8 is more than 11 percent lighter per seat than the A380 and will consume 10 percent less fuel per passenger than the 555-seat airplane. That translates into a trip-cost reduction of 19 percent and a seat-mile cost reduction of more than 3 percent, compared to the A380. Both the 747-8 Intercontinental and 747-8 Freighter can use the existing infrastructure and ground equipment at most airports worldwide.

  • lolu here the tower- Airbus "Super Heavy" goodday

  • Following another delay to the A380 program in October 2006, some airlines stated they were considering switching their orders to the 747-8

  • did he abort the first take off?

  • I think maybe the wind changed direction and they had to use a different runway.

  • boah kids STOP IT! i can´t hear it anymore....."this is better" "no...it isn´t".....EVRY DAMN plane has it´s pros and cons.....

  • Airbus may have made it bigger, more efficient, and quieter, sure. But it's UGLY. And it takes off like an airbus (shallow angle, no oomph). There is something to be said for the aesthetics of flight, and Airbus is too interested in making an efficient plane to stop and make it pretty, too. Boeing, on the other hand, has never lost its touch.

  • dude man the 380 is beautiful plane. boeing doesnt have any balls to build like that.

  • It's a great plane no doubt. Hopefully it will help ease air conjestion on certain routes. But just how in the hell is it going to fit at the gate/runway/ramps? F@#$ me its massive!!

  • the A380 will eat a 747 alive

  • Its a slow video but entralling as the A380 looks so huge. Its amazing that it can actually lift off. Not so good looking as the B747-400 but what a feat of engineering. That's technological progress I suppose. Excellent video.

  • I'll drink to that my friend LONG LIVE THE 747 FOREVER the trur Jumbo jet. BTW just you wait until you see the new 747 that will be longer than the a380 and put it to shame.

  • The 747-800? She sure will, the funny thing, the current 747 model still craps on the a380.

    Long live the 747@

  • FRENCH c'est une fierté francaise vous pouvez etre content vous americains

  • Super Heavy..... loved it!

I've watched this a ton, and I think this shows, in my opinion, the speed the A380 has. It's HUGE, and it looks like it's CRAWLING when moving, only because, well, it's SUPER HEAVY. [bad, I know.] Here, you hear the great engine noise from those 4 Rolls Royce engines, and you see the speed.... I mean, it's gotta be goin' fast to get off the ground, dontcha think?

I wanna fly in one. May never happen, but still wanna fly in one. :D

  • The take off speed depends on the size of the wing in relation to the weight. The A380 is designed to have equal or better flying characteristic than the B747.

  • SUPER Heavy...wow!!

  • I sure hope you were wearing earplugs! Damn that plane is loud!

  • do u get free cheese on board??

  • Looks great, sounds great. Thanks to A380atLax for posting this vid!

  • Yes, look at any A340 from behind its the same shape, that's how Airbus builds their wings.

  • Europeans Rule!!!!

  • Nice Video of the A380 Super Jumbo. Man the Jet is HUGE! Love the Engiene Start Up

  • jeez, i think just one of those engines is bigger than my entire apartment. lol

  • lol....yeah thats some big engines...O.O

  • pilots say that the hardest part of flying is taxiing to and from the runway, especially in chicago o'hare.

  • i dont doubt it i had trouble with a 777-200 dont tell my boss

  • Amazing, do planes ever lose their way on the ground?

  • I was on a plane at heathrow going to New York and the plane had to turn around on the ground it was going the wrong way, a 4x4 came and we followed it.

  • great vid!

  • Great coverage. ... You party

  • I love that ATC is calling "Super Heavy". In the future, when planes get even bigger, will they say "Super-Duper-Heavy"?
