  • What happened to the bodies of the black men of the 54th?

  • @staclynn72 The 54th lost the battle of Battery Wagner and were buried in a mass grave outside of the fort. Because of years of Atlantic hurricanes eroding the beach at Morris Island the bodies were eventually washed out to sea; They are no longer located on the Island.

  • It's a very impressive memorial. If you're ever in Boston do see it. It's on the Boston Common.
