@drunkenlion510 yes they have done it a few years ago in 2006 and have gotten 3rd place. They have competed a lot in 2010 in the Hong Kong Asia lion dance championships and Singapore lion dance championships.
Tell me if I'm wrong, but is'nt Yau Kung Mun the name of a kung fu System? It's related to Pak Mei and Lung Ying. All lion dance has it's origins in kung fu even if newer schools don't pratice KF.
*raises hand* to be a stupid iono wat u want to call me i gueess foriener... this certian performace... could it be done as well as the traditional perfprmance at a wedding?? or will it be concidered bad luck???
Please watch your language when calling strangers idiot...I agree that it is lion dancing on jongs, but another meaning for kong fu is skills obtained by putting in the time and hard persistent training. I am sorry that I used Kungfu as a noun instead of a verb, therefore the misunderstanding...btw Yau Kung Mun is a style of Chinese Martial Arts from the Shaolin temple...I am pretty sure that these lion dancers have trained in Kungfu also.
ok im sorry for calling you an idiot. yea they practice kung fu. and kung fu also helps with lion dancing. im not sure how Yau Kung Mun is but i know what u mean by the other meaning of kung fu since i do Hung Gar. im curious do u do lion dancing and kung fu? i do hok san and fut-hok style of lion dancing.
apologies accepted. I practice Internal Martial Arts.
Truth be told, I haven't learned lion dancing, but know that it must take a lot of time to practice and that some of the basics are the same as regular KF training, ie stance, endurance, and strength training.
Could you share some info about hok san and fut-hok styles of lion dancing?
My dad trained in yau kung mun since he was a kid but ended when i was born 21 yrs ago. But he still can hold his own when he needs to, he likes Wu Dip Dao (double butterfly knives). oh yeah im a Sydney sider too
this fiery dragonlion is a new troupe just established.
they are good but lose to singapore perhaps due to the jongs not decorated at all...very plain as for their skills are good ...those who watched the world lion dance comp held in spore will know!their scoring pts almost there compare to spore yiwei and longtian
did ykm get into genting? they would have got a pretty good score

they would have learnt the basics....because of the nature in hk...they perform as if they were professionals...as in their actual job....
so they train hard to get good results..they dont learn much kung fu over in hk..
