  • 0:33 he says sorry bout' that! :D!!

  • LMAO i love how the blue guy @ 1:36 tried to puff up and block Bip from busting through! hahahaha his face is HILARIOUS!

  • @MissLisa1970 lol.. good eye. they are such great puppeteers... they make them all come to life.

  • BWHAHAHAHAHA i soooo remember this! it's been since i was a kid but i remembered ALL the words lol classic!

  • Classic!!!

  • The orange dude is lil wayne...

  • THIS BRING BACK MEMORIES

    HAHAHAHA

  • Bip is the dude that tought Eminem how to rap.

  • I LOVE this

  • lol this is cool

  • Bip ripped all those other MCs (lmao)

  • Gone are the golden days...

  • The green sunglasses guy is awesome.

  • Thanks for the memories. ^^

  • You can tell that the authors of this clip were into some serious drugz !

  • gangsta.

  • I use to watch this all the time when i was little. The green one was my favorite.

  • "O, yeah!!!" I luv it!!!!

  • "Hey y'all!" Lol!

Imaginative children's programming without the smart-arsery that you get in everything these days.

  • I know they're trying, but Sesame Street lost its direction and vision when Jim Henson died.

  • Damn Hippies.

  • Mahna Mahna Do Do Dido do

  • when i was a kid i thought this was supposed to be some kind of a statement about hippies and skinheads fighting each other.

  • this way better then Elmo's World

  • ok...lol..i'm still trippin on this...lol...if you listen closley...he apologizes @ 0:34...lol

  • Yeah, I heard that, too. He was like, "Oh, ... yeah, ... sorry 'bout dat ..." I never heard it as a kid, though. LOL!!

  • that's my shiit!

  • I meant, " ... shaking THEIR heads at him ..."

  • I think this was an early rebellion against hip-hop. The three bald guys were smooth and cool, and did spoken poetry, ... but suddenly this orange hair guy comes with his loud hip-hop rants and ruins it all. That's why the bald guys keep shaking his head at him as if to say, That ain't it, breh ..." LOL!!

  • When did hip-hop start?

  • they all have the same barber!!!

  • They were so freakin' cool. LMAO at how they tried to block the orange haired dude at 1:35. LOL!!

  • SEE THE RED HEAD BEING FED BREAD ON HIS SLED MADE OF LEAD AS HE SPED TO BE WED BUT HE FLED INSTEAD OUT AHEAD UP TO TED IN HIS BED AND HE SAID:

    Red Head Fed Bread

    Small Ball Tall Wall

    Fat Cat Sat Hat

    AND THAT'S THAT.

    SCAT!

  • He was about to be wed, but fled to Ted in his bed.....instead?

Sounds like some confusion about his sexual orientation. Heavy stuff for Sesame Street.

  • i fuckin hate that blue guy!!! lol

  • watch blue man's mouth at 1:33! pure genius!!

  • Jim Henson was a true genius.

  • this was seasame street in the days when it was actually entertaining... children these days are truely missing out

  • I agree, thouuuugh... there're always reruns, but I don't see this on TV, just POS shows on Nick and Disney which are barely funny. The last quality one I saw was Back at the Barnyard, but its humor is more aimed at a mature audience. In the old days they did a better job of presenting the appropriate jokes for each generation.

  • true.. even now.. i'm 21. i still find myself looking back at this stuff (even other past cartoons) and finding something DIFFERENT to laugh at as i age. lol. thats what u call true family entertainment. these vids have a special immortality that somehow has been lost along with the writers who put them together. I say bring back the old cartoons

  • I love the constipated expression of the blue guy at 1:38

  • Oooh, yeah! Classic Jim Henson weirdness!=)

  • lol...how funny are the monsters!

  • very entertaining music!

    Very funny song!

And very catchy singing from Bip and the band!

    ******

  • our kids need this stuff SOOO much!

  • This is hilarious. They should've waited until 1972-73 to do this, when Richard Hunt came on board. Then he could do the lavender muppet. That's just my take on it.

  • Me too!

  • "HEY YALL!!!!" LOL

  • It's my senior year in High Schol all over again...

  • Heeeeee heeeeeee I almost pissed myself. I soooooooooooooooooooooo remember this shizzzzzzz. AMAZING---OH YEAH SORRY ABOUT THAT--he he he :)

  • in the good way right?

  • This represents the timeless conflict between the repressive state and the individual needing to be heard. I think Ayn Rand did the choreography on her death bed.

  • thats the best thing about sesame street, there so much more ot it than meets the eye.

  • LOL!!! Gotta LOVE IT!!!

  • Bip just sounded totally stoned in this. "Ohhyeah...sorryboutdat." I keep expecting him to add "man" to that, lol.

The ending is priceless, he just runs right into the camera, lol!

The things we 70's children were exposed to, I love it! <3

  • Any1 know wher i can find the Beet Sugar clip from sesame? u know...beet beet sugar beet beet sugar yeah yeah????

  • I used to think Bip Bippadotta was the same Muppet as Mahna-Mahna, but Bip looks like he's smaller.

  • the blue green & purple naked (LOL) puppets are know as "whatnots"

  • These were the days. TV now sucks!

  • I forgot what a great song this is! Somebody should cover this song!

  • At the beginning of this video, it almost looks like Bip is pausing to let out a little fart.

  • i liked it when they said the fat cat sat on a hat i like the orange dude. He makes me laugh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Love it, it cracks me up.

  • Do I ever remember this...nothing like classic Sesame Street...

  • I know that Bip is voiced by Jim Henson and the blue guy is voiced by Frank Oz but who did the voices for the Green dude and the purple guy?

  • Jerry Nelson does the Green guy and Jim Henson does the purple guy as well as Bip.

  • @wattamack4 the purple guy is actually voiced by Richard Hunt

  • @MrBoredwibilly Nope, it's Jim.

  • @wattamack4 Richard Hunt and Jim Henson sound pretty similar in that tone of voice, but if you pay attention to where the characters go, it would be physically impossible for Jim to work both puppets.

  • there has to be a sublimonal message somewhere

  • I don't smoke any more and this still kills me.

  • oh.. I LOVE THIS LOL

  • Beatniks vs. 80's Rock... lol

  • The blue guy sounds like fossy bear.

  • That's because they were both played by Frank Oz.

  • Actually, because the blue guy is voiced by Frank Oz, he sounds like a mix between Sam the eagle and Fozzie bear.

  • You can also hear a bit of Frank Oz's Yoda in that one.

  • Really, cause I don't hear Yoda in this segment. Maybe it's because I don't watch the Star Wars movies very often.

  • That scruffy lookin guy really desevered beat down for messing up their rap.

  • They just don't make educational kids shows like they used to... I always loved this. It's just so damn funky.

  • That is so funny.

  • So, is this how rap music was invented ??

  • I wish I had hair like Bip. It's cool!

  • The mahna mahna guy sounds angry.....THE FAT CAT SAT ON A HAT...lol

  • The more I watch this, the better it gets! To heck with "adult" music, I'm just gonna spend the rest of my life eating cereal and watching this.

  • TOTALLY hear the Dr. Teeth voice there! :)

  • the guy who played the funky muted guitar on this and "would you like to by an o?" is my hero.

maybe it's leo nocentelli from the meters?

  • gimme gimme gimme! lol

  • I just looked this song up on BMI, and bingo, it's there. It's BMI Work #1886552 and is attributed to Jeff Moss and Joe Raposo. The title's "Fat Cat". (ducks out of room now)

  • Ah, the Mahna Mahna guy... His problem is that the other muppets just can't accept his great funk-ayness! And don't let him get his groove on.

  • Wow. I love this so much... the lavender one's my favorite, but I think when I was little I liked the green one..

  • Doesn't the Green one LOVE to express his singing voice lol.

  • @wattamack4 Yep!

  • This is the most hilarious skit ever, considering Bip Bippadotta bursting in every time.

  • If you find this halarious, you may wanna check out my video of this in slow mode.

  • BTW anybody notice the personality's these guys all have in this song?

Bip - A musician who always wants the spotlight to himself

Green guy - A guy who loves to express his singing voice

Blue guy - A square who isn't very interested in anything(hencing his tone of voice in this song)

Lavendar guy - A very smooth guy who likes to sing very smooth(probably to attract women lol)

  • Richard Hunt had one of the best singing voices of all the Muppeteers. Then again, I'm pretty sure they made this between 1970 and 1972, before Richard Hunt was hired as a Muppeteer on the show in the fourth season, so they got Jim Henson to perform two Muppets in this.

  • This was from 1973.And yes,Jim Henson did perform two muppets in this sketch.

  • Is the one the hair same one that sings mannah-mannah on muppets show. Is it one of two henson performed.

  • It's two different muppets.

  • This is childhood gold!

  • Wow! What a blast from the past!

  • Wait.. The red head eating bread on a sled was off to be wed, but instead he fled up to Ted in his bed???

  • Yeah, you got it...

  • I was afraid of that.

  • Yes I'm surprised they got away with that because "fled" means vomiting and they made Jim make Bip say "But he fled instead up to Ted in his bed" which means the red head(being Bip) vomited on top of Ted in his bed.Well, this was made in the seventies, back when you could get away with something on t.v. and P.C. didn't have to view it first.

  • Uh...personally, I've *never* heard of the word "fled" meaning vomitting...It means escaped...He was supposed to go get married, but he fled...chickened out and went somewhere else instead of going to his wedding.

Or were you joking and I missed it?

  • That's what makes it so funny. :)

  • O.o

    =D

  • The blue guy's "Sat" line cracks me up!

  • Doesn't the Blue guy sound like he's not too interested in singing this?

  • Yes he does, that's why it sounds funny.

  • That's Frank Oz for ya'.

  • Exactly. This used to scare the shit out of me seeing Bip come running to the front and saying his line.

  • Part of the intro is missing, but otherwise this is priceless.

  • Close enough.
