@CrackerJackLee I love Georgia and despise ignorance. You sir are an ignorant racist just like the stereotypical Georgia cracker. I just used that as an example of another nasty name people use when the stereotype people.
@CrackerJackLee According to your asinine reasoning it is better to suck uncircumcised dick then circumcised dick. That's what you inferred! Don't get mad at me! Personally I don't suck any but I bet you would have had a ball with Hitlers! Bigot!
@CrackerJackLee Why the stupid racial slur, he never stole the music he PLAYED it, the credit went to the right place and your comment should be in the trashcan.
all of the entertainment business has been hijacked by jews... they all copy Americans and then reap the money... it's a closed nest for an inbred ethnic power group... they got rid of the grand ol' opry from the media... they pushed out all history that enobles non-jews and replaced it with their trash culture... why listen to a jew in costume singing an American's song...? listen to the real thing... it's far better...
@CrackerJackLee In my humble opinion your comments belong with you, in the gutter. You are a stupid racist who classifies people based on their religion rather than their ability. Without people like Leonard Chess real musicians would have found it much more difficult to break into the national consciousness. Go play with a gator and fuck off commenting on real music.
LOL! Leonard Chess and all the other parasitic hangers-on made fortunes off these duped artists... you call me a stupid racist... but you're just plain stupid... go worship your rip-off artists... you have the mentality of a well trained slave...
@CrackerJackLee Your knowledge of the history of American music is coloured by your stupidity. I prefer listening to original artists however I do not turn into some idiotic racist fool like you because someone has a different religion to me. Musicians have always been exploited by their agents and managers regardless of colour or creed. It may be difficult for you however stop being a stupid knobhead.
jackass... it has nothing to do with religion... it's an inbred ethnic group... they've cornered the market on entertainment... just look at the sheer numbers... if you ain't jew - you can't get in... that's why the quality has deteriorated... they have no one to copy... you're only allowed to watch... and they get the money... they change their names... they get nose jobs to pass as whites... black people have been robbed over and over by these people...
@CrackerJackLee Leonard Chess started developing talent in 1946 that nobody else would have ever noticed if he didn't bring them to our attention. Wake up and smell the coffee! .
@CrackerJackLee My mom is from Maine. Her dad came down for the potato harvest and met my grandma so we all know about the Canadian immigration but that didn't make my mom, who is half French Canadian Cajun. Music belongs to everybody. How can anybody steal music. And if Jews are smart enough to make money off of it why be jealous. You dumb ass ignorant Canadian Hitler wannabee. You better wake up and read YOUR history books so you can see where this kind of hate gets people!
she would have been had her ancestors came from Acadia, Nova Scotia, Canada... if her ancestors came from Quebec, that would make her of French Canadian descent... Canada is a big place, my son... second largest country in the world... even bigger than Texas...! Tarnation...!
@CrackerJackLee No matter how many so called facts you throw at me you are just an ignorant bigot. Bigots are always well researched in their rationalizations, Bye Bye.
funny...? history books show that the Cajuns came from Canada... from Acadia... the Acadians... from Nova Scotia... never heard of Evangeline and the Acadian Expulsion from Canada by the Red Coat British...?? try reading a history book... it may get you de-hooked from circumsized dick...
cajun music comes from the fiddle... and the fiddle came to New Orleans from Nova Scotia, Canada... read it and weap... jews never created Cajun music... you smokin' too much circumcized dick for my likin'...
@CrackerJackLee Now your making homosexual, Homophobic assumptions about somebody you don't even know. From my experience online that is a characteristic of a repressed troll so you are not worth answering again. Cajun Music came from Cajun country not from where french Canadians emigrated from. they might be related to french music the same way bluegrass is related to Scotch and Irish music but it is essentially Cajun Louisiana Music unique unto itself not French Canadian.
LOL! boy, are you ever uneducated... you don't even know the origins of the people who make up America... did you think that the Cajuns came from the bayou...? they came from Acadia...
@CrackerJackLee They weren't called Cajuns yet bone head they were called Acadians or whatever they had to stay awhile to be called Cajuns jerk wad just like I had to stay awhile in GA to be called a southerner. Boy are you a dumb ass ignorant bigot.
I believe that's James Burton in the front right playing guitar...Leon did a bunch of records in the late 50s under the name Russell Bridges on Roulette Records and elsewhere
Wow, even then Leon was a rebel with his hair way over his collar. I've only followed Leon since the Mad Dogs & Englishmen and saw the tour with Joe Cocker at SMU in Dallas.
If you like the Country side of Leon, I would recommend "Hank Williams Back". It's really good. It' sort of a mix between Country & Blue Grass.
I've always hated this song, ever since Hank first recorded it. This version is pretty good, as it's boogie, but I saw Leon at The Palomino Club, in North Hollywood, in '78 or '79, and he blew me away. He sang this song as a GOSPEL number. I still hate this song, but I love it when Leon sings it.
@judecreek2 Really, you think so? I don't see Donald, Donald was never that good looking! This is a great vid, he is so cute here, all clean shaven and all. But I love him as a long haired hippie. My kind of people.
I've always hated this song, from when Hank Williams first recorded it. Then, in 1979, I saw Leon do it at the Palomino Club, in North Hollywood. It was slow, bluesy, and gospel-like. I still hate the song, if it's sung by anyone other than Leon, but HE nails it.
@judecreek2 It's amazing that you spotted that "glare" (guess it's not really hard to find). You must follow Leon from years back because he always had this "look" in concert. First saw him back in '72 and then five more times since. Check out Joe Cocker's Mad Dogs and Englishmen here on the U. Leon does the glare there too!
I guess with a face like that he had to grow all that hair that he did ..to be taken seriously musically and not be just another idol. I wasn't familiar with his early stuff till seeing this.
Awesome - yep thats Glenn Campbell - the two of them are on a lot of albums back then as part of the wrecking crew that backed up all sorts of acts - beach boys, jan and dean, sinatra and so on........so funny his clean cut look compared to later!

I was the sound engineer on a tv series called "In Session" shot in Hamilton, Ontario in 1983. The show featured pairs of great musicians with a backing band. One of the episodes featured Leon Russell and Glen Campbell. They told some stories about their days as L.A. session musicians, and being in the Shindig house band. (Billy Preston was the other keyboardist!) Leon and Glen were both class acts.
