  • @LuckiRam So what tools did you use for this?

  • Your laptop must have been missing a lot of screws JACKASS!!!! You wasted your time making two parts yet you missed some very important steps.... go feed the bears assclown

NOTE: if u follow this step by step u will never figure it out!!!

would have rather gotten Rick Rolled... FAIL

  • dude, not to be mean, but are u in a fucking shipping yard

  • I bought mine from either currys or comet. My keyboard got all sticky after I spilt some coke on it, but still worked. So i removed the keys and lightly wiped with a cloth to stop the keys being stuck underneath. Then when I put the keys back on the whole keyboard was broken. Then some keys kept doing like zzzzzzzzzzzzz even tho when I press the z it was broken???? or would just say "h6" or random letters and numbers.. I had to use a usb keyboard and remove the old keyboard.. Thankyou :)

  • @waltonaaron1

I think its best you replace the keyboard, you can get one for under $15 on Amazon or eBay.

    Thank You.

  • @LuckiRam can i just slide the new one in and iit will work. Also thankyou so much :)

  • @waltonaaron1

Yes just connect and you’re good to go

  • Ehh, some idiot (manufacturer, presumably) put mega-strong double sided tape in under the keyboard and I had to dang near break teh keyboard prying it off the tape.

  • Missing something here. Took out all the screws removed in the video and then some, but there's still something holding the keyboard in on the left side. Ideas?

  • also there was nothing shown on how to remove the back panel, not really very informative at all, too much info missing. i mean anyone can remove screws the important information is not here

  • would have been great if you'd shown exactly which screws you had to remove to get the keyboard and optical drive as they're probably the most likely parts people will be replacing, didn't really get anything from this vid sorry

  • this video helped me out a lot. i was stuck at one point with the rubber inserts on the bottom. i personally hate to disassemble dell laptops. thanks for the video, it was truely helpful.

  • you would think that with a newer dell model they would make it easy to take a hard drive out

  • @nickmaster9696

Well Said, I wonder what they were thinking…

  • Thanks for this video. I had to end up removing all the screws in mine as one was keeping the keyboard in place.

  • @xamox

    Welcome Bro

  • @LuckiRam how did you get the DVD-RW drive out? I have an N5010 and I am assuming they are almost the same. I just ordered a BDROM/DVDRW combo drive and will be replacing it myself..

  • @y0himba

I cannot remember the configuration of this system, but from looking back at this video I think I may be able to help.

Turn the system over ,remove the Screw next to the front of the DVD drive, then remove memory cover, look in there you should see the bracket of the Drive screwed down, remove the screw then slide the drive out

  • @FCPORTO1FAN

When all the clips are released, the top of the keyboard would be free but there’s still a piece of 2 sides adhesive tape one the left side of the keyboard holding it in place.

Gently pull on it or pry with prying tool then remove keyboard.

  • thanks mate. looks like its a lot of effort to change the HDD. thanks again.

  • @see2417yt

    Welcome bro

  • good video. fu**ing idiots, dell, made it hard to change the hard drive here...

  • hey, how would i go about upgrading my processor? Where does it go?

  • @Corey1153

Look at part 2 of the video from 1:10 to 1:25, your will see the heat sink screwed onto the mainboard, remove the heat sink then unlock the processor and replace. I think I showed more details in another video check my list and go through the other notebook guide

  • Dude, I wanna thank you for this...U really helped me out....THANKS BRO!!!!

  • @Ge174

Glad I was able to help you bro.

  • works for dell inspiron n5010 also thks

  • @quicksilv3r1984

    Cool, Welcome.

  • @luckiRam - nice video man. I just brought this laptop, but mine has onboard intel HD graphics. Is there any way to put a graphic card in it? i mean any slot ?

  • @gaurav12345pareek

Yes you can, providing your main board has the slot.

Next you need to find a card which was manufactured specifically for your Model #

  • Hey LuckiRam, thanks for this video. I know it'll sound really stupid but which bit is the hard drive? thanks man :)

i need to remove it from my laptop as it is now toast and I am trying to connect it to a working pc in order to try recover my data.

  • @HeidiEraJonky

Ok look at the video, pause it at 3:15. The hard Disk Drive is on the left side, up front, it is the rectangular metal, silver part, with a white sticker on in which includes model # Size, Brand etc…,

If you still don’t understand then visit Amazon and search for Notebook Hard Drive

Let me know is u need anything else.

  • @ Syrinx69 , The sounds are of Crickets chirping

  • What is that squeaking sounds in the background? That would drive me insane

  • @ 00Rebirth00

Yes you can remove just the keyboard. The thing is though the keyboard can be cleaned without removal.

You can easily bend the keyboard out of shape or break something,

It would be a lot safer to just try cleaning it on the system rather than off.

  • Why dell make it harder to swap hard drivers? On Latitude D series it's so easy to swap it, unscrew and pull it out.

  • If I wanted to just clean the keyboard and make the keys unstick as is the issue I'm having now, could I just remove it as such, press on the buttons/clean them to make them unstick, and place it back in and turn it back on? Or would I have to do that another way?

  • 1 @ Sison86, there are 2 screw holding the keyboard from below.

Since you are stripping down to change drive, all the screw from the back (bottom) should already be out.

Next you need to release the clips behind the function keys, F1, F7, x and then somewhere around the Page up area. Press the function buttons and you would see where the clips are located.

Start at one end and raise the keyboard as you release the clips

  • @LuckiRam thanks man!!i did it

  • @LuckiRam thanks man!!i did it...

  • 2 @ Sison86

When all the clips are released, the top of the keyboard would be free but there’s still a piece of 2 sides adhesive tape one the left side of the keyboard holding it in place.

Gently pull on it or pry with prying tool then remove keyboard.

  • man i have problem 2 remove the keyboard..IS there any screw i must too put off?

At the left side the keyboard is tight and cant remove it..I saw your note but i cant see nothing too remove..Can u explain how does this damn keyboard remove?

I want to replace the hard disk..

  • @Sison86 you probably found out by now but for what its worth, theres a screw next to the RAM sticks that he didn't show.

  • @ Niverton

    You’re welcome bro

  • Nice video!

    thank you

  • which graphics card is the dell 15R

  • I looked at this with interest as I lost a sim card inside my 15r recently. long story. Anyway I have a i5 with a blu ray drive. I followed what I saw in the video. removed the first two screws (consused as to why they need to some out at that point but I assume there is a reason) then the battery but no way is the blu ray drive just pulling out as in the video. What am i missing?

  • @jotoki Hey just saw your comment, did you get the drive out??

  • Hello 3mariusx .

Happy new year to you too bro..

No. You will have to remove the mainbaord, then release the screws which is holding the heatsink on to the processor, then remove heatsink

To properly clean the fan you would be required to raise the board. I cannot remember the specs of that system but most likely the design’s the same.

  • oh, and another thing, can you take out fan for cleaning after you take the keyboard off and the top casing? i mean not to take the motherboard out.

  • i clean often my laptop from dust and from what i see here this lap has very bad design from that point of view, not to mention that one heatpipe cooling does seem very week to me in terms of cooling performance. if you saw my link ( add w w w. in front ) that model has ati 5650 which burns a lot so need strong cooling. thank you for your time. your answer will be apreciated. Happy new year!.

  • hello, very nice video and unique, can you please tell me something: what exact model is this, cpu=?, gpu=?, ram=?... can you please tell me if this one --- pcfun.ro/notebook-laptop/dell/inspiron-15r-n5010-uszw28yf5gbc6fe1-core-i3-370m-24ghz-7-home-premium/ --- has the same cooling type? i want to buy it but
