NXT Helicopter - first flying attempts

Reasons why it did not fly:

1. The angle on the lego blades is 0 degrees, thus making no lift

2.The thing is very heavy

3.The wiresw keep it from flying

Try to get an IR Receiver from a remote control helicopter to control it instead. Also, you might want to consider taking off the rotors from that heli too and use it on the lego one.

instead what you should do, is attach the large grey gear to the motor, but dont attach the blades to THAT gear. make it so that the large gear is beside an extra small gear, so the efficiency will be increased.

I belive a large gear has 40 teeth( correct me if im wrong)

And I believe an extra small one has 8 teeth.

If we divide 40 by 8 we get 5

So your blades would spin FIVE TIMES FASTER, which would definately get your machine off the ground!

Ok first lego's have 0 aeryodynamic capability. 2nd did use a gyro? No rotorcraft can fly with out a gyro. I believe it will work however you will need to "Highly Modify" the rotors to where they can produce lift.
