YES!!! I finally get to see this again! This was on the Elvira special on the Game Show Network (not GSN), on Halloween Night... WHAT YEAR WAS IT?! 1998???
bell to give the answer is the same as the bell used to give the answer in chain reaction and the correct answer bell is the same as go when you hit the button to answer
I remember GSN airing this in 2000, and I remember liking Robert Urich's and the woman contestant's responses to John Ritter when he said 'Woody Allen' after "Play It Again, Sam". They'd forgotten in the moment about that movie. Decent comcept, and it was a shame the bonus game never turned up anywhere else! A real winner!
Yep. With all of the comments the celebs were making, Steve basically said nothing or repeated the score. A good host would have interacted more and made the game more enjoyable.
oh, Lynnie Greene, please survive your fifties.
unless this episode is terribly cursed!

@PatrioticPirate It had to be in the Fall of 1978. Lynnie Greene was on a sitcom on CBS that year called "On Our Own".

This is one convoluted way of playing. No wonder this show didn't last.

the correct answer bell and the time's up buzzer are the same as the $20,000 Pyramid.

the lights as a time remind me of a computer download.. but, I think a clock would have been easier to follow ...

Should point out -- this was taped on October 30, 1977.

Scratch that -- *November* 30, 1977. Got the date re-confirmed about ten minutes ago.

Was a local LA talk show personality Steve Edwards also a game show announcer?

The set has a $20,000 Pyramid flavor to it.

this I think could have sold with a better host and it might have lasted a couple of seasons if they kept getting the right celebs.

The host is kind of a douchebag.... X-(
gameshowluvr86 2 years ago 2
agreed Steve was possibly stiffer here than any other host I've seen.
gameshowfreak2007 2 years ago 2
Don't call hosts a douchebag. How would you like it when someone calls Chuck Henry a bitch? That wouldn't be nice at all.
nicka727 2 years ago
How dare you call Chuck Henry a bitch! He's nothing of the kind.

R.I.P. to the following celebrities who were on "Get Rich Quick!":
Robert Urich (1946-2002)
Debralee Scott (1953-2005)
John Ritter (1948-2003)

How is this by any means necessary?

Because this pilot is sincerely cursed, especially considering how they died.
