The BEST - and the greatest show on Radio 4 - a tele series would be wonderful, and I know he writes his own material - so no pressure Count! the last programme - ship on a bottle was one of the most hilarious ever, Lady Gaggle and ending up in the porn exchange - Steve you are FABULOUS.
followed Steve Delaney's creation from the early years, the writing is incredible and the delivery second to none, this is some of the finest acting and the funniest comedy ever.
love love LOVE this man! how funny is he? the gaffe's are brill. saw him live and it was just brilliant! i'd hate to see him as his alter-ego as count arthur is the greatest! what a shame this is just left on radio 4 - it needs a bigger audience as he truly IS funny and i'm sure i know a bloke like him!
The material and act works much better when you listen to it which, when you think about it, is pretty genius in this age of Youtube and the like. Maybe he'll save radio. I've listened to all of his stuff and he's up there with Python. Very well worked out and extremely funny.
Well it works better on radio. Listener's imagination etc. A fully thought out comedy performance, not some idiot making vaguely left wing comments and saying 'have you ever noticed..' Count is King
I bow to your greater judgement cant wait for the lp to come out for my spanking new gramophone player . However I have read his entire works in Braille and semaphore and he is still mildly amusing .
I think you're wilfully missing my point. I'm no Luddite but sometimes radio is better than TV. A case in point being Hitchhikers Guide.which stank when on TV. Quality writing and performing, plus listener's imagination, can create a far better experience whether it's comedy or drama. But you try telling that to kids today etc etc
@sunbeam11 i agree - radio is like a book your imagination can go further than what you are reading/hearing - tv dulls it - take the movie jaws for instance book was better even the thorn birds book was fab but the tv show just so-so. but still he really is a comedic genius and i'd love to see him on tv
This man is so funny and, I agree, so underrated. The real joke is about how people see themselves and misperceive their own importance . The Count lost touch with reality years ago. Anyone who cannot laugh at his long, rambling string of malapropic anecdotes, and see an element of this in themselves, probabably does take themselves too seriously.
This guy is crap why does he keep getting on the radio. It's painful to listen to and worse to watch, annoying act.

CAS works better in dialogue with others, as his mistakes and hole-digging is revealed.
Still, he is a great creation and one of the few things on radio that I roar with laughter.
