  • Can you believe, with all the parts listed, the only one that was needed is not there. They are muffler-less or nameless mufflers, I guess.

  • v6 mustang LOL

  • @explodingdrumr v6 mustangs aren't that bad man. I've had mine for 5 years and never had any problems with it. It's never been in the shop and I've put 50,000 miles on it. Now at 122,296 miles and still kickin...

  • I own a '98 V6 mustang and I've beat GT's

  • wat catback did u have?

  • What mufflers were equipped with this mustang? It sounds really nice for a V6 mustang

  • how much did you sell it for

  • Oh ya it's so intense!!! Lol listen to that turd. Man up and buy a GT.

  • V6 mustang is still a mustang I've seen some sixers beat gts on the track

  • yeah, i got an '01 bullitt gt but i respect any mustang. they should be glad its not some rced out civic.

  • good point

  • How much did you sell it for? cuz there is one for saleby me that needs some work for 5000

  • tru that i feel ya

  • u shud hav put that money in a gt

  • not tryin to be an ass but, why buy a gt just like everyone else? build a v-6 that will beat gt's, thats special

  • because v6's were made for better fuel economy. and who buys a mustang for gud gas mileage?lol, there are mre gt's that hav been fixed up that will whoop a v6 anyday

  • good points but idk i just like to be different

  • not many people have the money to support a v8 insurance bill every month i know i sure as hell can't. i pay 460 for my v6 if my old mans cobra was under my name it would be 550.

  • v6's were made for the crowd that just wanted a cool looking sports car.

fuel economy? Hell no - the GT's are rated around 24 highway and 17 city - the v6's are rated around 19 city and 25 hghway... Mine got terrible mileage.

My 350 Firebird gets 15 city and 27 highway even

  • And they are v6 Mustang's that can beat GT's. I have a GT and it's reasonable fast, but I don't have much money to put into the engine being that I'm in college. Don't talk down to anyone who has a v6 Mustang. A Mustang is a Mustang.

  • @Mr2002MustangGT agreed.

  • the video does not give it justice, i`m sure it sounds much louder in reality !! awesome exhaust

i`m installing my mac catback exhaust this weekeend, i hope it`s gonna sound as good as this !

  • what exhaust you got on there

  • howany inches is the drop?

  • hey what kinda mufflers u got n is it x piped or h?

  • H piped

  • thats awesome im saving for an sct tuner for my automatic

  • what is up with the 3.9L engine, i got an 01 mustang with the 3.8 but why did they make the 3.9L , did it even have more power? and is it the same engine? i really dont know and wondering

  • they only made the 3.9L engine in 04 as to be a part of the 40th anniversary of the mustang. It has 193hp/225 ft lbs. opposed to 190hp from the 3.8...idk the torque for a 3.8

I also think in 04 the mach500 stereo or w/e it is came standard, not as a premium option. It also came out with different style rims.

That's prolly alot more than you wanted to know, but it doesnt hurt to learn a lil more.

  • oh i know, and for the 3.8 engines the 2001 and up got 193 HP, that's what i have. about my question, i was asking if the 3.9L is a different engine or what exactly and why ford put that engine on the mustang, i know it's not alot more powerful that the 3.8 but i was wondering what made it different

  • Really it's not different at all, it's only 3.9L because it was a mini-van motor, the regular 3.8L was discontinued to prepare for the 4.0L engine for the 2005 V6 Mustang. Late production 2004 was 3.9L, early was still 3.8L

Nothing special except for maybe 5 more hp.

  • i see, thx i was just curious

  • the 3.9 is the 3.8 motor with a different crank. and the windstar and mustang had shared the 3.8, but in 2004 the windstar was given a 3.9, so ford changed the crank and got a 3.9 mustang. and the v6 got the 3hp power boost in 2002, the 2001 still had 190. and the 2004 3.9 didnt receive a boost in power, but fuel efficiency was rumored to have increased.

  • @Westley420 the fact that a 3.9 was originally a mimivan engine means its probably built to be torquier, seeing as its pushing a van

  • was the SCT tuner woth its price?

  • For an automatic, yes.

  • for an automatic 3.8 v6 would you recommended the 3.73s if the cars a daily driver cause most people say to get 4.10s

    and also

would a throttle body be worth the cash along with a CAI?

im on a very tight budget and cant just throw out cash on upgrades

  • wow that sounds nicer than the 3.8

  • They sound the same, I just had the right setup =]

  • to me this sounds like and improvement.

    very nice

  • @Mustangmike232 dude the 3.8 and the 3.9 are exactly the same! the performance and stock exhaust are the same, theres no power differance at all...the only difference between the twwo is the 3.9 has some left over freestar parts from the previous year in its engine which gave it .1 more liter

  • 40th annaversary edition v6s come with v6s the only major differance is the rod lenght

  • what is the exhaust system on that man im going to get that it sounds so clean and mean :P please tell

  • 3.9 thought they only had 3.8, that sounds like a skyline!

  • 2003 had 3.8L 2004 had both 3.8 and 3.9L 2005 and up have 4.0L.

eitheir way you can Get a stroker kit. and stroke it to a 4.3L v6..

  • im gettin this kit and a k&n

  • sound like sound some flow40's..

my 3.9 sounds a lil diffrent at idle since ive got my kn dropped in.

  • what kind of mufflers is on this mustang because i cant find the right sond i want on my 3.9 v6 if you could awnser me that would be great thx.

  • May I ask how much you spent total on it?

Yours is beautiful, I just got a bone stock 2004 3.9 v6 mustang.

  • $2500ish probobly a little more

  • how much did you spend for the gear and posi-traction installation.

  • Roughly $300, I could have done the posi alone but the gears you have to know what you're doing so, I just had it done.

  • the only 3.9 made was for the Ford Windstar Minivan, it was a 3.8L in 2004 and your not beating a stock GT even if you had a Vortech S-Trim Supercharger, cause my buddy has a 2003 3.8L supercharged and could not beat my 03 GT when it was stock, forget about it now since im pushing 324rwhp/362rwtrq...

  • Your friends supercharged V6 probobly had no other mods and running 6-8 psi and probobly didn't have an innercooler. Not saying much there -_- And if you really think there is no 2004 V6 3.9L then you're truly an idiot. And I think I could beat a stock GT with a vortech charger along with all my current mods. Please don't comment if you honestly don't know what you're talking about =]

  • first off I do know what im talkin about considering I am a Mechanic with a Bachelors degree in Auto Mechanics, id its not so dont ever call me an idiot....Second off keep tellin yourself its a 3.9L, and third his is intercooled and putting out 15psi, flat out its not a V8, I have alot of respect to people that fully rebuild the engine but as far as just throwing a supercharger on and bolt ons your car is not going to move....

  • I'm young so I do what I can afford. I'm pretty sure I have a 3.9L when it's clearly marked on my engine and there are many other videos of 3.9L mustangs on youtube... That's good you have a degree but that doesn't make you the most knowledgable person out there. So your friend had a supercharger and nothing else?

  • There are low 9sec v6 mustangs. Turbo is the way togo with them. theres also preformance Crate engines v6 motors you can buy that come out in the 300-550rwhp. already N/a then with a turbo your good togo. Not to mention exhuast and Suspenion then ur tires and ect... plus those motors you can make them from a 3.8 all the way to a 4.5L v6

  • the 2004's were 3.9Ls for the 40th edition. Look it up buba.

  • last I checked, I never stated in this post, that a 2004 did'nt come with a 3.9l.... so whats your point? buba?

  • Sorry, replied to wrong post.

  • oh alright bro, its cool. but yeah also it does not really matter if they did or not. just cause 99-04 can be made out to be a 4.5Liter v6. long or short block. :)

  • How? I would like a 4.5L :D. (owner of a 04 V6)

  • I did and your right i researched into it, and i have nothing against V6 stangs either, i have a friend with a fully built 3.8 runnin 11.9 so mad props...

  • Not all 40th editions v6 mustangs were 3.9L I have a 2004 mustang and it has a 3.8L

  • late in the production year for 2004 they discontinued the 3.8(they were going to the 4.0 in 05) and used the 3.9 out of the windstar anyway unless you bore it out when you stroke the 3.8/9 it goes to 4.2L usually anyway in all actuality the 3.9 is actually a 3.88 roughly and it's .10 in underbored if you do the math sucks really i have the 3.9

  • same here

  • i have a 40th annaversy 04 GT mustang and that comes with a 4.6L SOCH V8 in it

  • wtf, why put soo much money and effort in a v6 unless its supercharged or turbocharged, its retarded...

  • Because not everyone can afford a GT and the insurance to go with it, i'm only 18. I really haven't put too much money into it. It's faster then a stock GT and gets wayyy better milage, and i've still spent less money then actually buying a GT. I don't think that's retarded...

  • just bought a 04 v6 and its a 3.9!

  • Awesome, start working on it =]

  • What westley said... don't forget to post videos or picture shows either haha

  • the sound like glass packs

  • it's not 3.9

    it's 3.8 man

  • You should really get your facts together before saying that. Scroll down to the previous comment and read my reply along with rgonzalez. There are both 3.8 and 3.9L 2004 V6 Mustangs. It's clearly marked on my engine also. 3.9L Mustangs were made during the second half of production of the 2004 model.

  • Im telling u that again!! There is no Mustangs V6 3.9... V6 comes with 3.8 only!!!!!!!!!!

  • No... Ummm... You're wrong once again portlandskiy... BTW - rgonzalesftw is an MBStangs member... I just thought I'd mention that... Here's your engine lesson for the day...

The Canadian Essex was a pushrod design featuring aluminum heads, which reduced its weight considerably and made it a very powerful engine for its size. The engine was offered in two sizes, 3.8 L for mid-size cars and minivans, and 4.2 L for pickup trucks. The 3.8 L was replaced by the 3.9 L in 2004.

  • I'd also be willing to print out the Carfax that was submitted by rgonzales as proof... If you're still in any doubt... Carfax vehicle reports are REQUIRED to show the Engine type, and it clearly says 3.9L V6 EFI on the one I'm looking at.

  • actually I don't care about what you say. I have a Mustang V6 3.8 twin exhaust. My friend has same car, but his Mustang has a single exhaust. NEVER seen V6 3.9 and NEVER heared about it!

  • It's a shame you don't believe the truth. I hope you do a little more research before you keep going around and talking to REAL Mustang owners and telling them you have "twin exhaust"... Sounds cute.

Don't make me break out the list of cars I own have modded... Including the V6 I own that would whoop on this Mustang seen here (no offense Westley, just proving a point)... So please... RESEARCH before you speak next time.

  • None taken, what do you have done to yours?

  • Pretty much your list with changes and additions like:

    We're tuned for 100 Octane

    We're running a custom X-Pipe (catless)

    4.10 Gearing

Ours is Auto (I hate shifting at tracks lol)

    And ours is Twin Turbo'd

Ours is not a DD... so that's why I like yours more at this point lol.

It's for sale though, we're going to build another one (the one in the vids I have right now)... It's a pure stock 04 that we're gonna start on in January...

  • Haha very nice

Wish I had the money to at least supercharge mine and get rid of the cats

  • It's illegal to remove the cats in California, that's why our car is track only :( Tough laws out here... and getting tougher...

  • I talked to my friend, the guy who has mustang V6 3.8 same as like mine. He said there is no Mustangs V6 3.9... Your Mustang V6 3.9 like u said or something sounds good, same as like Mine.

  • Well then you're both dumb. To put it frankly.

  • 3.9 for 2004

  • 3.9 for "late production" 2004 ;)

  • sure its not all?

  • No, I've been doing the research and I've come up with the same answer several times... For the early part of production... gahhh... read my other replies :) lol... But yeah, I'm pretty sure

  • it's a glass pack muffler

  • 04 mustangs dont have 3.9's there only 3.8 or 4.6

  • Actually you're wrong. The first half of production the 2004 V6 Mustang was 3.8L but during the second half of production they came out with 3.9L engines, it's even marked on the engines. Go look it up =] It wasn't intentional either, just the way they came out. Look around for some videos here on youtube, you'll see a couple V6 Mustangs with 238 (3.9L) decals, 232 is the 3.8L

  • Westley is correct... My 2004 V6 3.9L Stang was built in February of 2004 and it's got the 3.9L...

It sound weird, but here's why - V6 Mustangs share their engine with Ford Vans - when the 2004 Vans were to be produced with the 3.9L they shifted production for Mustangs as well so there wouldn't be confusion in the factory. Our Windsor engines (I believe they are Windsor - correct me if wrong) are 3.9L in late 04 production. Not 3.8L.

  • 04 have a 3.9L. look it up

  • i wanna say thrush or cherrybombs

  • prolly Thrush

  • Loudmouth SLP's?

  • tell me what mufflers these are! i need to buy them immediately.

  • force mufflers!

  • sounds pretty damn good dude... if it aint flows its either mac or some off brand and to me they don't sound like mac...

and they aren't flow throughs they sound like chambered... give me a hint

  • oh shoot. that thing sounds dead nasty!

  • what kind of exhaust you got and could you tell any difference in the t.b? check out my videos some time 01 v6 mustang procharged, sounds good man.

  • Yeah dude. The throttle body made a HUGE difference after having my dual exhaust done. It's 2 pipes down all the way with a very very small H-Pipe to even the sound, it's small enough to where I won't have any horsepower loss. But yeah basicly true dual catback.

  • i doubt the spacer did tho?? and did you get your intake ported to match it? jw

  • The spacer actually helps, not as much as everything else but it still helps. It makes your intake sound cool with this low whistling sound too.

  • oh, well idk if ima get a spacer but i might. i already have a loud whistle lol from under my hood.

  • its fun to ride in wen we race its graet because it matters on who gets the better start

  • hey i have two more questions was it hard to install the throttle body and throttle body spacer? and where did u get them both?

  • It's cake. I had to get a flathead screwdriver and hammer off the stock throttle body, it was glued on. Putting on the new one and the spacer is cake. Just follow the instructions. Really, everything you do under the hood is easy. I can't remember the site I got them from but they should be the same everywhere, usually cold air intakes are different everywhere.

  • Crap, forgot to mention, make sure the spacer is facing the right way, gets tricky.

  • thats sick as helll!!!!! how do you like the throttle body? is 65mm good or would 70mm be better?

  • 65mm is good enough. The 70mm is if you have a Supercharger or maybe a Turbo. 70mm on just a regular non-charged Mustang is too much air.
